  1. Today's game on Comcast is on Fox Sports 1, even though it is announced as on ESPN.
  2. The KING of the one-liners strikes again. (Referring to watching SDST vs. Boise State) Made me laugh...
  3. GREAT idea, and thanks for posting it! Oregon State is going to have their hands full playing at Utah...
  4. Hello My OBD FishDuck Forum Friends! What is your prediction versus the 'Furd? Take your shot and let's have fun with it... Lets get these predictions started and remember I look for the spread with then the closest score that has the spread correct. I need all the data from you! Entries without all the information are invalid, and predictions on other threads don't count as I am not going to hunt them all down. I am no longer going to PM three or four people who don't read directions each week. Please follow directions, as I need all that is below for tiebreakers: --the winner --the score --the amount of turnovers Oregon creates --the number of sacks Oregon records on the opposing team --the number of passing yards by the Ducks. My prediction is: Oregon 48-20, 3, 5, 321 Remember this day when we pounded the 'Furd, and Thomas Tyner did that incredible spin-move to score!
  5. We have three objectives with the 'Feed: 1) Provide the one place that is free to everyone to get the news/articles about Oregon Sports, and 2) we are not bringing them all to you, as there is massive redundancy among all the sites. We curate the best of each Duck topic and bring them to you, in addition to the major news that all Oregon fans should be informed of. The final one, 3) We are bringing the tasty topics and tweets that can copied and brought to the main forum area for discussion with this wonderful community. We will restrict the number of articles to the FishDuck Feed to under 50, thus it may be 40-something, or the Focused Forty articles and tweets to be aware of for each day. News and articles updated throughout the day!
  6. To me, the "Prevent Offense" coined by 30Duck is still my all time favorite. Although Steven A's, "Mari...because he doesn't know what to do with the 'O' is pretty funny!
  7. When Mike Stoops came to Arizona from being DC at Oklahoma, he was dismissive of the Pac-12, and just knew he was going to eat us up. Later, after he was fired--he admitted that, "Coaching in the Pac-12 is much better than people know."
  8. A defense that holds opponents to an average of 21 points per game like the 2001 squad, AND we have a 40 point per game average offensive scoring? Can you say....
  9. And the talk of adding SMU for the Dallas market? Their stadium is only 32,000...geez.
  10. Ten conference games? While the SEC has eight? Sure, let the B1G tie their arm behind their back for Playoff qualification, but they will be paid well for it. Is that what Oregon fans want?
  11. He makes a good point that ESPN, Fox, CBS, etc. are media companies, while Amazon is into everything and thus could provide a ton more services and create merchandising bonds yet unseen to most. Going all-in has great risks in many directions, but it could also be a gargantuan contract as well. Wilner has talked to many industry insiders for his information, and going "all-in" with Amazon is the option he suggests. it could certainly save the Pac-12 and retain everyone if the numbers are high enough, and it could even entice other schools who would want a piece of it. Good matchup with the Aztecs for example... Wilner did say that Amazon could buy the media rights to the games, and then sell games/slots/dates to the usual broadcasters to have games available for television. If the numbers are high enough to save the Pac-12, then it could become a serious option.
  12. Here is interesting feedback from John Canzano about it... GLOOM AND DOOM: Jon Wilner and I posted a fresh episode of our “Canzano & Wilner” podcast this week. We talked a little about the hysteria and anxiety out there, specifically this week’s “gloom and doom” report from CBS Sports. Ruminating on the “imminent” demise of the Pac-12 has broad appeal, I guess. Big 12 fans are into it. Big Ten fans are interested, too. That kind of piece will get lots of page views and prey on the anxiety of fans. But there wasn’t much in the way of new information in the report. Like, almost nothing new. It was also interesting that none of the other major media outlets picked up on it. I don’t think Oregon-Washington or the “Four Corners” schools from the Pac-12 are going anywhere in this cycle. I am not predicting an implosion. In fact, I believe the Pac-12 will sign a media rights deal before the end of the year, possibly add 1-4 schools via expansion, and play on. I took this position in early July, not because I want or need it to be true, but because more than half of the conference’s ADs and a trio of university presidents have backed that up. My mantra here will always be: sourced… in-depth… reporting and commentary. I suspect the entire “eventual collapse of the Pac-12” narrative is being pushed by consultants and public-relations teams, who love nothing more than drama. It results in billing, but it’s disingenuous, isn’t it? Everything, as the Romans will tell you, eventually collapses.
  13. Please keep in mind that I am not an advocate of it. As I wrote in my article--I want an attacking defense that creates turnovers and sacks, but that is not what the coaches are doing presently. So I am simply explaining and presenting what our coaches are doing. I defend how it works and how it is logical, but it is not my preference either. I do admire the defensive staff's adjustments, but wish we could do more. Again...we had six man blitzes at times against Eastern Washington...and got nothing. We simply may not have the skills refined yet to carry out the Georgia MINT defense, IMHO.
  14. GeotechDuck...please always post with great responses such as that one. Long ones are fine as long as people put paragraph spacing every three or four sentences, and keep the bottom of the post tight...all as you did. There are others having a hard time learning that, but the way you write is informative, entertaining and easy to read. Perfect. And THANKS for the content of your post. I know Hopkins at ScoopDuck has written off the Pac-12 for survival, but I am thinking that if the winners in the conference can receive half of the Playoff/Bowl revenue when they make it, and the powers-that-be realize it will be easier to make that Playoff in the Pac-12 versus the B1G, then Oregon and the Pac-12 can survive and thrive. Especially if we have additional revenue from streaming.
  15. This is great stuff above, and I love the final sentence. I have been stunned at the substitution patterns this year on defense, but I don't want to hijack the thread, as it is a great topic for another time.
  16. The essence of the strategy is above. It is not always what we want, but what works for the entire team. Another component that many forget is how those long drives shorten the game, and the give the opponent even less game-time to come back. Then if Oregon answers the score, it is demoralizing for the opponent, considering how hard it is for them to score. You cannot give up chunks like that on defense, even if it burns clock, unless you have an offense that is efficient in scoring. (That is what Dilly said often in pre-season interviews....that he wanted the offense to be efficient.)
  17. Here is a page of Zone Blitz defensive analyses in our analysis library for those who want to blow some time before the game. What a resource! The Oregon Defense: ZONE BLITZES FISHDUCK.COM Charles Fischer of FishDuck.com shares analysis articles about the Zone Blitzes of the Oregon Defense.
