  1. Is $13 million true? What specifically wasn't honored? Did the real money come down to about $2-$3 million? Did Flo-Rida promise 'More' money than Me-ami' to acquire the services of Rashada and then reneged? Inquiring minds want to know. Pandoras box has been opened so there is no going back. But, I would hope these kids don't go for every last penny for their college decision. For example, if their dream school is Oregon with $1.2 million in NIL and Utah comes calling with $1.5 million, can they be happy that they received enough NIL AND their 'Dream' school?
  2. Or maybe he wants to fast track his chance to the League? Playing back up might not be enough for these kids. We simply don't know the reasons for Portal. It could simply he the kid's idea of wanting 'Starter' exposure.
  3. This is sad. I have no idea, but one has to wonder, after a masters, why would you leave when you can get a doctorate. Is this the nature of building an SEC beating team? Is NIL a factor?
  4. On the picture that is in your link. It has NIL value. I'm guessing that is NOT the actual paid amount. Looks like prognostication by the web site.
  5. So, if Mr. Burch, a 5* LB, with a 6'5" frame and weighing 275lbs can be bought for ~$63,000.00....... Hmmm. I truly want a cultural roster not a mercenary one. I believe it's how you create said culture in the locker room and bring everyone to a specific mind set. But, if you can line the field for $2 million per year with top 5-10 player at any given position that truly wants to fight to get to The League??? Seems like getting a disgruntled player, that has already played at the Collegiate level and has some Adult growth on them, would be more of a predictable outcome. If you can get these Men to buy into 'High Motor' all the time then why not?
  6. Having a full complement of players allows for rotating squads. Can you imagine having 2-3 full defensive lines to rotate? Does it matter that you are a starter?
  7. Waaaaaahhhhh, waaaaaaaaaahhh, waaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaahhhh!!!!
  8. USC could have hung? Then UU could have hung as well. Oregon beat UU with a busted QB. Oregon could have hung. OSU lost with a garbage QB by only 3 points. Their QB was found by the bowl game, and the defense has been pretty stinking good. OSU could have hung. Out of the, 5, 10 win teams in the PAC, they Didn't play Washington, and didn't play Oregon. They beat OSU by 3 and lost to Utah twice. USC's schedule this year was mediocre at best. Yes, they are a ton better than last year. But, hold up on the anointing of U$C for anything more than an opportunistic team doing what they needed to. Yet, they still didn't win their conference. Just sayin. If U$C could hang and be competitive, then the whole top half of the conference could be then. Hey, U$C, .....ScoreBoard! Now, go win your Bowl game because there is no crying in football.
  9. I think I might add some more perspective coming from a Grandfather. I was raised in a world where me and my cousins would try to one up each other by telling of the types of discipline we received. It was a world of getting spanked by a 2x4. I wasn't injured mind you, but as kids, we kind of walked around like it was a badge of honor with who got it the worst. My father was beat up by his dad, my grandpa, and dad said he deserved it. Why do I share this? I have no ill will towards my father, he thought he was doing right by instilling discipline. It needs to be remembered that in the 50's through the 80's that the communication access to reasonable parenting was limited. Nobody, and I mean nobody questioned how a father disciplined his own. But, nobody questioned alot of things back in the day. Nobody knew the dirty little secrets that most families had/have. I love football. I love the incredible chess match. I believe its the greatest game on earth. 11 on 11 reacting within 3 seconds to every single play. But, somewhere we have chalked up inappropriate behavior to just being tough. I am reminded, by the same father of my youth, that you stand in the face of extreme danger and protect your family. As the head of a family, I must be the calm in the face of the storm. My family will find the leadership that comes from it as something to look up to and fight for. How the Head acts is how the body goes. Long winded, I know, but it gives perspective to why I feel the way I do. 7 Win Sark, 7WS, has been a head coach long enough to know his place. That media guy was doing his job. Holding 85-100 people back in a highly energized environment. Coach should have been steeled already for that repetitious environment. No excuse. Everyone was watching. His kids too.
  10. I respectfully disagree. In fact, wholeheartedly disagree. While there is room for an 'accidental targeting', it by and large lends itself to training from the coach's level. You Never drop your head and put it in a 'Spear' mode. Never. You can lead with your shoulder. Everyone knows where they are trying to hit and from what stand point. Even a Bang Bang play can be shoulder induced like the one in the end of the end zone. Targeting, by definition, is a crown of the helmet hit and is nearly 100% intentional. Again, the recipient can move into play by dropping his body and the offender is clueless to the split second move, but, the offender shouldn't have gone in 'Blind' in the first place. Paralizing can happen when you blindly tackle your opponent. It's poor form and poor coaching. Why? Because the Coachs can create culture within the program to play hard and use technique to impose your will. Thinking of the safety of all those on the field should be paramount in every teams culture. Targeting isn't 'Playing the game'. It's ruthless and endangers everyone involved. Now, a hard tackle that removes a cleat is another story. The odds of becoming paralyzed are nearly nil. Also, the defender of such a hit has a reasonable chance to defend himself. Now for my own rant to the netherworld; Ejection for targeting. If the kid is carted off the field and doesn't return? Ejection for 4 games. This will instill discipline in the culture of College Football Teams. After all, there is a massive outcry for the well-being of kids and the travel across the U.S. right? Well, ......?
  11. I'm hoping for a U$C win against Tulane as I got my wish with UU beating the stuffing out of the Spoiled Children and 'Demoting' them out of the PAC championship trophy AND the Playoffs. Their consolation prize is winning one for the PAC before we send them packing to the B1G 10,11,12,13,14, etc. etc. And let UU dominate PSU thereby adding another check in the loss column to the B1G whatever. The PAC would finish 5-2 with all 5 teams being 10 wins or more! That screams 5 teams in the top 15 next year. Booyah!!!!!!!!
  12. This kind of conduct by 'The Leader' of a program sets the tone for respect of the game. I understand its a high energy environment, but there is NO excuse for berating anyone doing their job, Period! Not only does Seven win Sark need to apologize, there needs to be a fine as well. $5000 should cover it. Verbal abuse is not what these employees sign up for to do a game. That's just Husky Poop!
  13. I just 'Verped' in my mouth. OK... Oh boy.....here....we....go.... I am rooting for Washington. But, it's much deeper than what it seems on the surface. I can't stand the arrogance of the SEC. Texas is headed to the SEC, so I consider them SEC right now. If it 'Just Means More' in the SEC then I will hold my nose and take the Win vs SEC as well as a win in the Bowl season for the PAC. But, I'm still trying to figure out how we can have the win vs the SEC and still have a loss for UW. I need help!!!
  14. Do any appeal to me? Uhhh, no. Not one of them as a team. Now, as a TV market, that's another story. San Diego and Dallas aren't too bad for viewership ratings. Bring those teams. All the others feel like we are settling. Who's kidding who, we are settling for any team at this juncture. If you want the PAC to survive then you go after viewership. It's all about the eyeballs($$$).
  15. Well stated. This is the point I was trying to convey. There will be a lot more schools vying for Championships due to a spreading around of the talent. Alabama will continue to be great but they are about to get claustrophobic with all the schools vying for Championships. It won't be long.
  16. I'm going to respectfully disagree with your assessment about the Northern schools. OSU is being built slowly and methodically. Their defensive line was notable all year. UW is righting the ship. I want to spank those puppies every year but they are not hapless anymore. Miracle? For UW I think not. OSU should have lost by a ton, but their team is getting methodically better. They are a QB away as their bowl proved. Current QB is getting a ton better.
  17. I was raised around commercial fishing and found I still have a very eerie calling for it. It's a long lost friend calling to me from just out of site whenever I smell the sea air. I reminisce about being woken at 4:00am to go and set scows, while the tide was in, so that we had 'tubs' to fill with oysters we picked. I hated getting up that early as a teenager but I now find myself yearning for 'just one more tide'. My grandfather has long passed away and most of the family has either sold off or just plain moved away. I'm not sad for the ending, I'm incredibly grateful for the journey. I swam in live Sand Dollar beds where these 'black', not white, creatures would stand on their side to eat. It was old hat to a teenager. It simply was a break from working the tide. Since my coming of age, the realization that the family business could only support so few left nearly all of my cousins to find other work, myself included. The rules had changed. No longer was Land cheap enough to buy and support a family. Big money wanted beach front property in the Puget Sound and our generation was priced out. I have since taken the work ethic my father has instilled in me so long ago, waking at anywhere from 12:00am-4:00am working the tides, to starting my own business, at 17 years of age, and not looking back. It's been a long road full of fulfillment with training my children the value of 'getting up early' and going to work. And, I get to work with 2 of my adult children every week, a true blessing. This brings me to Alabama. For so long, there have only been a few sitting at the top of CFB. Their recruiting has been legendary. Whether it be U$C, tOSU, Georgia, Alabama, or any of the top tier schools, it's been a crowded group with an occasional hopeful little brother within striking distance. But, the Tides are changing. It's interesting about a tide. You don't see the mean low tide, you only know it's happening by looking at the Tide Book and your watch. You can't see the water moving back in but if you wait a few minutes then you realize you are standing in a skim of water. You are still at peak working conditions. Alabama has just recruited a powerhouse class. To be fair, the top 15 schools all look the same. But, make no mistake, the Tide is changing. The Portal is changing everything. Alabama transfers to Oregon and to other BIG12 schools. The sheer number is astounding. AtM is no different. While the Powerhouses of football will, by and large, not change overall, the cluster at the top is going to get huge IMO. The turnaround for any of these teams to be a contender will be astounding. Tennessee proved it can be done. Texas and U$C jumped in winning this past year due as well. Washington was pathetic last year and was 1 game from winning a trip to Vegas, and so was Or. ST. Will Alabama continue to vie for a NC? You bet! Will they win back to back championships in the future? It's possible but highly unlikely. I would venture that the Tide has changed for all of CFB. The reshuffle every year from the Portal and with truck loads of cash is truly leveling the playing field. You can't quite see it yet, just like the turn of the tide, but it will start to rush in and it will overtake us and force us to readjust. You can't stop the tide, you can only hope to beat it. Alabama is NOT done. But, Alabama's days are numbered as being at the top year in and year out. Nick Saban loathes the Portal. It's simply a matter of time before he succumbs to the tide as well. Best for them to enjoy what time they have left. It won't be long before a different conference wins it all and it just might be a year or two in between Championships. It might be a year or two between the SEC having a Championship! The Tides, they be a changin'. It would behoove them all to learn how to swim. Right now, we are Ducks out of water but, Ducks are great swimmers. ......Tide is coming in.
  18. Is it just me or does Silva look like a Road Grader? That Dude looks huuuge!!
  19. Oregon State crushes Flo-Rida 30-3 The PAC 1-0 The SEC 0-1 Because it just means more! WSU -vs- Fresno St. 6-29 The PAC 1-1 Wake Forest -vs- Missouri 27-17 Yeah! It Just Means More!!!! The SEC 0-2 The PAC 1-1
  20. Thats the best move for DJ. I wanted him more but OR ST. just got a TON better!! Look the stink out!!!
  21. U$C is so scared. Washington-on the rise Oregon-owned them for the last 15+ years Utah-informed them they are better even when their QB is not 100%. U$C is so scared that they are running from the PAC. Their little brother, UClowns LA, is riding the coat tails as well. I'm just seeing complete melt down by Tro-Jan-Man
  22. I think DJ is going to be hard pressed to be on a perennial power house team and think he wins the starting job. But, with 3 years of eligibility, DJ could take over for a Rose Bowl caliber team playing in the Playoffs. This is about exposure. Or. St. would give it to him if he so chose. But, the PAC is a better chance for exposure than Hawaii.
  23. Hmmm, #1-Bo #2-DJ- plays a series or two each game to stay warm #3-Novosad-Red Shirts but gets some 4 game playing time. Ty Thompson Portal Combats! Come on over DJ! Bowen was reportedly going to get upwards of $2 million and who even knows about Hicks. I'm sure there is $1 million or so out there to stack the QB roster.
  24. I LOVE the angle of recruiting from the Portal. Limit the payout for Freshmen. Let these kids prove it in their freshman season and Portal them in. 4-5* means nothing as a HS recruit. Don't get me wrong, I want the 5* as much as anyone. But, I want Patrick Chungs. 2* comes in and gets to the League.
