Tennessee didn't invest in an offensive line and he got destroyed with them. His confidence was shaken as a result and he suffered multiple injuries that took quite a while to heal. Also Tennessee had multiple coaching and offensive coordinator changes which is always hard. Especially when they insist on their scheme and don't modify it to fit the talents of a very talented quarterback. They wanted a strict pro style offense... Mariota needs some spread elements to flourish. After that he's bounced around and maybe now he's finally settling. An article I read sounded like he was in the running for the starting job. At this point he's happy to make a very good living on being a backup. Though if he can pull off the starting job there could be three Oregon QBs starting in the NFL!!!

I think the team can wear whatever for a yellow out. I think the what to wear guide needs to be simplified. Green and yellow as much as possible. Throw in a blackout day sure.. But I also think that if the yellow out becomes something special and used for special big games it would look and feel incredible. I think part of our what to wear schedule is wasted on less interesting games. Why is the stripe out against Idaho? Shouldn't that be saved for a game like Michigan State? Maybe not the biggest game of the year but certainly of greater interest than Idaho. We have a semi tradition of blackouts when USC comes to town so I'm all for keeping that intact. It's special for a special rivalry. Wearing white for away games is kinda lackluster. Outside of a game at Michigan State we should be wearing green (or yellow). I know this is all kinda silly because it's the athletic office trying to heard cats and get fans to dress alike and it doesn't matter as long as the on-field product is good. But for a school that has a long streak of looking good... Should we strive as fans to look as good as possible as well?

I do think for this to work it would require Oregon to give out a t-shirt with the game. That way you enter the stadium and you have your yellow shirt on hand and can put it on. That also keeps it simple. I agree that yellow gear isn't the easiest to get mostly because it feels a bit weird to wear out of context. Wearing highlighter yellow around anything Oregon feels normal. Wearing highlighter yellow anywhere else feels a bit odd. Also yellow has a habit, like white, of getting stained easily.

Yeah... Oregon fans who migrate down from other areas of the stadium..

It might make teams feel more comfortable. Most teams are used to noise all over the stadium. So maybe this just rounds out the volume. Also... Should UCLA even be selling student tickets? Shouldn't they just be giving them away? And maybe not just give them away to students but just start giving them away to anyone they are in the street. They still probably won't pack the stadium but maybe it won't be so awkward when the camera pans up.

He's got size... And he has two seasons of football ahead of him before college, unless he reclassifies. He'll be a four star at least.

Personally... I'm a big fan of the bender burger from killer burger. I don't think I've been to one of LaMike's killer burgers.

Hey... Lincoln Riley just said their defense dominated a scrimmage. That can only mean good things... For everyone else. USC doesn't have the offensive linemen required to hold up to any defensive lines... Including their own. And without Caleb Williams able to make plays out of absolutely busted line play they're in for some hurt.

The Big 12 should be dead. The pac-12 should have grabbed any of the reasonably valuable pieces and been done with it. Granted there weren't any considerably good pieces in it. The Big 12 is a conference of leftovers. It's a shadow of its former self no matter how they brand it.

Either they have a defense or their offense is crap because they were dominated by a lackluster defense.

I used to watch these interviews religiously. I can sometimes pick something up from them but the coaches have gotten better at saying nothing than ever before. One of the reasons I liked Cristobal so much early on at Oregon was that he was pretty honest with questions. You got an insight into the team and if you could read between the lines a bit there were some gems. By the time he left Oregon he was cranky with the questions, said nothing and was pretty rude about it. Lanning says nothing with a smile on his face... So that's nice at least.

Probably not in the era of NIL... Might as well just pay the player or family directly if you want the athlete.

I have been waiting for this one to happen. His dad was hired at Nebraska and it felt like it was only a matter of time. It hurts a little but the reality is that Oregon is absolutely LOADED at wide receiver this class and it is unlikely Lanning and Co even look at grabbing another wide out for the 2025 class. If anything this just opens up a scholarship for someone else at another position.... Or a transfer come the open portal in December.

It's not a season anymore... It's an entire year. And amplafy the cost by the number of those massive linemen and the muscle mass these athletes have. The amount of calories needed to build and maintain those athletic bodies is insane.

Perhaps the biggest thing that this Oregon offense has that can really help the defense later in the game isn't it's ability to score. But it's ability to score on long brutal physical drives that just chew up clock. This Oregon offense can play slow if they want to. That is something that the Kelly and Helfrich teams struggled to do and it was frustrating to watch as a fan. They slowed the game down to bleed the clock and they were often stopped after one or two first downs and forced to punt. What made those offenses so deadly was the tempo and just being able to outpace an opponent to score fast. But Lanning can smash mouth with this offense. This offensive line will maul a tired opponent late in the game and let Jordan James and Jay Harris just run people over. That will keep the defense fresh on the sideline.

Based on a quick count... only 5 of the recruits on this list are going to either Texas or TAMU. Granted... if you open up the list to any schools in Texas then it looks like around half (I didn't count) is staying instate whether that is Texas, TAMU, TCU, Baylor or SMU. But that's still a TON of talent leaving the state.

Alright fair enough. I need to look up a YouTube version of the Michigan game again. I won't get live TV and the B1G network until the season is about to start.

And sometimes a really really short game. Some transfer portal recruitments are like a week at most. While others do stem from high school recruiting.

Sooo... They're not replaying the 2021 game against Ohio State? Or the last meeting between Oregon and Michigan? Hmmm.... Maybe they don't want to relive those games just yet.

Oregon has seized momentum back after a couple flips.

Get that QB locked in so he can recruit! I think Akali Smith jr. has done a lot to help build our 2025 class. They can build their leadership and relationships by recruiting to the Ducks.

I was going to say... We care too much and work too hard. But nothing is fine too.

Now, anyone who wants to go... A few notes that I'd like to add. 1. Alabama's high school class was all Saban. The portal was DeBoer who pulled quite a few UW players to Bama. So far DeBoer is putting together a solid class in 2025 from prep recruits but we'll see how long he can ride Saban's coattails. 2. Georgia is Georgia and is able to live off prep recruiting. Not at all a surprise they're top ranked. 3. Ohio State is certainly a recruiting power but their use of the portal this cycle feels maybe a bit more desperate than in previous years. It feels like Day is going for broke here in a do or die season. 4. In order for Lanning to be successful at Oregon he MUST do both prep and portal well. Without a massive amount of talent in Oregon's backyard Lanning will always need the portal to fill in gaps that he can't fill in any given cycle. Geography isn't as much of a detriment as it used to be but is still a significant factor in recruiting.

I could see them buying their way into the Big 12. They have a warchest that can do so with all that Pac-12 money. I would be surprised if the Big 12 just outright add them. But if they were to pay the Big 12 a bit of money and then forego media money for a year or two I could see them being let in. They do have some value... Even in the conference of leftovers. But it probably won't come for free.

It's interesting so far how they have brought back the yellow but have continued to keep the apple green.
