  1. Win or lose this site offers a ton of entertainment to an old man. Thanks to all posters.
  2. This year the only poll that matters is the final poll.
  3. IMO Oregon would have won them all......because Dillon plays to his competition.......and he has talent not many in the SEC have.......the 7th gear. Combined with the line and receivers, RB's.......and our DE's.......some games might have been close but all wins. In the playoffs, playing so many quality teams in a row.....anything can happen......but.......I would not bet against them.
  4. Who wants to play for an offensive genius that is a moron. He just got the program put on probation for a year..... The recruiting class is going to fall apart.....and it was not great to begin with.
  5. No.......the powers want to retain him.
  6. It will be in the 50's for the game......hardly a test.
  7. The only change that will help USC is changing the head coach. He is a complete overpaid failed hire. Another dud brought on by the lofty pretentious overpaid USC admin staff that can't seem to figure out whether a guy can coach.
  8. USC hired a head coach that does not like people.......does that sound like someone who can recruit successfully. or can build a good program. From the Duck's point of view, hopefully it will take the boneheads at least two more years to figure it out. While they blame it on cash, the portal. tactics....etc.
  9. No worries........winners win.......and Oregon will win again.......Georgia is the team to beat. Aside from that play them one at a time.
  10. USC will suck for years to come.
  11. 70 million left after this year.....its going to be a while.
  12. USC will be no threat to Oregon or other elite teams for many years to come. I suspect Riley will be at USC for a minimum of 2 more years due to admin politics and then the need to upgrade players takes a minimum of 2 years when the barn is nearly empty. The real issue at USC is not directly about the team, it's about athletic directors that are incompetent.
  13. I suspect that due to the ability of players to quit mid season and transfer at will that teams that can recruit 5 star talent will literally fire lesser talent to make room. In the past this was done rarely because teams wanted to foster loyalty. With the new era, loyalty may be a relic. It's perform or else.
  14. He has left the team. An airhead.
  15. Boise will probably make the playoffs if the Ducks make it. Their only loss being the Ducks. That was no cupcake.
  16. Oregon is ranked about right and most folks know it......its entire season revolves around the Ohio State and Michigan games, assuming they beat everybody else. Win those two games and the ranking will be top 3. Lose both and top 20. Win one and lose the other......top 10. Everything else is noise. As far as USC......LSU did what Kelly always does....lose the opener. He is an OK coach but not elite. The game plan was bad. They did not throw it long against a questionable USC backfield. Just about every pass was short to intermediate and to the sidelines with little chance for yards after the catch. In their hope to control the ball they crushed any big play opportunities. His QB has demonstrated he has an above average arm and they have good receivers, with two NFL tackles. More worried about interceptions than winning the game. So considering this win......USC belongs in the top 20 not the top 10. I suspect they may end up with a good season....but they don't play Oregon, Ohio St or Iowa.....and Penn St is at home. The only other tests are Notre Dame at home and a Michigan team that has a QB problem.
  17. USC will learn all about its defense when it plays LSU in their first game. LSU has one of the best offenses in football this year. I suspect LSU will hang 40 plus on them.
  18. I'm no expert but over the decades I've learned that if you are 6.1 on Rivals......you are going to be considered 5 star most everywhere else whereas if you are a 5 star elsewhere.....Rivals may have you rated a 5.9 or 6.0. I always go to Rivals first. Having stated that.....IMO the best way to determine what you have with a recruit is to look at the offer sheet......for example......if a 5 star is offered by USC and Ohio St but ND, Michigan, Bama, Oregon and Georgia are no go......I'd be wondering. Some kids want to stay regionally or play in a certain conference but most 5 stars are focused on opportunity....if they are not.....who wants them. The ones totally focused on cash.....forget them. If a recruit is on everybody's offer sheet he is usually a 5 star or should be.
  19. So coaches are so much different......or just about anyone else......it's just that the nonsense of the NCAA has ended.
  20. Hilarious.......can't wait to see the first games.
  21. Oregon buying recruits.......you mean like Bama and USC used to do illegally. No. The rules have changed and Oregon NIL has the right to pay recruits. Just like all programs. Of course if the coaches making these charges come from areas like LA, Chicago, NY, SF, Dallas, Austin etc., areas that have tons of cash, are unable to raise or manage cash....who is to blame. By the way......Ohio St, that exists in a cow town Columbus in Ohio gets just about anyone they stare at.......why.......because the truth is cash is important but......facilities, coaching staff quality, weather, development history, academics, area around the university, team quality, mom and dad location, TV exposure and head coach experience, record, personality etc etc etc have a role. Lanning is a great coach.......others are not. Some coaches do not have the management ability, leadership, personality, work ethic and motivation of a Lanning.......don't blame Oregon. Teams in California and the SEC operate in areas loaded with talent......Oregon is not......should Oregon whine and cry about that or get to work. Oregon was competitive long before NIL. They played in a national championship game back in 2010.....long before NIL.
  22. Jon, As a Ducks fan......your last statement makes me sad. As a USC fan.........your last statement makes me happy. As a football fan........I'am disgusted these coaching pretenders get millions for knowing very little while the kids for years received a free education, so, even tho the system seems like a mess, for now, kids have at it.
  23. Justus Terry is also gone. In plain language.......Lincoln Riley can't recruit for sh--. As for its only due to Knight......USC is loaded with Billionaires on their boards that are willing to throw tons of cash around. Riley is just a dud. The latest preseason college ratings are out.....nice to be in a conference with 6 teams in the top 25 and 3 in the top 10. 4 in the top 15.
