With projected heavy rainfall on Saturday PM--the afternoon game has been moved to before the noon game at 10:00 AM! Seven McGee just at receiver? Trikwese Bridges at Safety? And Jeffrey Bassa is not back at safety, but still at ILB? Interesting! There is always something you can glean from these--especially in the early days of Coach Lanning as we learn more about him and his style. For those who read my FishDuck article a month ago about "De-Recruitment," you will find the quote in the title aligning with that culture. Everything Dan Lanning said after Spring practice No. 1 247SPORTS.COM After Spring football practice No. 1, head coach Dan Lanning met with the media to overview how things went. Here's a full transcript of the questions and answers "What can we get better at right now? Let's have a grower's mindset. Let's be learners and growers. Let's go out here and figure out what can I do better?" I love the culture he is building already!

Justin Flowe Looks Healthy, and Balloon Helmets
Charles Fischer replied to Charles Fischer's topic in Our Beloved Ducks
Yep...I was actually thinking of the original Star Trek episode with the telepathic beings.... (The pilot with Christopher Pike as Captain) Now THAT is a helmet! -
We have a picture from Zachary Neel, and a short report that Flowe looks good and is "bouncing" around the drills. Look at those huge "Brainiac-type" helmets!

Wow. While it is not a surprise, it is a disappointment to see corruption in the Non-Revenue sports. Thanks for posting it.

Hello Grumpy, and welcome to the forum. I am glad to see you post an opinion and would encourage you to do it often! As for your topic...well, I do not picture TV Networks broadcasting the games of Western Oregon University in Monmouth, for example, or other D-II teams. Thus attendance would depend upon people coming to their games, and I'm not sure I picture that in the spring--even if there was nothing else. Interesting to ponder though, for other alternatives.

Imagine. An Oregon Ducks Baseball Team that Scores Runs
Charles Fischer replied to a topic in Our Beloved Ducks
I cannot convey my level of agreement, as they are now fun to watch. Now the new fence distance has changed things, but the opposing teams are going-long more often as well. I am seeing superb improvement and development of the players. Players that had minor roles last year are big-hitters this year, and pitchers that I could not rely on at all in relief have improved tremendously. By the end of this year--this team could really jell and make some noise. I love the long-term with Coach Waz, and we all win as a result.- 1 reply

Women’s Golf Up To No. 2 In National Rankings EUGENE, Ore. – The Oregon women’s golf team added another milestone to its impressive 2021-22 season on Wednesday, moving up to No. 2 in the national Golfstat rankings after winning the Florida State Match Up last weekend in Tallahassee. Oregon is up to No. 2 for the first time after spending the previous two weeks at No. 3, trailing only Pac-12 rival Stanford for the top spot in the nation. Prior to this season, a No. 5 ranking at the end of the 1996-97 campaign is believed to be the highest ranking in program history. The Ducks shot 3 under as a team to win the Florida State Match Up, their second victory of the season after opening the fall with a historic 26-under performance to dominate the Mason Rudolph Championship. Oregon has won three tournaments in the last calendar year after the program went more than five years without a team victory prior to the arrival of head coach Derek Radley and assistant Monica Vaughn. Sophomore Hsin-Yu (Cynthia) Lu won the individual title at the Mason Rudolph Championship and placed second last weekend in Tallahassee. Senior Tze-Han (Heather) Lin has posted a team-high three top-10 finishes already this season while Lu, Briana Chacon and Sofie Kibsgaard Nielsen have each earned two, and Ching-Tzu Chen has one along with an 11th-place finish. Oregon will return to action on Sunday at the Northrop Grumman Challenge in Palos Verdes, Calif., facing a field that features nine other teams in the national top 25. The Ducks will be the highest-ranked team in the field, with No. 5 Wake Forest and No. 6 Virginia also representing the top 10.

Hey Jon--I am guessing, but what I know of recruiting....1) get them in when they want, and if they want now--better than none at all. 2) When you have a big group like this...you can pull all the stops out and have celebrity Oregon former players on hand, for example--really go all-out, vs. what would happen for one recruit visiting. 3) Showing the recruits how the staff actually operates with practices and interacts with current players helps the recruits and the parents. 4) Two of those guys are deciding soon for 2022 still, and if this can seal-the-deal....do it. 5) Many of the 2023 recruits want to decide this spring and summer to get the decision out of the way before football season so they can focus upon their senior season and not the hassle of recruiting. Frankly....this has turned out to be a MUCH bigger weekend for recruiting than most of us thought. See the thread about the Lanning interview and scroll down and see some of my quotes about recruiting from Lanning... Or, I am full-of-it, and am just guessing like everyone else!

Dan Lanning Interview: The Road to Eugene
Charles Fischer replied to Charles Fischer's topic in Our Beloved Ducks
Question from Sportswriter: This is Oregon, and people are saying that the fact it is your first head coaching job and it is at a place like Oregon....puts you at a disadvantage? Dan Lanning answering confidently: "Sit back and watch." About Hiring Assistant Coaches: "I wasn't going to sacrifice having a great coach, and not having a great recruiter. Coaching is great, and its a huge piece of it, (success) but its not the biggest piece..." (Recruiting is!) Whoa! About Recruiting: "Its 365 days a year; recruiting is about consistency, and not just about flash. You want to be (as a coach) at a place that is a 'have,' not a 'have-not,' and Oregon is a 'have." The last five minutes? Whew....gets me excited!
