  1. This is November football. To be the best the Ducks must beat the best. With the Trojans and Huskies on tap there is much to prove. It’s time to waddle the walk. There can be no excuses. Go players! Go coaches! GO DUCKS! I admit bias, but I believe these Ducks are built to succeed. The best is yet to come - Sinatra.
  2. Oregon is No. 2 nationally with 6.36 yards per carry and has 26 rushes of 20 yards or more, the most in the country.
  3. I raise this toast to coach Samples, Assistant Head Coach and Running Backs Coach. The running backs UO has are the best in the nation. The room is deep, varied and productive. Coach Samples has: Recruited top backs with complementary skills and styles. Taught his players to follow blocking, read defenders, break tackles, and block skillfully. Managed the players and the room for high rushing yards per game and yards per carry. He knows his players and uses them very effectively. May coach Samples be recognized and honored for his skills and contributions to Ducks football.
  4. I really meant by “our” the coach’s go-to back and I believe it is because of Whittington’s experience, reliability and ball security. The proof is the number of carries he gets. You are certainly most welcome to your choice and opinion.
  5. Whittington is our go-to back. Beyond that, he can block, catch the ball and get YAC, and is the best RB at protecting the ball. There is depth in the WR and TE rooms. I say rely on it
  6. I live on the east coast in South Carolina. All week on local and national radio all I’ve heard is callers and hosts bashing the Ducks. I do not understand, other than the light schedule strength, why Lanning and this team get so little acclaim. Because of it I hope our Ducks overwhelm and dominate the Hawkeyes today, even adding style points. Go Ducks. Smash Iowa.
  7. Having this discussion in Novembers is bonkers.
  8. Watching Wei Lin last night I began to wonder if I might still have a future playing in the Chinese pro league? (I am 74, white and short)
  9. If there is an all-american DB available who fits all DL criteria then Ducks will probably pursue him. DL wants the best players and he likes to stack key positions to create high competition within the group. It may not happen, but do not be surprised if it does.
  10. “the elite teams are going to feast on this mess.” AMEN, brother.
  11. It’s the first of November heading into the grind of the football season. Head coaches have already been fired with 4-5 weeks remaining in the conference season and the new 12-team format playoffs is looming after the conference championship games. High profile programs are conducting head coach searches mid season. Will Stein’s name is being mentioned and surely his agent is fielding some calls. This puts Stein in an interesting position. As Oregon’s OC he is already at an elite football program with talent, facilities, resources, competing for a national title. Most opportunities would be a step up in title and money, but would be a step back program-wise. Coach Lanning noted that, “The grass is damn green in Eugene”. There is truth in his words. Should the Ducks continue winning the season will continue into January. By then some of the top jobs will likely be filled. A principle reason that some teams dismissed their coaches was to get a jump start on hiring while the field is wide open. Will Stein has a contract with Oregon containing clauses and stipulations as its terms. Coach Stein has an Offense of players to which he has responsibilities. There exists a relationship with the university, the coaches and the community of fans and supporters. It will be interesting to see the career path of Will Stein reveal itself. Surely the speculations about it will continue.. There are many snaps ahead in the 2025 season. How will they play out?
  12. Mason ‘s from Oregon. Could this be a precursor of things to come? College Football QB Power Rankings: Pitt's Mason Heintschel skyrockets to No. 1 amid breakout freshman season CBSsports
  13. “Just Win Baby” -Al Davis The rest doesn’t matter
  14. I am concerned too about the remaining opponents and the Ducks repeated inconsistencies. The first half play calling yesterday, given the weather and opponent, was confusing to me. From the first offensive series, QB Moore seemed antsy and confused, plus he was struggling frequently to grip the ball. Great plays and then whiffs by the OL and DL are beginning to lower my expectations of this team’s eventual ceiling. I hope that I am wrong, but I no longer see this team reaching the CFP Semis, and think it must play better to finish strong and make the playoffs. Ugh. Go Ducks.
  15. At least 1% better every day. The Ducks are being built for the games at the end of the season. This team has a lot left in their tank. Go Ducks!
  16. The best surprise is no surprise. Go Ducks. I was surprised that Brock Thomas came in early and played respectfully good QB. He had composure and sound fundamentals. It also surprised me that the Ducks showed as yet unseen formations and used a few “trick” plays against Rutgers not keeping them under cover until hunting bigger game.
  17. This is why “the grass is damn green in Eugene”. Ducks thrive in the rain. Go Ducks.
  18. It doesn’t really matter much to me, because there have been so many great ones (and a few clunkers too). Coach Lanning must juggle so many aspects the others before him never did. Being a head coach today is massively complicated. Lanning sets True North for the program (sic). He has assembled a large and qualified support staff. Together they have greater capabilities and skills than any staff before them at UO. Go Ducks.
  19. There are statistics and opinions in this thread. The RB and OC coaches have all the same information plus they know at game time who is nicked up, distracted by outside life issues , along with which ones practiced and worked harder leading up to the game. They have studied the opposing defense and its tendencies. I’m very satisfied to watch who plays, and their workload as determined by the coaches.
  20. Coach Lanning needs to be grooming his leads on the next Will Stein Plus OC. Coach Stein will be the target of many programs. I hope that Stein will stay until the Ducks win the national championship, so he will have bigger and better opportunities.
