  1. Both state teams were just lucky the pac carried them all those years. When you are mountain west and get to play with the big guys you should understand your role and be appreciative. Instead both programs demanded revenue equality with USC, Oregon, UCLA, Washington, Arizona and will end up where they belong. Should have allowed the big boys their due amount.
  2. Never gonna happen......Phil Knight just calls the governor and says......I've been thinking of moving my HQ to Texas.
  3. Frankly, whoever created the USC schedule for 24 needs his head examined. LSU, ND, Michigan, Iowa, Wisconsin, Penn St, UCLA and an Illinois team that has improved significantly. USC fans might get some luck now that Oregon is in since the schedule needs to be redrawn. If Riley does not get a clue from Lanning and recruit some big folks on the lines........without Williams at QB.......it's going to be a long year on Vermont St. I wonder how Oregon's schedule will look for 24 and when it will be issued. Maybe they can cancel that long trip to Hawaii but I doubt it. Texas Tech and Boise St seems a bit much considering the new conference nasties. Idaho looks good. At least Tech and Boise are in Eugene. One good thing.....even a 10-2 result should put Oregon in the expanded playoffs.....and now that the pac is history I'am wondering if even a 9-3 might do it with that tough schedule.
  4. I'am just having fun. Love to stick it to Helton every chance I get. Oregon has had some lousy coaches also but nothing that compares to the ice cream king. He used to have an ice cream truck show up during practice so the kids could get soft serve......and become even softer. On the USC boards it was all bout what flavor they might be today. Riley has returned discipline to the team. Anyway.....I enjoy this site and love the fact that USC and Oregon are going to have some great matchups. Since I live in Indy, I look forward to attending some games close by and supporting both teams against these sometimes over rated mid west teams......especially on a brisk fall Saturday. As for basketball I suspect Oregon is going to love the day they came into the league. The big 10 gets blown out of the NCAA's every year consistently. Maybe with USC, UCLA and Oregon in there a chance exists for a respectable showing. As you know the championship is in Indy. As for the record, USC is not the old USC. The wine and cheese crowd has changed the school somewhat and a lot of the foreign student body hardly even knows what football is. Riley is a good coach but he does not seem to understand that defense is important also. The defensive coaching staff is weak. They stuck with Helton even after most of the fan base was screaming at them to fire the fool because its just not run like it used to be. We'll see if Riley hangs around once he has to play those lines in the Midwest. Oregon ought to be just fine because as most of you know it's all about the lines and the coaching staff seems to understand that.....I was watching to see if Lanning was going to continue with the great offensive lines that Christo started and to date he has......and this year brought in some terrific defensive line help. As for the Ruins.....no idea what they are doing aside from the fact that they now have an outstanding coach. He is not much of a recruiter but he sure can coach them up. One lousy coach after another had destroyed their student interest and the team itself was a total mess when Kelly came in. No discipline what so ever. Kelly has cured that and they now are in the position Oregon was before the 4/5 star kids started coming to Oregon. Anyway....thanks for the comments. Hopefully I will not get on anybodies bad side. Don't have any hidden agenda other than I want the kids to play hard and enjoy their time with their team mates.
  5. LOL....as a fan of both schools......and only because I like to be reasonable.......without defending the USC big heads USC was going thru severe sanctions 2010-12......and those sanctions had a carry on affect for a minimum of 3 years.....and actually contributed to USC retaining the worst coach I have ever watched in action, bar none, in over 60 years of football.....pro, college and high school..... The infamous Helton......which is impossible to explain other than to vomit and creep away. After USC he has taken Georgia Southern to 6-7 last year......this year he has not encountered a loss yet but he has yet to coach a game.
  6. Years ago it would have been a no brainer because the two schools are undeniably two of the premier academic schools in the US. They bring the Bay Area and Stanford has a national audience. The BIG used to be rather stiff shirt about such things. Today.....I personally think it's still a no brainer but....the cash drives most everything and I'am not sure those old guys in the midwest are ready to make another major move. Hopefully they will see the light and go ahead and invite them.
  7. The Big Ten championship for football is at Lucas Oil Stadium in Indy and will probably stay there. It seats 70,000 comfortably with great amenities. It's a great facility in a really nice mid size city. Of course since I live here I'am biased.
  8. Oregon is as responsible as the person who goes to bed bath and beyond and buys the items at the store closing sale. The numbers facing the pac were not going to work keeping them a power 5.
  9. There is something to say for the feeling the team gets when every seat Is filled. Some of those stadiums ( I've been in most) are caverns when a game is played.
  10. OK, confession time. I live in Indy so...... Its two hours to Champaign Il, 45 minutes to Bloomington IN, 2 hours to Columbus OH, 3 hours to Northwestern, one hour to Purdue, 2 hours to ND, 3 hours to Michigan and Mich St........and now the Ducks will be visiting at least one or two of these sites every year. USC the same. I miss the west coast where I lived near Portland for a long time but I'll have some solace at seeing and rooting for the team on a late Saturday afternoon. Go Ducks.......
  11. Good news for the Decks and Dawgs. Now they can concentrate on football. Recruiting is going to explode. Son, you can get out of the winter, play Michigan,USC, Ohio St, Penn St etc, have great facilities, you'll be on all the best channels, great coaching and mom and dad can come to a several games every year without much travel..... It was inevitable. Can't wait to watch all the great games on a network everybody watches.
  12. Negotiations are never fun........but the Ducks are right where they should be......bet Knight is guiding them.....and who is better than him. The BIG needs to stop being cheap and understand they need Seattle, Portland and the Bay Area.
  13. Arizona meeting was scheduled for 6 pst so a leak will probably emerge in a few hours.
  14. He is all wet......Oregon needs to do what is best for Oregon......whatever that is. USC left, UCLA left, Colorado left.......so now it's Oregons job to keep a conference together that failed to retain 3 other members. Blame Larry Scott and the presidents that supported him
  15. Nothing personal......this is business. Everybody does what is best for themselves. Only a child expects different. Especially at places in the SEC. At least it's legal now with NIL. LOL.
  16. So far....all rumors.....but......Oregon is looking good. We'll see what Arizona has to say tomorrow. I don't see the Apple deal as being attractive unless there is more to come. Arizona probably knows what to expect. Either way......it looks like Oregon is going to land in a good spot. Again, if Oregon goes BIG I hope they bring Stanford, Cal and Wash. That allows 3 ooc at home or near including Or St, 5 against the old pac teams, and two trips to the east with a bye or two cushioning the travel. Not bad at all.
  17. Forget San Diego....that bus has passed.....their exit fee is now big bucks for them. Thank George for screwing up, However SMU and Rice would be interesting. Houston and Dallas. Rice is outstanding as an academic. Big stadium. Travel partners.
  18. Just read this stat on another site......since 2007.....national championships in Football, Basketball, Baseball and Softball. SEC.....31 including 9 teams.........Big 10...... 1, Ohio State. Stunning
  19. If I were San Diego I'd stay put.......until the whole thing stabilizes. They would look silly to join the pac 9 and then be told Arizona, Utah and Az St are leaving. Aside from that, I'd resign. He is in way over his head. He won't. It's obvious that a media deal is a fantasy. When the pac lost LA.....the ship struck the ice. Colorado is a rat. The streaming services know exactly what they are doing. Behind the scenes they are the ones deciding where everybody ends up. If they want Oregon in the big 10, no university president or commissioner is going to stop it. This is a pure business decision. Just a few years ago the NCAA believed in amateur sports......then transfers and nil came and money determines if you can hire the QB you need. Cash everybody is also chasing in the realignment for facilities, staff and admin. Sad, but I liked buggy whips also. An era has ended in college sports.
  20. IMO the pac 12 made a fatal error when it arrogantly sat while others were obviously recruiting. Now it is trying to equate jewels with costume jewelry. George is as incompetent as Larry. What the president of Arizona stated in the article is telling......if the pac 12 media deal is not competitive......he'll be shopping. So from my viewpoint....Arizona is gone......if there was going to be a great media deal it would have been discussed prior to Colorado leaving.......and.......without Phoenix,,,,,,the pac 12 is history. Oregon has built a great brand.......I'd tell the big 10 to ante up and look long term or take a hike. A discussion between Oregon and the ACC or Big 12 would be a very good negotiating tact. Especially if Wash, Stanford and Cal are with Oregon. The big 10 will see the light......and if USC and UCLA have any sense they will also. Of course that is to be determined. Somebody with a brain is going to want Oregon and its sisters on the coast. Hopefully the state of Oregon does not get involved and force Oregon to drag its poor brother, Oregon St to the party. Once Arizona decides the entire mess is going to get clarified and Oregon can choose from the suitors. Obviously, pac 12 admin will try to attract a 10th program in order to survive but after a season of ratings which I suspect will be less than competitive.....the die will be cast.
