  1. I need some empty bottles... I think it's time to start collecting the tears from other fan bases. Bottles for USC, Washington and now Texas fans. Fill them up with their tears!
  2. And this is off-season entertainment for us die hards! And if you're reading this you're a die hard fan because it's July (let alone the 4th of July as a holiday). The reality is that there is a whole lot of off-season with football. So we gotta take joy out of every moment we get. Go Ducks! Make the Longhorns cry!
  3. Ummm if Utah comes in with an at large bid from the Big 12 then who is the Big 12 champion? Kansas State probably... I find a second Big 12 team will be hard to get in.
  4. I love the line... "Oregon is making massive promises as you'd expect" And what? Texas isn't? This signing is going to coast a boatload of NIL from any team. The notion that Oregon is the line team buying players is bunk but the blue bloods love to smear us with it. Like they haven't bought athletes commitments before.
  5. It's impressive and though I'd rank him up there .... I'm doing so less by what he's done and just as much by what he is capable of doing. He's only in his second year and is still learning. I think he could be the best coach in the country in a few years but based off his first two years I don't know if I'd honestly put him at two. The homer in me would put him at one because I don't think there is any other coach I'd take right now. Well... maybe Saban but I don't think he counts in this scenario.
  6. The only reason why Washington was as good as they were the past two years was really the amount of 5th year players they had on their team from the Covid bonus year. Penix may have been the transfer portal headliner and elevated the team greatly but the bulk of that team was composed of Petersen era players who were coached well and put in a solid scheme for their experience to win. A 22 year old is just going to be bigger and even bigger than a more highly rated player who is a freshman or sophomore. Husky fans will never admit it but they benefited from having a team that needed all those years of play to make the jump into the NFL.
  7. I don't know... I think after a few years in the B1G USC may consider returning to the Pac-2 even with a massive pay cut just to escape Oregon.
  8. My money is on leave soon. Fisch made a mistake leaving Arizona. He is a Florida alum and by the sound of it I had his eye in that job when it opens up. At zona he could have won the big 12 this year, made the playoff, and had his choice of any job. Instead he gets a Husky team that is devoid any any talent and due to the timing he took over he didn't have the chance to try and refill that talent competitivly. Instead he took bulk from the portal. I'll be all too happy to see the Ducks demolish Washington this year.
  9. It feels like the Lanning era has been a long time at this point... but it's only been TWO years! Maybe it just feels longer to me because the Lanning era is as long as I have had children and having young kids distorts all sense of time. Putting Lanning’s Second Year into Perspective | FishDuck FISHDUCK.COM This football season was a success for Oregon football. Now, it doesn’t feel that way because it was just a few points short of... Remove the Georgia loss and all of Lanning's losses have been by less than 7 points each. So much of that is fine tuning his game management and getting is rather young staff to learn those tough lessons in defeat. This could very well by the year he puts it all together!
  10. "Lit" or "fire" are closer to the terms high schoolers are using today. But as a high school teacher I only start to hear the new words when they are already hit peak usage and thus on the way out. So I think both of the previously mentioned new terms are already uncool. So sorry for that.
  11. I don't think he would have made it at Oregon. He just lacked the intangible of confidence and leaderships. He never really seemed in control of the offense. You look at how Nix, Adams, Herbert, Mariota or any of thr Oregon greats run the offense they always looked in control. Thompson only started to look comfortable out on the field a couple times last season... The big one being against PSU but that isn't a ringing endorsement. The Cristobal offense didn't do him any favors but Moorehead has a decent track record as a QB coach and I feel Thompson just lacked the "it" factor. I wish him the best but I don't think he was beating out Novosad or Moore... Let alone Gabriel.
  12. Thompson was a flop. Suamantaia could have developed into something special at Oregon but opted to transfer and was basically in the portal once he didn't get a starting spot.
  13. I doubt Oregon gets to no. 1 because this class won't be that big. On3's metric doesn't care about numbers. Other recruiting services care more about numbers. So depending on the service will depend if Oregon has a chance.
  14. Manning isn't going to stay a 3 star. That size is going to get him a 4th star with just a season's worth of development.
  15. This quote is telling. "Obviously, Oregon was at the forefront of NIL. We don't have to dance around it. You also have to do it the right way. You have to do it in a smart way, and you have to have a good working relationship between all parties involved, and it's pretty clear that Oregon has that." Oregon got some flack by some fans early on in the NIL world that they weren't paying enough for recruits and were getting beat because of it. Turns out that Oregon was just a few steps ahead of everyone. You also get a sense of how good Oregon's NIL is not just with who they get but also who they lose. I can only think of two players we have lost who were true assets to the team. Players who either started or played meaningful snaps.
  16. Wow... This wasn't even on my radar for today. Crazy day and a good day to be a Duck. Let's hope we keep on winning this weekend.
  17. Orange and purple are awful colors. Clemson went with both which is why I dislike them by default. Otherwise I have no issue with them.
  18. Also... How is USC'S defense rated ahead of their offense???? Even with a defensive scheme overhaul they still lack line play. Oh wait... Line play doesn't factor.
  19. 2nd year coaching staff is injecting new energy into Stanford right now. But they have a bulk class right now. Mostly three stars and a lot of them. But it is amusing to see them ahead of USC. Keep in mind with Stanford that they can't use the portal too effectively due to their academic requirements and grad students need to be accepted into their program first regardless of sports scholarship.
  20. Apparently line play doesn't matter. If that were the case then these scores could make sense.
  21. It will be interesting to watch going forward. All the recruiting services update recruit rankings at different times. It will be interesting to see if he stays a five star with rivals and then gets a fifth star with 247.
  22. I feel the elite 11 does a fine job of measuring tangables. Which do matter. But not the intangibles which matter more.
  23. This one was a surprise. Ir sounded like Oregon was really on the outside of this until commitment.
  24. The number outline looks like it comes from the jumpman uniforms worn against UCLA in 2018. One of the earlier videos about the uniforms also said there is some desire to have the colors carry through from the other uniforms to make it easier to mix and match parts of uniforms. There might be some green pants a similar color.
  25. I'm sure there will be at least one shade of green, probably two. Then highlighter yellow and white.
