  1. Thank you for the link. I can't help but notice that the article was preseason. Our Run game didn't have that IT factor. Only when the skat backs came in did the production increase. I won't beat the dead horse, just noticing a glaring hole IMO.
  2. A subject worth discussing and with so many knowledgeable people here, I thought I would broach this long annoying subject. We have been mildly spoiled with some stunning DT's. Haloti and Igor were game changers here. I'll never forget an incredible video of a RB slamming into the defensive line that is Haloti. The RB's whole body shook and as it slammed into the massive bodied Haloti and all that Holoti did was have a minor Jersey ruffle. No body movement at all by Haloti. What an absolute stunner for a DT. Sadly, we have yet to get a DT that gets everyone talking. DE's have been off the charts. OLB's, ILB's, CB's, we've seen our fair share of big time 4/5*'s. But where is the DT's? As far as offense, when was the last time we had a Thunder and Lightening package? 5'10/11' 215/225lb. Power back. JS had all of us licking our chops when back in HS in his Junior year he looked like an NFL RB. Then his opening game he takes 9 Houston Cougars and throws them on his back as he rumbles down the field! Don't get me wrong. MC has changed recruiting at Oregon and has done it from the Line out. The results are staggering. Back to back Pac12 championships and a Rose Bowl Thumper win! But, did our RB's strike fear in anyone? Winning the Pac12 had more to do with an athletic and opportunistic defense and KT messing with USC Offensive backfield to cause very uncharacteristic TO's. So, to the powers that be, when do we get a RB and DT recruit that matches the other skill super stars? Where's the Big horse Rock carrier, where's the Elite Mammoth in the middle?
  3. I wasn't even a 3 point in HS. My focus was getting out of school and going to work. I've never known being this highly dedicated at anything at such a young age. 18, National player of the year, 4.3 GPA..... Ok, I'll just stop right there. That's a highly focused Young man right there. I have no idea of his character, but the results would suggest highly motivated and an over achiever. Winning is not enough for him. Going the extra mile seems to be the narrative I'm reading. Where does a kid have time to spend 6 hrs. at school, take the extra classes or at least college prep classes And perform at such a high level on the grid iron? That's a minimum 8 hrs. every day in school associated time alone. Don't forget homework. Yeah, I'm not worried about potential to wrest control of the starter position. My concern is the Big Stage. Can he perform in front of 60,000? If he's got the goods then get him acclimated.
  4. Just my $.02. I don't think these kids see adjusting to college as monumental as we mature fans might think. We have a perspective that puts the importance of it all in a neat little package and then dissect it. For these kids, they are going from 6 classes 5 days a week down to 3/4 3 days a week, give or take. They are going to have more free time on their hands than they ever had. Also they have the option of taking a coaster of a class during the summer to keep somewhat occupied if they choose, which they most likely won't, but its possible. The real danger is the free time and your association. Oh, and sorry about the Husky reference....(gold)
  5. What a conundrum to have. Does Ty start, or does he play back up, or does he sit for a year and red shirt? Some perspective; KT won National Player of the year in HS in 2018. Flowe did as well in 2019. Ty wins Offensive National player of the year for 2020. While Flowe got hurt early, every indication was that he grasped and was accelerating in the defense. KT needs no introduction. He has been a wrecker ever since he put on the green and gold and has been double teamed ever since. Yet he still disrupts the O-line. Both kids played nearly out of the gate. That brings us to TT. Lets just clear the table and show the cards. The National player of the Year comes to Oregon....and we bench him? Red shirt? Uh, I don't think so. TT will be thrown in the mix just like every QB on the squad and if he plays as good then the dice will be rolled with him this year. Not saying that there isn't a treasure trove of quality QB's, but this is a generational pick up. How special is he? Here's some other National player of the year award winners out of HS; Trevor Lawrence, Bryce Young, and Kyler Murray. Dominant Qb's! Yeah, TT's accolades are nothing to be skoffed at. He really has the potential of taking Oregon to the next level, from cute trendy pick to expected contender for playoffs.
  6. If one can't get a high 4* DT, then I would pass and go for a high * LB. Of course, a splash DT is everyone's dream right now, but substandard is no standard at this point.
  7. I would say, Oregon could definitely use a big time and experienced ILB. A rotation of 3/4 guys would be difficult for opposing offenses to overcome. Especially if all players are well developed mentally and physically.
  8. I'm quite sure that MC and company have their eyeballs glued to the Portal. A RB would be great, and there are a lot of Kids that are 4/5* out of high school that wish to transfer. There is a TE out of LSU that is looking real hard and has no locked down destination by the name of Arik Gilbert. 6'5". Or how about Netori Johnson DT out of Georgia. 6'3" 327. That can't be bad, right? And one of my favorites is a kid on USC's roster that wants out. He's a 5* ILB by the name of Palaie Gaoteote. 6'2" 250 out of HS from the class of 2018! There is no doubt, we did the most damage when we had a Lightening And a Thunder package. We need a 5'10" 210/20lb. Bowling ball on skates.
  9. Thank you for informing us, with clarity, about the standards and expectations on this forum. We live in a world that allows little to no standard when expressing ones viewpoint. The vitriol that has oozed into society is the evidence that has surfaced from lack of regard to others opinions. A sharing of thoughts and ideas brings success. After all, there is a frustrating of plans where there is no confidential talk. By you allowing a forum with civil standards, we get to enjoy various ideas. Thank you again Fish
  10. To be fair, there were problems all over the field. Sp. Teams gutted the Fiesta Bowl. That's youth and coaching right there. 5/6 total turnovers will put undue pressure on a team. Yes, that's an opportunity for teams to be tested by fire and show their true metal. Truth is/was, Oregon was the most inexperienced team in all of college football. Shough still played as the best QB in Pac12. But, missing an NFL blind side offensive lineman is a killer. Missing a hard hitting RB is a killer. Missing TE starters is a killer. And WR as well. Defense was extremely Young and inexperienced. I'm sorry, I don't see this as a QB issue per se' as much as I see this as a maturity issue. Oregon is Not Alabama, full of top 10 recruits, headed to the NFL in droves every year. Oregon isn't there....yet. Oregon's Defense showed signs of brilliance in title game and the last half of season for that matter. I'm personally not worried as much about defense as some might be. C19 was a killer and so was inexpedience. Look at LSU. NC one year and barely bowl eligible following year.....inexperience. My take is this; Defense improves noticeably to 2019 levels for the 2021 season and opens eyes. We have world class players at all positions. 4/5*DB's, 5* LB's, 4/5* DE's. Yeah, the defense is coming together at the eight time. Offense needs a steady hand to be sure. The line will be more than solid IMO. RB and receivers look to return to form as a squad. A solid QB to manage the game will most likely win the PAC12 again for Oregon. Ty hasn't played one single snap so I would be hesitant to anoint the kid. But, who knows, if Ty can come in this spring and wrestle control in the QB room, then its going to create an unruly buzz Oregon hasn't had in quite some time. If this is so, then a March to the Natty playoffs is a reasonable goal for 2021 season. But, I foresee a PAC12 championship on the menu for 2021. Anything above would be euphoric for UO.
