  1. And it is my favorite! The theme of the shots is a boxing ring with Troy Franklin showing off the Yell-O!
  2. I am hoping this is not a subscription article, so Oregon is No. 7 in the nation with only three recruits! 7. OREGON The class: Mookie Cook (No. 10), Kwame Evans Jr. (No. 11) and Jackson Shelstad (No. 57). The skinny: Dana Altman always has Oregon in the mix with some of the nation's top players and as the early signing period kicks off he's led the Ducks to the top ranked class in the Pac-12 and on the West Coast. Cook is a prodigal son of sorts. He may have left his home in Portland to play his final two years of high school ball in Arizona, but he's headed back to college. He committed, de-committed and then committed again. But, the quasi drama should prove to be worth it. He's a big wing who can playmaker for others, plays with athleticism and is very versatile on the defensive end. He's got some young Andre Igoudala in his game. As for Evans, there aren't many in the class who have his high of a ceiling for improvement. He moves incredibly well for a 6-foot-10 kid and has tremendous instincts on defense. He could eventually turn into a big man who can stretch the floor or make some plays off the bounce. As for Shelstad, he's another who is headed to his home state school. He is a tough floor general, plays with confidence, makes pull-up jumpers and simply makes those around him better. 3. It isn't maybe. As I wrote, over 90% of the time, if not 95% of the time--the verbals stick. You are new at this. The terminology they use has been around for the 25 years that I've been the message boards, writing articles and following recruiting.
  4. These are not signed players until the December signing or the February signing date. Right now all of them are verbally committed to sign for the 2023 class, which means something because the vast majority do stick with their official verbal commitment. Oregon will pick off one or two on occasion, and sometimes we lose one or two, but it mostly holds. For example 5-Star QB Donte Moore has been verbally committed since July...
  5. This is a big recruiting weekend, and not just for this February, but the staff is planting seeds for a great crop in 2024. 2024 5 Star Edge Elijah Rushing 5 Star IOL Isendre Ahfua 5 Star RB Jason Brown 4 Star WR James Madison II 4 Star CB Dakoda Fields
  6. Wowsa. This is the least amount of trash-talk toward Oregon I can ever remember over the last 40 years from the Huskies. There is a ton of respect from them between the snarls of hate, as these pups know that a whacking is waiting for them in Eugene. About Dan Lanning: "The best road win of Lanning's career is a close, come from behind win over WSU. Was flat out embarrassed at Georgia. They played in the conference title game last year and this year play all the top half of the conference teams at home and skip USC. Two-thirds of a season and accomplishing almost nothing away from home, thus is bit early to declare this first time head coach a success. As long as UW hires the right coach (and I think we have), I’m not concerned with who Oregon hires." "So, as long as DeBoer recruits to his system and does he has in the past, we will get to a point where we can dominate Oregon and all of Knight's $billions. Oregon will lose those mercenary coaches from the SEC, so no system will have time to develop." "Oregon can't change its location so coaches will treat it like a stepping stone until Eugene doesn't suck anymore, and that's not happening anytime. Ever." "Current players... perhaps... former players... hate Oregon as much if not more than we fans do."
  7. Great stuff David, and after pondering--I agree with your rankings at the top, although a number of national pundits would not. USC gets a lot of love for such a skinny portfolio...
  8. Being negative is fine, and analysis like this is superb for us fans to know what to look for and ponder about. (The only bad negative is excessive negative done several times a day, and nobody does that here anymore. So I never want to discourage writing about the negative, as that is what a forum is for!) Great one, AnotherOD! You are quite right, as this Oregon defense is not where Lanning/Lupoi want it to be yet. But I wonder if more is in store as both the secondary and front seven improve, and as our defensive coaches can see what our players can execute? This would be a good game to roll some new items out? Michael Penix, Washington's QB, is outstanding and can convert on any third down. How do we mess him up? What tactics could Oregon throw at him? What a great time for a shameless-plug for an article tomorrow on FishDuck about just that question! DazeNconfused has another dandy for us to ponder... Is this a hint?
  9. It is unfortunate, but even the fellows on the ESPN Playoff show spoke of how you need, "style points," of which really means, "bury your opponent with far more points than is needed to win the game." Oregon is in a beauty contest now, and needs to pile up as many points as possible. Developing talent in these last 4-5 games may have to take a back-seat to looking dominant. Good points David...
  10. Fantastic reminders Joshua, of how the HC influences the offense, just the prior coach did in a negative way. It gives us comfort over the long-term...THANK YOU.
  11. It feels good, but TCU will not make it , IMHO. We would have a tough first round game if we make it, but geez, if we did? To dream like this...
  12. Gosh I love this time of year! We are No. 6 in the nation in football, and entering a stretch run with two of three at Autzen...and then Womens and Mens Basketball starts. The Women have a new freshman star in Grace VanSlooten, and the men are loaded with talent. Richardson is BACK. Donte is GREAT! Bittle is a rebounding machine. Barthelemy, the transfer from Colorado at shooting guard is going to eat-it-up. Then we go to Diamond Ducks, where we have a new pitcher who throws 97 mph, and a new 6'6" bopper who got a home run on a mishit in a recent fall game versus visiting all-stars? Whew! Count your blessings my FishDuck Friends, as we Oregon fans get to watch a ton of WINNING! N'Faly Donte Good Gosh I am such a homer...

  15. For the article to be authentic, there must be some proof behind "our sources," and as we have seen in other journalistic arenas--that means it is usually made up. There are times to wring our hands and discuss the obvious negative; in 2016--I let everyone discuss what was happening with the Helfrich program, as I did last year with Mario. But now? When we are No.6 in the nation, and in "a magical time" we have people who must find and beat the negative on us at our most fun time? We will find out in about six weeks if we have coaches next season, so can we please enjoy the next six weeks? (or until we lose?) My thanks, Charles
  16. Yep. A standard practice for me was to check the time and with a minute left in the half--head to the rest rooms before everyone else does. But now with what Lanning teams do in the "middle-eight" minutes...that might not be best practices after all!
  17. Funniest....thread....ever. I never said I was noble...
  18. That is a really good point. I think the Bulldogs are going to crunch everyone, and I'd rather take on one of the others in the first round, if we get there.
  19. Being No. 6 in both polls is cool, but the one that counts is on Tuesday afternoon, the Playoff rankings. If we are No. 6 there, then we have a real chance if we win-out.
