  1. and Oregon is playing the best team in the SEC.....sort of. So when the Duckies win....don't be blowing smoke about bama.
  2. As a USC/Oregon fan......don't fall for it......this is not 2006. Oregon is definitely the superior team. USC is going to have a hard time beating Stanford, UCLA, Oregon St and Utah much less Oregon They are not being rationale.
  3. Most national media copy each others work and seldom come out with a pick that is out of step. Lanning came to Eugene in part because he reviewed the roster and a gleam came to his eye.
  4. This says it all.
  5. Given good coaching the Ducks should be a team that will surprise some folks back east. DL check LB check DB check QB check......maybe OL check RB check WR check TE check
  6. Cash.....pure cash.....and now its all legal. The old days are history.
  7. The difference between Nix and Brown......several things....... but Nix can throw it long accurately.......which should make a world of difference. Changing schemes three times and having a lousy line in front of you, particularly for a player that prefers to throw over run........I suspect we are going to see a player that reflects his rating from HS.
  8. LOL......Mario better win this year or his schtick is going to get easy to see thru.
  9. As a fan of Oregon I was never impressed by Cristobal coaching the team but.........his recruiting was world class
  10. Don't laugh.......12-0. Of course Georgia looks tough.....but.....spend some time matching up the rosters. Its all about Nix and whether new coaching has stepped him up. If so, good things....if not......Oregon will lose this game. Other than the Georgia game.......Oregon has better talent than any other team they play and the tougher games are at home.
  11. noDucknew.........yep.......only addition.......if the valuable properties in the pac 12 started to create a deal with the big 12 it would force him off his butt and probably cement a better deal for Oregon with the big10.
  12. I suspect that the pac 12 refs will be very fair to UCLA and USC this year. LOL. For them......first downs .......10.5 yards........spots......sorta close........all hits look ok to me.......bring on the third USC QB. Now, they would not do this........right........but if the game is close........pass interference don't exist. The playoffs........lots of luck with that. No way USC beats Utah or Oregon at a neutral or worst site.......the refs will be there. Complaints to the conference office.......placed in the round file under the desk.
  13. Unless Oregon, Cal, Stanford, WA, Arizona and AZ St or a minimum of 2 of them follow USC into the big 10.........USC is going to rue the day they decided to be smart pants. The travel distance, weather, competition, refs, locations etc etc are going to wear on them. Especially if they keep ND on their schedule. Imagine the fan support two years from now in November playing in Champaign, Bloomington, Minn, Lincoln, Iowa City Happy Valley etc etc. Something needed to be done......but they made the wrong choice. IMO Oregon needs to force the pac 10 to talk to the Big 12 hat in hand.....and have on the table that Wa ST and Or St go mountain west.
  14. Please post more.....your insights are terrific!
  15. Being in what amounts to a western conference of the ACC would be a big win. The ACC has several big dog football programs and the elite of basketball. If USC can handle the travel so can Oregon and besides.....got to figure a few other pac 12 teams would come along. Really a Power 3 conference just as powerful as the others if Oregon, Stanford, WA and CAL came along. Duke, Florida ST, UNC, Oregon, Stanford and Clemson is a pretty powerful group of schools......and then throw in ND.
  16. Folks, LOL at myself.....my cousin does not run the Big 10.....so everything I post is a wild guess for entertainment.....however I'am glad to read so many polite responses. Oregon fans have a high amount of class and are willing to discuss topics. But......just to be clear As a big 10 grad and having lived in the midwest for a long time (I did live in Oregon for 20 years or so) the Big 10 still has a sort of arrogant attitude toward other conferences regarding academics. It views itself as not quite the Ivy League but a good second choice. They still look down their noses at the SEC for having schools like.....well you know. I'am pretty sure they viewed UCLA and USC as the plums of the PAC 12. So they scooped them up because all the other boxes were checked. Big, rich and large markets and good sports. However if those schools had been Miss St in LA.....I doubt the deal would have been made even with all the cash on the table. IMO money and sports are important but with this group the academics still has a big say in who gets in. Its like a country club of old money that is looking at Bill Gates and says, Oh.....I understand his dad worked for a living.....does he really fit with us.
  17. Sorry......but if ND agrees it will probably not be Oregon. Cal, Stanford or Washington all fit better if my guess is correct. They all have more powerful academics. larger schools, very large markets and don't present a situation in the NIL era in which a rich person who is extremely supportive can outbid the rest of the league for talent. Even USC or UCLA, now members of the Big 10 might veto Oregon membership. They want the southern Cal recruiting for themselves. Weakening Oregon only helps them. Having Oregon in an expanded Big 12 does that. Playing Stanford and Cal is an easier and closer road game for the LA teams. Neither recruits well in CA. As a USC fan I don't see what USC did positively in the long term. The travel is going to kill them.......but.........they sure screwed the rest of the conference......particularly, Washington, Oregon, Cal and Stanford. The other pac 12 members really never belonged in a power 5 or can make a good fit with the Big 12 easily. IMO Oregon is going to have to make lemonade out of lemons and join the Big 12......if they can......and since most of the markets in an expanded BIG 12 are growing much faster than the midwest.....might end up just fine.
  18. Could be.....sometimes a player is an improved player when surrounded by different players. This is particularly true of QB's.
  19. Steele is more realistic than other sites. Utah and Oregon have the beef! IMO some of the others are going to learn what not having the beef means.
  20. Thanks.....this was great!
  21. This is a great site being run top notch. So many good sites get ruined by folks with political nonsense.
