  1. Cool! JHOP at ScoopDuck just made a prediction of Muhammad to Oregon, with a level of 70% confidence. How accurate is JHOP with his picks? Generally he is right about 85-90% of the time, and he is giving himself wiggle-room by not going with a super-high probability percentage. Not a shoo-in, but the fact that he is still visiting Oregon after visits to Texas and Alabama, and Jabbar did not shut down the Oregon visit to sign with one of the other two schools is great for the Ducks. Dano is the best with visits, thus a decent chance of getting his commitment to Oregon! P.S. I know people have not said "Cool" since the 1970s, but that is what you get with an old-fart.
  2. We'll discuss the NFC final in a thread tomorrow, but I thought I'd start a discussion about the AFC Final between the Ravens and the Chiefs. Who do YOU like, and think will win and why? In the spirit of supporting the underdog...I want this to be Lamar Jackson's game, with all that has been written about him. I like KC, but the drama of their star tight end and a pop star is a bit much, and they've won plenty in recent years. That Baltimore defense is something to behold, but I must admit--I do not watch much NFL at all, especially when Justin Herbert is not playing. Generally, last weekend, this weekend, and the Super Bowl are the only full NFL games (outside of of Herbert) that I'll watch. So for those of you who know these teams--I'd love your thoughts on who will win and why.
  3. Also from the 23rd and on the Texas site... Jabbar Muhammad visiting Oregon Texas leads for the No. 12 ranked prospect in the On3 Transfer Portal Player Rankings is headed to Oregon for a visit following a weekend trip to Alabama. After entering an On3 RPM pick for Muhammad to eventually pick Texas last week, the Ducks are more than making it a fight. Dan Lanning met with the Muhammad family prior to the visit, and the Ducks are all in. All in, and with a plan for Muhammad to come in and be a corner that rarely comes off the field. The cousin of Texas freshmen Malik Muhammad and Billy Walton recorded 46 tackles, 14 passes defended and three interceptions for Washington in 2023. He was named All-Pac 12 Second-Team following the 2023 season. Muhammad recorded 72 tackles and 12 pass break ups in three seasons at Oklahoma State prior to transferring to Washington.
  4. Heartbreaking....just heartbreaking! (I really am a sicko for enjoying this as much as I do...and I'm good with it!)
  5. So Oregon has a tougher schedule than Ohio State, as proven by a terrific prior article by Mr. Joseph. But now we see that Oregon is on the third toughest schedule among the four newcomers to the Big Ten conference? That is one way to welcome the newbies to the Big Ten! Terrific research analysis and conclusions Jon! Charles
  6. See updates at the bottom of this thread... -------------------------------------------------------------- Now I understand the urgency to the recruiting of Muhammad, as Jahlil Florence may not be 100% ready for the season. Rumors of a serious injury... (Starting a new thread about Muhammad)
  7. Below is from a Texas board this morning, (Jan. 22nd) and both they and Alabama refer to Oregon being in it. Nail the visit this next weekend, Dano! ---------------------------------------------------------------------------- Jabbar Muhammad, CB, Washington via Oklahoma State, via DeSoto (Texas) The pursuit of the All-Pac-12 cornerback continues after he wrapped up his visit to Alabama over the weekend. First he stopped in Austin, then Tuscaloosa, and he’ll finish his trips at Oregon this week. Texas has a lot to offer the high-level college product, including family, proximity, and a playing for a strong defense heading into 2024. Alabama might have more with the chance to be a No. 1 corner in Tuscaloosa after the Tide lost Terrion Arnold and Kool-Aid McKinstry. He also familiarity with Kalen DeBoer’s staff from his time at Washington. Oregon is one to watch. They are doing NIL at a high level and also have holes in the secondary that Muhammad could fill easily. Muhammad is looking for one more season to build his draft stock. For some transfer portal prospects, it’s about getting a new start at a new place. For others like Muhammad, it’s finding the best spot where he wouldn’t likely come off the field too much. With Oregon and Alabama, he’d likely start and rarely miss snaps. With Texas, they already have a strong cornerback room with Malik Muhammad and Terrance Brooks. His rep allocation could ultimately decide where Muhammad plays in 2024.
  8. Not YET...Coach Stein will have him rocking the B1G!
  9. Most accurate historically. They are consistently tough in grading for 25 years, while 247 data is corrupted by a former Husky who owned the firm before selling it to 247 Sports. It was routine in those days for Oregon verbals to lose a star, and a Husky verbal to gain a star after announcing. Thus when comparing this class to the past--Rivals allows the best comparisons. But our 2024 class is awesome, and I am not sweating the lack of 5-Stars, since what they do on Rich Brooks field is all that matters. I would be willing to bet that a couple of 4-Star LBs from our latest class will pan out better than this former 5-Star on Rivals. (It is a hit-and-miss business!) 10. I completely agree with you David; recruiting requires a flair for it, a talent that some coaches have more than others. But it also requires a strong NIL program, academic support and as you noted....a ton of hard work. When players who are being recruited make reference to all the conversations they have had with all the staff and Dan Lanning...I wonder if the poor coaches ever get off the phone! What Lanning and his staff, (because hiring coaches who can recruit is also crucial) is so exceptional, and we just gotta soak it up while we can. Lanning's recruiting is going to create this...
  11. True, but for a long time and for the majority of recruits in Washington....Oregon had a hard time attracting them, as the link in David's article to a prior article proves.
  12. Sorry, I do not have the time to link and quote everything he has said. You can search and read it all, or not. Just my opinion...
  13. I don't want UCLA to get a great coach, so I wish he'd stay. (Never thought I'd write that!)
  14. I'd like a 16 team playoff, thus anyone who has a chance to win the 'Natty--will be in it, and there would be room for perhaps two G-5 teams?
  15. My friends, I don't have as much time for this fun these days, but I try to fit it in where I can... (Quotes below from a Washington board) "I'm at six wins, and that Coug game at Lumen link looks very very iffy" "My over/under is currently set at 6.5. trending up. we have 5 very winnable games to start the season." "At least 7. I may still be in denial but I’m not ready to admit that." "We won 14 games last year, and we have about 50% of our team left, so I’ll go with seven wins right now." "I’ll say 7-5." "I'm more concerned about line play. Not too many of those guys in the portal. If we can solidify both lines, then 7 or more. In not, 7 or less." "The team currently: not bowl eligible, with a floor of two wins, and a ceiling of eight wins." "Looking at our schedule, we will more than likely start off 5-0 no matter who our QB is. We are going to end up being in the top half of the league, talentwise, by the start of the season. 9 wins I think is our ceiling." "Right now, 6-6 maybe. But we could get some pretty talented guys from Arizona and then shore the O line up and win 8 or 9 games." "One Win is UW beats Oregon by three points!" Huskies will have the Mother-of-all-Seasons!
