  1. The attendance I'am interested in is the 52 to 14 funeral for Colorado when they visit. I admire coach Prime but I want Oregon to shine.
  2. Smith at Oregon St would make a lot of sense. After building a power at Or St he will be playing in the mw. He also deserves the kind of $$$$ or st cannot afford.
  3. Don't remember the exact numbers but going for it near the 25 on 4th down when you could take the lead with a field goal and have 10 minutes left on the road in a dog fight...... Lanning needs to stop making these stupid choices if he wants to be top notch. Hopefully he'll learn to think with his head and not his heart. Some of the mental errors are understandable considering they were on their first road game against a tough team with a lot of new starters some of which. were transfers. However, This team looked poorly coached. Penalty after penalty disrupting drives. Sideline warnings. Dumb actions on defense. Nix played well. They did execute some great individual plays. Thankfully, Tyler S is a turnover machine.....some forced. Some not. One big positive......this is the type of game previous Duck coaches would have lost. I liked the energy in the first quarter in the heat and that may have contributed to some of the mental errors later on. It's hard to simulate heat radiating off that surface with that wild crowd in practice. Texas Tech.....even losing to Wyoming is a quality team. Overall.....a win is a win. Move on.
  4. Just another day......no excuses......blow them off the field.
  5. If boneheaded pac 12 admin had hired the coaches that exist now three years earlier......the pac 12 might now be called the pac 18......with a TV contract meeting or exceeding the BIG contract. It would have changed quite a lot.
  6. Unfortunately pure capitalism in college sports is not going to work. Not long before we will have to subscribe to Apple, Amazon, Peacock, Paramount plus, Sling, Youtube etc just to watch most games. There will be a point where most fans who are not multi 7 figures rich, decide that this is not worth a really nice dinner out once a week at an upscale restaurant. Going back to the 50's when you watched your favorite team and that is about it. Sports betting might suffer.
  7. Countryprof......No issue. I'am on a Ducks site because I love the Ducks. Used to live in Portland for just about 2 decades. I also follow USC because one son graduated and was lucky to attend during the peak of the Carroll years. I'am a graduate of Illinois and they are just starting to cook. Since I'am on a Ducks site if anybody wants to crap on USC......I'd be silly to be offended. It is the U of spoiled children.....and can I tell you this description is accurate. Above all......I'am a football fan and realistic with all my teams.....so.....those that think USC will get to the playoffs and have a chance at the NC......when pigs fly. They just do not have the talent or coaching.
  8. Actually the dumpster fire is their OL. Every single position has a lesser talent than last years line which was below average. Any other QB would be getting sacked 4-5 times per game. Williams is outstanding.
  9. Don't give it a second......USC is so overrated that they will not make a major bowl. Hopefully if they win it all most of you will forget this post. No backups on the defensive line and the entire line a bunch of transfers with very little starting experience or excellence. Why would a guy who was playing at Georgia, ranked number 1, and supposedly going to start transfer to USC. The cash answer is stupid because if he was good and looking at the NFL that is the cash. One injury and a 270 pound defensive tackle comes in. Slow linebackers or folks that weigh 215 pounds. I saw their starting linebacker trail a TE by 3 steps last year. An overrated safety that avoids contact. Two players that transferred from Arizona, one of the worst defenses I ever saw last year, that are starting. A corner coach that is not very good. A defensive coordinator that is not very good. One of their primary backups in the DB is 5" 9" and really 5' 8". How does he cover a TE coming over the middle? As far the offense.....a guard that played for Wyoming without awards, a left tackle that was the right tackle last year and a little slow....because the transfer from Florida, that was supposed to solve it all and start at left barely beat out a backup at right tackle instead......and that backup got pancaked several times last year against Utah and Tulane. The runners are OK but without Travis Dye, he was a step better than anything they have now. Their receivers are OK but a lot of transfers that did not show greatness where they were....and don't block very well. and......a great QB....that got very lucky most of last year avoiding hits but when he got hit was injured. Sorry....this could get ugly quick.....for the 6th ranked team. I've said it.......going for a drink.
  10. The Ducks need this season to be great for a lot of reasons. If they go 9-3 or 10-2 IMO that is not good enough. They need to go 11-1 or better and make the playoffs......and enter the BIG as a team that everybody fears. I am not expecting them to win the nc.....that would be welcome but premature. Pass thru the portal of a team that has better than average talent and wins a few surprise games and loses some surprise games. To.... A team that wins against the teams its supposed to beat handily and wins 66% or more against the top teams that represent a challenge. Show toughness with no letup. No losses to Az St type teams. As many have stated, next year it's an inexperienced QB with perhaps lesser expectations. IMO this is about Lanning. This is his chance to do something special at Oregon in the long term. If he fumbles this year it might be tough to take the next step. This is the moment......is this team perfect.....no......you only get those types of teams when you have the machine running full speed. Teams like Pete C and Saban built are only after the recruiting kicks into 7th gear. When a coach is deciding who he wants, not who he can get. This is about motivation, game planning, coaching, etc with a roster that is better than most but still needs a few parts. Everybody else that is good is in the same place except for the top 3 or 4.
  11. If the defense had the better of it this late, with the talent on the offense........that is really good news for Ducks.
  12. Both state teams were just lucky the pac carried them all those years. When you are mountain west and get to play with the big guys you should understand your role and be appreciative. Instead both programs demanded revenue equality with USC, Oregon, UCLA, Washington, Arizona and will end up where they belong. Should have allowed the big boys their due amount.
  13. Well.....right now I can get all the movies I want streaming.......all the original better than linear programming streaming........ what I cannot get is all the sports I want......unless I don't get it......which in this modern world happens more and more to me. When sports totally converts to streaming......the cable companies will be going the way of an old video store for tapes......because what else do they offer worth paying hundreds for.....until that day......it goes on......which explains why, NBC, CBS etc will fight with outrageous bids for sports.
  14. Never gonna happen......Phil Knight just calls the governor and says......I've been thinking of moving my HQ to Texas.
  15. Frankly, whoever created the USC schedule for 24 needs his head examined. LSU, ND, Michigan, Iowa, Wisconsin, Penn St, UCLA and an Illinois team that has improved significantly. USC fans might get some luck now that Oregon is in since the schedule needs to be redrawn. If Riley does not get a clue from Lanning and recruit some big folks on the lines........without Williams at QB.......it's going to be a long year on Vermont St. I wonder how Oregon's schedule will look for 24 and when it will be issued. Maybe they can cancel that long trip to Hawaii but I doubt it. Texas Tech and Boise St seems a bit much considering the new conference nasties. Idaho looks good. At least Tech and Boise are in Eugene. One good thing.....even a 10-2 result should put Oregon in the expanded playoffs.....and now that the pac is history I'am wondering if even a 9-3 might do it with that tough schedule.
  16. I'am just having fun. Love to stick it to Helton every chance I get. Oregon has had some lousy coaches also but nothing that compares to the ice cream king. He used to have an ice cream truck show up during practice so the kids could get soft serve......and become even softer. On the USC boards it was all bout what flavor they might be today. Riley has returned discipline to the team. Anyway.....I enjoy this site and love the fact that USC and Oregon are going to have some great matchups. Since I live in Indy, I look forward to attending some games close by and supporting both teams against these sometimes over rated mid west teams......especially on a brisk fall Saturday. As for basketball I suspect Oregon is going to love the day they came into the league. The big 10 gets blown out of the NCAA's every year consistently. Maybe with USC, UCLA and Oregon in there a chance exists for a respectable showing. As you know the championship is in Indy. As for the record, USC is not the old USC. The wine and cheese crowd has changed the school somewhat and a lot of the foreign student body hardly even knows what football is. Riley is a good coach but he does not seem to understand that defense is important also. The defensive coaching staff is weak. They stuck with Helton even after most of the fan base was screaming at them to fire the fool because its just not run like it used to be. We'll see if Riley hangs around once he has to play those lines in the Midwest. Oregon ought to be just fine because as most of you know it's all about the lines and the coaching staff seems to understand that.....I was watching to see if Lanning was going to continue with the great offensive lines that Christo started and to date he has......and this year brought in some terrific defensive line help. As for the Ruins.....no idea what they are doing aside from the fact that they now have an outstanding coach. He is not much of a recruiter but he sure can coach them up. One lousy coach after another had destroyed their student interest and the team itself was a total mess when Kelly came in. No discipline what so ever. Kelly has cured that and they now are in the position Oregon was before the 4/5 star kids started coming to Oregon. Anyway....thanks for the comments. Hopefully I will not get on anybodies bad side. Don't have any hidden agenda other than I want the kids to play hard and enjoy their time with their team mates.
  17. LOL....as a fan of both schools......and only because I like to be reasonable.......without defending the USC big heads USC was going thru severe sanctions 2010-12......and those sanctions had a carry on affect for a minimum of 3 years.....and actually contributed to USC retaining the worst coach I have ever watched in action, bar none, in over 60 years of football.....pro, college and high school..... The infamous Helton......which is impossible to explain other than to vomit and creep away. After USC he has taken Georgia Southern to 6-7 last year......this year he has not encountered a loss yet but he has yet to coach a game.
  18. Years ago it would have been a no brainer because the two schools are undeniably two of the premier academic schools in the US. They bring the Bay Area and Stanford has a national audience. The BIG used to be rather stiff shirt about such things. Today.....I personally think it's still a no brainer but....the cash drives most everything and I'am not sure those old guys in the midwest are ready to make another major move. Hopefully they will see the light and go ahead and invite them.
  19. The Big Ten championship for football is at Lucas Oil Stadium in Indy and will probably stay there. It seats 70,000 comfortably with great amenities. It's a great facility in a really nice mid size city. Of course since I live here I'am biased.
  20. Oregon is as responsible as the person who goes to bed bath and beyond and buys the items at the store closing sale. The numbers facing the pac were not going to work keeping them a power 5.
  21. There is something to say for the feeling the team gets when every seat Is filled. Some of those stadiums ( I've been in most) are caverns when a game is played.
