  1. This whole story from the beginning made no sense to me. I'm well aware that Auburn is more rabid than Ile Miss, but Ole Miss is still in the SEC and is going to pony up and with a smidge more forgiveness than Auburn ingrates. Lame Kiffin could very well be a stalwart in the SEC and start winning conference trophy's right where he's at. Why move sideways for unreasonable ingrates? If you are THAT good, then the school will rise in win percentages. Don't move Lame Kiffin, its not worth it. Ole Miss will give you the rime and the reasonableness to rise to the top and be a force in your conference.
  2. Ugly....interesting word, and yet, I can live with that. I'm leaning more towards 'Soul Searching' on this one. Oregon is missing key offensive linemen, a less than 100%(maybe 70%) QB, and the Defensive unit found it's Soul. Quite frankly, Oregon's offense did just about what one would expect against such an incredible defense. I'm reminded by where we are at in the season. Game 11, everyone is banged up across all of CFB. It's frigid and its to be expected that with an excellent opposing team having 10 games of film and keying on Oregon's Identity (the run), that this game should look abnormal in the box score. It did. In hindsite Oregon played just about how they should have. Aside from the cute play that cost Oregon some points, I am happy with our offense. The turnovers were painful though. It's tough to watch a dynamic offense be hobbled by fumbles and an INT. Thats got to be at least a 14 point swing one would think. However, I just want to ask, where in the world has 'That' defense been all year. They took Utah and put the Arizona(state) team in those Uni's. Completely changed their team. I suspect Oregon is going with Bo until Bo can't Go No Mo. The Defensive Monster has awoke. It's not mature for sure, but it has made an important step.
  3. I understood what he meant with 'Stats are for losers' comment. However, I thoroughly disagree. Stats are for coaches. It's not the whole story, but it helps to identify tendencies that might be overlooked. 3rd down and distance? Completion percentages against specific defenses. Etc. Etc. Oregon's defense is porous. There is no way around that. We struggle with 3rd downs because we don't have the personnel. We don't have to boat race other teams like U$C in order to win because of our defense, but I would give us an average score in rating our defense. Like Coach Brooks said, the SEC is better because of their defensive players. The PAC'S offense is definitely good enough to hang with any conference. But, bring in the 'Big'ns for the D. That brings me to something I have been musing for a few weeks now and Coach DL addressed it again this week. DL is staying as long as Oregon will have him. He's going Nowhere. I'm salivating at the defensive prospects sure to come into the fold in the coming years. If you put an across the board 4 star defense with an ever-increasing quality of offensive player, Oregon should start to dominate at every level. I do believe we are witnessing a dynasty form. If you can take a glorified B1G offensive roster and turn them into a dynamic Offensive juggernaut, what happens when you get 5* offensive players? I believe it will take 3 years to get the defense to look SEC like. Then......Watch Out!!
  4. I would heavily lean towards they Do want to be HC. Football at the Power 5 level is a full time job and then some. I can't see anyone wanting to move through the ranks from 'Volunteer' all the way to OC and not want to have the shot at seeing if you 'Have It'. Not to mention the pay is another digit to the salary. That's life changing right there. Getting your own guys and strategizing your scheme has got to be juice that flows through these guys veins. They think differently than most. They are A type personality's running at 100%. Its the mentality of the game. Its not lackadaisical the way they do things if they are successful.
  5. Also, I don't believe Dan would leave or stay based on his staff. Success breeds Hungry programs coming to call on your staff. Thats normal and expected. I'm guessing that if Dilly goes, that DL has a nice long list of coaches that would fit his idea of what he's wanting to build here. I don't want Dilly to go but we aren't blind either. A Heisman hopeful with a 40+ point per game average screams that a lot of schools will be calling. We may get Dilly for another year, but I'm wondering if thats just wishful thinking.
  6. THIS.... is why I thought that statement was bunk. It just smacked of a whitewashed statement with no substance. Secondly, DL has only been here 9 games with no Head coaching experience at the collegiate level. One would think that he would like to build a resume at a school that doesn't have a built in pressure cooker environment. I would give more credence to Dilly going for a HC job as he's got some experience at this level. Also, every OC wants a chance at HC. Dilly would be expected to answer the phone when schools come calling for a HC open position.
  7. That is one of the most baseless claims I've ever read. No substance what so ever. 'he fits'??? 'Lanning is showing mutual interest'? What?
  8. Oregon could very well be at 45+ by end of 3rd quarter. I wouldn't let off the gas till I had a 30+ point lead or start of 4Q, which ever comes later.
  9. This is why I love CFB and WILL not like it as much in the coming years. 12 teams in the playoffs just screams 'Watered down'. A conference champion deserves a spot, but a 9-3 team that doesn't win their conference sneaks in over a, mid major, undefeated? Just Yuck!! 1 team per conference...Period! Your conference play is your playoff seeding. You get 8/9 conference games to prove whether you get to the next round. Why do you need one more potential conference game in the playoffs? You don't. 12 isn't needed. I could stomach 8. It forms out perfectly and gives the mid majors and Independents 3 slots to fill with Conference championships and top 12-15 ranked independents. It would/could be billed as 'The Playoff of Champions'. Prove It and leave It on the field. But, nobody asked me.
  10. Hey Fish, I'm curious with your Large Brain acumen in analyzing Football. Much has been mentioned with Bo and his lackluster play at Au-tanned during his tenure. Bo has made mention that he was basically hamstrung in that offense by the coaching staff. Now Bo is making a run for the Heisman. Can you take a look and see how Bo was held back with such lackluster play? Sure, its a load, but I deeply respect your analysis along with other knowledgeable posters here. Has Bo always been this good and the Coaches didn't know how to use the tools in their tool box or.....?
  11. I mentioned it would take 4 td's per game for the rest of the year including a 5'r in there to get Bo in the Heisman race. So far, it's been 5 and 6. No reason to not have 5 next week. Bo for Heisman if he goes 4+ each game from here
  12. My head hurts. I'm left wondering, more and more as of late, did UCLA just make an incredibly poor decision in jumping from the PAC? Worse yet, did USC do the same? Why didn't USC and UCLA come to the table and ask for a larger slice of the pie if media is such a large factor? I get it, technically, there is more money in the B1G move. But, it's looking more and more like the disparity isn't nearly as much as the overall impact to the school and, more importantly, the kids. $30 million buys a lot of couch/shrink time for the student athletes. I think both USC and UCLA are crunching the numbers and it's not looking nearly as 'Rose'y as 6-9 months ago. What happens if Kliavkoff pulls that rabbit and gives Oregon and Washington 12.5% each? Would have UCLA and USC received the same? A tad bit more? With 12 schools, their pull might have been possibly 9-10% each. Those Southern Schools were incredibly short sighted. They, clearly, did not want to hold to tradition. Quite sad how a handful of administrators can affect hundreds, if not thousands, of Student Athletes in such a negative way. What do the SA's get? More? I don't think so. Just ...... sad.
  13. I expect confidence from the Field General. However, this statement brings up a host of questions if we are to be fair. 1) Is Oregon's offensive line an equal or better match to Georgia's Defensive line. 2) Is Oregon's receivers an equal or better match to Georgia's defensive back field? 3) Is Oregon's defense an equal or better match to Georgia's offense? 1) yes, emphatically- no sacks and a raw team trying to gel. 2) yes, I would say they could compete on a somewhat equal footing 3) no. While we are getting better, our pass defense would pray that our offense could put Georgia on their heels and force Georgia into a, one dimensional, game. I guess I would conclude that the eyeball test says Georgia would be favored. Something like 41-31. But, then again, that's why they play the game right?
  14. Quite a statement from Bo. Bo Nix Says Oregon Would Beat No. 1 Georgia If 2 Teams Played Again Today WWW.MSN.COM Oregon and quarterback Bo Nix continued to roll last week, handing UCLA its first loss of the season with a 45-30 win. The Ducks have a legitimate claim as the best team in the Pac-12, having scored...
  15. That was beautiful article. Insightful and objective, loved it.
  16. What's best for the conference? I'm beeping as I write. UW- they already have national recognition and would create the biggest of games with Oregon /UW being highly ranked when they came together. College Gameday anyone? UU- respected, tough, consistent beyond belief. They are just a game or two away from elite status. They are highly respected as a 2nd tier team in a Big 5 conference. Yes, I know they win and have won the PAC, but how many times? Keep on Keep'n on UU. You are desperately needed to be elite. Furd- National recognition for being the B1G team from the west coast. Tough, Smart, plays USC, a'Nother L'ame team each year. This gives noteriatey to the PAC as well. Those 4 teams being in the top 15 each year would make The PAC contenders for #2 conference. Possibly even for #1. Thats top 4 against top 4 that is. That brings me to a mild gripe. Georgia, Alabama, and who else is the cream of the SEC? Auburn? Thats a dumpster fire. Florida? Average with really good players. Ole Miss? I considered that team a middle of the PAC team if they played west coast. Tennessee looks incredible, but up until last year was a dumpster fire for 20 years possibly more. An embarrassment really. My gripe is that the SEC's motto is 'It Just Means More'. To the fans? Sure. But, take out the top 3 and you couldn't tell who was better among the remaining power 5 conferences top tier teams. It's Alabama, Georgia, and this year, Tennessee, and everyone else in the SEC. The B1G is Tosu, Ummm, with Illinois coming out of nowhere for a distant third. The ACC is floating down the river on fire with Clemson as the only respectable team. How bad is the ACC? Syracuse is dominating, yeah, Syracuse. The BIG 12 has who? Ugh, well, let me see.....Baylor or OK st? I just got skeered...nope.
  17. I might also add, Bo had an interception to TD ratio around 40%. If there were 5 td's in a game, then there was a probability of having 2 INT's. This year? 17td's to 3Int's. Thats less than 1/2 of his career at Auburn. Take out the UGA game that was a debacle by any stretch of the imagination, and its 1-INT verses 17TD's. Under 6% INT/TD ratio!! That's inceedible! I'm going with Bo was frustrated at Auburn and struggled so as to force issues. Also, he is much more mature. Go Bo!!
  18. In this week's Interview on Tuesday, Bo stated that, at Auburn, the play called was the play ran. What he loves about here is that there are 'Check-Downs'. This supports my previous thesis that QB's can be hamstrung inside an offense and 'de-evolve'. Maybe, this is why I have such a sour taste in my mouth with Anthony Brown. His numbers weren't bad per se', but it just felt like something was wrong. Now, held in the NFL. You don't make it there without clearing some hurdles right? I'm guessing Bo has always been the 5* but his coordinator made him below average.
  19. Jamis Winston comes to mind. 14-0 is mind boggling. While the disparity is galling, the reality is their is bad calls every single game. The SEC, IMO, doesn't have better Refs, the have Refs that swallow their laundry. And I hate it when the announcers say something to the effect of 'the Refs are letting them play football and settle it on the fields. I just Verped in my mouth. 'Our team' always gets disproportionately called. Its the nature of the fans perception. It does happen but I'm in the camp that it happens indiscriminately. Make no mistake, each conference has a personality when it comes to officiating, not by the fans mind you, but the way each game is called. PAC officiating strives to get it right to an annoying degree. See review each play for 5 minutes....ugh. I would be interested to see the number of penalties each conference commits each year. Then, break it down between ranked teams playing verses unranked teams playing. Ranked vs unranked would be another metric. We as fans love to find 'Homerisms' against our team. I believe the world is out to get Oregon....every game!! But, 14-0 gets an eyebrow raise from just about everyone.
  20. Well now, wouldn't that be a headliner??!! It's incredibly early, but I've been thinking. This usually gets me in trouble, but it will get the gears turning in this forum that's for sure. It's no secret that The NFL is the end goal for College Football players. To get to the League is a dream come true. However, getting drafted anywhere out of the first round is a financial crap shoot. Sure, you do have guaranteed money, but it most likely wouldn't be the payday that Oregon faithful would muster up if we finish the season with a PAC title and a respectable showing in the Bowl game(s). How Bo projects in the draft could very well set him up for an Oregon run next year. If he doesn't get invited to NY for the Heisman ceremony, what are the odds that he gets invited next year with Hawaii, Texas Tech, and PSU slated for non-con stat padding? Bo could very well eclipse 50 TD's next year along with back to back PAC Championships. The impact to his draft stock would be demonstrably evident. He would be a first rounder with the 'Signing Bo-nus' to match. Sticking around for an invite to NY and a first round pick could mean the difference of $30-$40 million guaranteed. 6-7 weeks to clarity.
  21. I love the personalities. It is definitely part of what makes CFB a treat each Fall Saturday. Saban whining about NIL and ATM getting the best players. Mike Gundy from OK st. I'm a man and I'm 40, rant. Corso donning the head gear.... And on....and on. I LOVE this time of year!!
  22. Oregon wouldn't be anywhere close to 6 wins without him. Do we get to 12 without him? Not close IMO.
  23. These last 6-7 games, CC included, need to have Bo get at least 4 TD's a game. He got 5!! Potentially 6 games left and I believe there is 4 games per with a couple netting 5+. I believe 50 and a 12-1 team that is going to the playoffs gets an invite to New York for the Heisman. We shall see...
  24. Reading a recent article about BONIX and his offensive explosion left me wondering; Just how many Td's can BONIX get this year? At first glance I see 6 games and 20 TD's and one can reasonable say that another 20 would be reasonable. This line of reasoning is flawed. The first game had 0 TD's. The next 5 games came against average teams at best sans BYU. However, UCLA and Utah would be a good test. But, there are Cal and Colorado up following UCLA. UW and Utah follow with OSU finishing off the regular season. I think BONIX gets more than 20 TD's to finish the season. Here's my prognostication; UCLA) 4 total TD's CAL) 4 total TD's Colorado) 6 total TD's UW) 4 total TD's UU) 4 total TD's OSU) 5 total TD's I believe Bo is going to ramp up TD's, not necessarily because the teams will be more agreeable to give up TD's, but that the whole team is gelling quite well for starters. Oregon's offensive line just seems to be getting better and better as the season progresses. This helps Bo have increasing time to run through his progressions. The entire receiving core is also getting better at route running. Add a conference championship game of another 4 TD's and there is a potential of 31 additional TD's to finish the year. Why is this significant? Marcus Mariota had 57 TD's in his Heisman year. He had a passing efficiency of 186.33 and a total offense of 4452 yards. It also helped that MM took Oregon to the playoffs to secure that Heisman. Can Bo get to 57? I don't think so. But, this is the kind of year that Bo is building right now. Maybe not Heisman quality, but a top 5 and possibly the second best stats for an Oregon QB in any given year. Whether Bo knows 50+ TD's remains to be seen. But, currently, Bo is 7th in Heisman rank with prognosticators. It's a real probability that Bo gets an invite if he keeps going the way he is going. WAR DUCK!!!!!!!
  25. I think our D is better than theirs. Our run game is better. Air attack is about the same. That's the difference. Oregon 45-38.
