Is 12-Team CFB Playoff Format Too Much or Just Right?
Yes, in an 8 team format, the SEC would not sign off on automatic qualifiers for conferemce champions. IMHO, this is about money. No schools can afford less games that equal less revenue. 4 games being played around mid-december would not be any problem for the regular season schedule. 4 teams eliminated. And those 4 winners will have at least 2 weeks to prepare for the next round. The 4 teams with a bye will have 3 or 4 weeks to gather eust. If anything the Natty will be played mid January. These game payouts will probably exceed $15 million for each team, win or lose. Imagine playing in 3 or 4 games to win a natty. The money may be greater than you receive for the season. Even if the powers that be ( SEC BIG) want the first 2 rounds completed in 2 successive weeks so the semis are played around New Years Day, well so be it. The money is simply to good to pass up.

Amazon Exec Very Interested in College Football
Smith72, thanks for posting the Wilner article. For us fans, the elephant in the room is the upcoming media rights package. It feels like these on going negotiations are just crswling along. Or going nowhere! Certainly thats not the case. This is an area where GK has experience and should be a strength for the PAC 10. As Wilner suggests the mix between networks, cable and streaming could most benefit the PAC 10. Time will tell...... My concern still is and always will be the arrogant presidents and chancellors standing in the way. Remember, Direct TV wanted to carry the PAC 12 network. The 10 fools didnt like the dollars that the cable giant was offering. They felt the PAC 12 network would out perform those dollars. Well how did that work out?

If Ducks Win Out, Who Do We Help?...USC?
So many things have to happen in order for the Ducks to get a CFP invite. IMHO.... Ducks must win out. One game at a time. Roll each and every opponent. They must be an impressive 11-1 going into the P-12 Title Game. usc needs to win out and beat at 10-1, ucla. They need to live up to their press clippings and cowherds natty annointing for them. The trojans carry more chache than the bruins. Writers and talking heads will bring a Duck vs usc game to the top of the national spotlight. Beating ucla for a 2nd time may not move the CFP committee's emotional meter. 2 other important things MUST HAPPEN. First, Georgia must beat Tennessee. No committee member will put Oregon ahead of a 11-1 Georgia. OBD's had their chance and got destroyed. Chasing a rematch will be more compelling than asking the committee members to have Oregon jump The Dawgs.... 2nd, Georgia needs to hand Bama, Ole Miss or LSU their 2nd or 3rd loss of the season in the SEC title game. That scenario will shorten the top 4 to Georgia, tOSU, Clemson and a 12-1 Oregon An undefeated TCU could and would be problematic for our Ducks. GO DUCKS! Destroy Cal. ..

Byron Cardwell Rumblings
Great comments and insights on this thread. With NIL, anyone can and may transfer out. Consider that some players,, around the country, who have great seasons may get better NIL offers. No matter how frustrating this situation becomes, i will wish them well and hope they prosper. I have poured 44 years into my industry and helped develope a profit center within an industry. A competitor recently made me an offer that 5 years ago i would have taken. Timing is everthing.........

LA Times Columnist: Pac-12, Big 12 Punishing USC, Texas?
Was down in SoCal at a business conference. My U Of O cap was meant to be disrespectful to my SoCal associates. Many who are rabid trojanless fans. All they did was complain that they were cheated out of victory. And that they will kick r butts in the title game... GIVE ME A BREAK! The pissing, whining and moaning over the PAC 12 refs calls in the Utah/usuck reminded me of 3 things: 1. How dilusional trojan fans are about their teams. And their sense of entitlement 2. How dilusional the leg lifters are about their teams. And their sense of entitlement 3. My ex wife's constant pissing, whining and moaning 26 years after my parole from my life sentence with her. And her still sense of entitlement toward all that I have and own. I will never change my ex wifes attitude or actions. But thankfully every year we can wipe that smirk off the leg lifters faces. Let's hope we get a shot at usuck this year in the P12CG. Question is will the Trojans make the game? If not the officials will be blamed. GO DUCKS.........

Ducks Buzzsaw Bruins in ESPN Gameday Romp
Jordan, nice recap article of what our Ducks have done since the September beatdown in Georgia. The Ducks picked themselves up, made incremental changes and improvements and the Bruins found out what a real Top 10 Team is....... It appears each week Coach Lanning and his staff work to fix what needs fixing. The players respond and show improvement. Actual player development taking place in Eugene. Well done coaches and players. No let downs or reading press clippings. GO DUCKS!

OBD Prediction Contest vs. UCLA!
Ducks 49-27 3 4 224 passing yards Ducks need to score often. Need 3 stops by the defense and a few turnovers. This game should bot be close. If it is the Bruins have the talent to steal the win. GO DUCKS!

How UCLA’s Win Streak Will End in Autzen
Alex, thanks for the article. Your thoughts and analysis create a great recipe for a Duck victory over the Bruins. All the ingredients you spelled out are in place for the Ducks to bring the Bruins win streak to a close. I would only add that the Ducks D needs to step up and defend the home turf. Defend it with smart play and violence. Get the home crowd involved early and often. Yes, the Bruins are good but their record and stats are built on a strength of schedule in the 100's. This is their first and biggest road test game of 2022. The rain could be a factor but i do not expect this to be a close game. The Bruins lalaland fantasy will come to an end. GO DUCKS.......

Poor Bruins...They Have to Take-On, 'Crazy Eyes!'
Absolutely! Lets hope he can start his climb to greatness this Saturday....

Poor Bruins...They Have to Take-On, 'Crazy Eyes!'
Flowe has the Mike Singletary look! When he gets enough game day reps to gain much needed experience, look out... . Flowe is naturally gifted, perhaps the make up of a freak. Let's hope this Saturday he puts it all together and has much needed face time with DTR and Charbonnet. Preferably in the Bruin backfield. Thanks Charles for this great picture. Your endless hours do not go unnoticed.

Is It Possible for Ducks to Reach CFB Playoffs?
Lrod makes a good point that the Ducks need to take all their opponents apart on the field. No close games or squeakers. Kick butt in everygame. DazeNconfused made a great point that a 12-1 Duck squad, on a 12 game win streak would probably jump a 1 loss Clemson, TCU or OK State. As long as they dont struggle against lesser opponents. Clemson has long term credibility in the bank with CFP Committee. Do the Ducks? Also, the SEC has a scenario that could arise and complicate the 4 playoff teams. If Vols beat Bama, Georgia beats the Vols and then Bama beats Georgia (hope not) in SEC Title game then you could have: Bama 12-1 (SEC Champ) In The Dawgs 12-1 In Vols 11-1 win over Bama ? If the Vols play Georgia tough it will sit on their resume better than our 49-3 beat down. I despise Bama but it might be in OBD's best interest for Bama to beat the Vols. Remember all CFP decisions are tilted toward the all mighty SEC.

Is It Possible for Ducks to Reach CFB Playoffs?
It could be possible but a tall order for sure. A 12-1 Duck team would not be a lock for the CFP. A number of teams would have to play there way out of consideration. Bama, t OSU, Clemson, OK State and Georgia would have to have 2 losses for the Ducks to jump them. Fun to think about but 10 wins would be a great first year. Along with a top 10 recruiting class

PAC-12: You Better Get Your Rear in Gear, or May You Rest in Peace
Byron, thanks for the article. Lots to agree and disagree about. Also many great thoughts and ideas feom the Forum members. However, decisions made need to make sense to your conference members and media partners. In fairness to Houston, in order to minimize travel, a pod of 4 or 5 schools in Texas and Oklahoma would need to be added. A pod of schools. Does that move work for ESPN, Fox or other cable or plug in networks? Maybe! But it does not move the money meter. Will the viewers in that region watch the Longhorns, Aggies, Sooners or Houston in head to head time slots? We all probably know that answer.... Adding teams does not add to the value of the media rights contract, it dilutes it. 10 teams splitting $250 milllion or 14 teams splitting $250 million? Which one will the PAC presidents choose? Texas, Oklahoma, usc and ucla bring high value media rights to their new respective conferences. The teams being mentioned in the thread don't bring that type of increase Streaming service companies bring a entire different need to the table. Amazon has more subscribers than the networks can get eyeballs. Streamers need content, especially those that are building a sports division like Amazon. The PAC provides any streamer a ready made sports broadcast partner. GK knows this and it appears he and his team are working thru the progressions. There are many on this great Forum who want GK to land a great deal with the networks. That shipped has sailed. Fox does not want the PAC and spent big on the BIG. ESPN said the PAC has about a $300 million annual media rights value. Maybe the writing is on the wall. Great discussion topic and great responses. The only chip the PAC has is late night broadcasts on Friday and Saturday night, at this point. Does anybody believe in magic?

Worried About the Bruins?
The Ducks should and will win this game as long as the Ducks offense doesnt stop scoring drives with mistakes and penalties. The Oregon O should score 7 or 8 TD's. The Bruins haven't played any team with an O line like the Ducks. Or against a truly high powered offense being executed at a high level by a top QB. The Ducks D will have its handful with the Bruins offense and DTR. If they hold the edges and pressure DTR then the Bruins will make mistakes. This game may hinge on just a turnover or a few 3 and outs. Gonna a be a long 2 weeks but we should feel good about the improvements the Ducks have made since Georgia. No reason to worry! Reason to be excited. Want to be in the PAC title game? Beat UCLA.. Game day would be nice but why would ESPN promote a big game that Fox will be televising nationally? Hope I am wrong, the PAC needs the exposure and the Ducks need Herbie and the crew to picl against us. GO DUCKS!

Oregon Ducks Football: Trap Game in the Desert?
Alex, thanks for the article. While i dont feel its a trap game, I agree on all your key points necessary for a Duck victory. IMHO, the Ducks are improving every week. The defense held Furd to 3 first half points and was in solid control until Coach Lanning gave the 2nd and 3rd units more valuable playing time. Back ups get playing time either from injuries or mop up time. D starters are improving and i want to give them their due. Now they need to take it to the next level and Zona will provide a good challenge. Zona will not stop the Ducks O. Only the Ducks can stop the Ducks. Stop the lack of focus penalties, stop the immature angry penalties and just execute the offense. There is no reason the Ducks shouldnt score 8 or 9 touchdowns in this game... Every game at every level is a challenge. This game will be no different. Zona has a new attitude with a top level HC and a gun slinger for a QB. They will be ready to play. But the bigger question is how will the Wildcats stop the Ducks? Go Ducks......

Another Coaching Opening for Dilly . . Wisconsin
Could be a good relanding spot for Urban Meyer. His personal elevator may not go all the way to the top but the man can ● Build a solid staff ● Recruit, recruit, recruit ● Flat out coach and direct ● Motivate boosters ● Help Whisky compete on the National level. If the paycheck is right and top NIL money is available, well who knows.

AP & Coaches Polls...Look at the Comparison
All the Ducks can do is control their own destiny. Win out and be in a position to take advantage of any chaos that may happen. Win out and the Ducks play in their 4th strait PAC title game. The Rose Bowl is a great goal to achieve in Lannings first year. The only sure way to get to the PAC title game is to go 9-0. 8-1 may not be good enough. However, its all about winning the next game and nothing more. Afterall, one more loss and the CFP dream is gone. One loss and we could be in the Alamo Bowl or worse. This team has to much talent and promise to not be in the 2023 Rose Bowl. GO DUCKS........

Win Out and a Playoff Spot is Likely There for the Ducks
While it's fun to ponder and kick a CFP spot around the ODB Forum,,well it's a tall task at best. Not that a 12-1 Duck team wouldnt be worth consideration. Running the table in the PAC with a win over an undefeated top 5 USC in the PAC title game would put the Ducks deep in the conversation. It truly is fun to dream. But the deck is stacked against the Ducks. IMHO, Bama, The Dawgs, tOSU and Clemson have to play their way out of the top 4. It could happen I guess. In the next 3 weeks much will be decided in the PAC. usc, ucla, Utah and WSU have big games against each other. Including ucla playing the Ducks. As one other Forum member mentioned, the only game that matters is the next one. OBD's need to clean up a few things and beat Arizona. The desert hadn't been good to the Ducks. The Duck offense is rolling pretty good (minus penalties, personal fouls and showboatong.) But the O did overcome all that unlike during the MC era. The D is improving. The D needs to play 60 minutes like they played the first 30 minutes of the Furd game. If you can watch a replay of that first half you can see the D's improvement. GO DUCKS.........

End of 'Shout' as We Know It?
It is frustrating and concerning that TT continues to struggle when given his opportunity to play. However, i continue to remind myself that both Ty and Jay are true freshmen in Dilly's offense. Takes time to learn and execute the system. Also takes time and playing time experiences to read defenses, audible, check down and execute the RPO. QB player development was not a high priority under MC. Playing time for the backups and 2nd stringers was virtually non-existent. Why? Because MC loved to keep games close. In 2020 and 2021 the Ducks thrived in killing red zone scoring opportunities with penalties. This helped keep other teams in the games till the end. Not much opportunity for back ups to get playing time.I will conrinue to support their learning curve, especially with a good lead in the game. Auburn struggled and lost because Ashford made numerous mistakes and misreads as part of his learning curve. Personally I will support Coach Lanning's decision to give TT, JB and any backups critical playing time. It is critical for their development. Ask yourself if you would like close games again? The drive killing penalties, personal fouls and showboating are frustrating. They definitely disrupt the offense's timing and flow. However, this years squad is overcoming those penalties and that, to me, is what matters most. Winning the game........ As for the referees? WTH, WTH, WTH? Just like most things the PAC leadership just seems to stand by, recognize the problem then do nothing. Poor, inconsistent officiating hurts the on field product that you are selling to the customers! Come on GK, lets get this fixed........ Nice work Coach Lanning, staff and players for a great win and a 4-1 start. Its right on the money. Keep this train rolling. .. GO DUCKS.........

Go UCLA!
It's so difficult to wish for the little puppies to win at anything. It kind of turns my stomach and wrenches my soul. Now that we are in a one division, unbalanced schedule format there exists scenarios where an 8-1 team is left out of the title game. And that includes our Ducks. IMHO, both the bruins and little puppies are overrated and have had soft schedules. However the Bruins will not get past the Utes, sc traitors or Oregon. The Bruins will have 3 losses in conference. So my pull is for the bruins to win. Would love for OBD's to hand the stench up north their 2nd loss. Under this format the only way to ensure a 4th straight title game is to go 9-0 in conference. Pethaps the only way for the Ducks to make it to the CFP is to beat a 13-0 usc traitor team. Debbieduck is right, the higher the ranked teams we beat, the better road to the CFP. GO DUCKS!

Will The Ducks Blow Out Stanford?
In PAC play the Furd or Tree or whatever have surrendered 40.5 points per game. The traitors and little pups can put up points. So can our Ducks! As long as Bo and the offensive unit plays solid and mistake free then the Ducks will put up 40 plus points! Now Shaw has stifled some high powered Duck offenses before. Those Furd teams had multiple future NFL players, this squad maybe not as many. The game could be a blowout if the Duck D plays like they did the first 3 quarters of the BYU game. Who knows? Go Ducks......

Miami Got Beat by..Middle Tennessee?
What an awesome day. A double decker dessert! MIami loses with its no scoring offensive gane plan. And the Canes send their fans home warly. Oregon wins with a wild surge in the last 3 minutes. WOW....... Now the Beavers can put the cherry on the top by beating the sc traitors.
-
We Need USC to Win
Now that the PAC moved to a single division the margin for error is zero. All you can control are the games on your schedule and winning those games. The sc traitors, with their 2 faced school president, dont face our Ducks or huskies this year. What an amazing scheduling break....... So who do you think in the PAC, besides Utah, can beat sc? Besides the Utes, Beavus and Wazzu may be their toughest opponents. The traitors have a soft schedule..... Consider this, lets just say that sc beats Utah and runs the table. They finish 9-0 in conference. If Utah beats us and finishes 8-1, then the Ducks are headed to San Antonio for another riveting Alamo Bowl. That thought is not inspiring. The CFP is a long shot for OBD's. If the stars align and we get an invite that would be amazing. The PAC Championship and Rose Bowl should be the goal. The Ducks need help from other schools to beat the sc traitors and keep them out of the PAC title game. IMHO, sc making the CFP, the PAC title game or even the Rose Bowl is not in the best interest of the PAC 10 and its members. Stop and ponder how much damage that lying, 2 faced sc president did to the PAC. She blocked Texas and OU to the conference, then she blocked expansion with other BIG 12 teams last year. At that time the PAC was in the drivers seat. She touted conference tradition, history and Rose Bowl for standing pat. All while planning their escape to the BIG. Sorry for the rant Forum mrmbers but I will only support conference members. sc is a BIG member and as always since 1958 my support is for the PAC. Come on you pesky Rodents start the traitors out right on their 2 year farewell tour! Beat their butts off GO DUCKS, too!
