ESPN SP+ Ranks the Oregon Ducks Second in Big-10
Thanks, Oregon Reigns for the article. SP+ 2024 preseason SEC rankings. Unsurprisingly, the SEC is deeper and higher rated top to bottom than the B1G. Makes sense based on the SEC's recruiting and portal-picking rankings. Oklahoma comes in 8th in the SEC and 15 nationally. How would you like to play this cruel and unusual schedule: Dallas: Red River Rivalry vs Texas. Home Games: Tennessee and Alabama. Road Games: Auburn; Ole Miss; Missouri; and LSU. And do the same in 2025 with only the Home and Road venues changing. Texas A&M Football ranked in the Top 15 according to ESPN’s SP+ AGGIESWIRE.USATODAY.COM Texas A&M’s offseason success has led to rising in the newest ESPN SP+ rankings

A $2.75 Billion Dollar Settlement Will Not Bring Down the College Sports House
Stewart Mandel is one of the best and most impactful college sports journalists. As Stewart so advises, every college sports fan needs to take a deep breath. The House settlement will not incent college sports fans to tune out. In 2021 when the NCAA, at the point of a gun, allowed college athletes to market their Name, Image, and Likeness, viewership of college sports did not drop off. Instead, viewership of money-making football and basketball increased as did viewership of Women's sports. College athletes earning their market value did not destroy fan interest. Mandel: What college sports' pay-for-play era will mean — and won't mean WWW.NYTIMES.COM A day few in college sports would have deemed imaginable even three years ago, much less 30, has (almost) arrived. But we'll keep watching. This article has been posted on another thread but in light of the changes coming from the House settlement, this NY Times article IMO deserves a thread of its own. Puddles will continue to fly high. The viewership after the B1G move will be B1Gger than before.

Fox Announces 2024 Friday Night CFB Broadcasts
SP+ has Oregon ranked No. 3, 2nd in the B1G behind No. 2 Ohio State. Purdue is ranked 72nd, and 15th in the B1G. As Charles notes above, Michigan State on Friday before the Ohio State game and Purdue on a short week is a good trade-off. Friday night games on Fox, CBS, and NBC are likely to draw B1G viewing audiences. The B1G Friday night games will likely open the coverage on Fox's Big Noon preview show and also be covered by ESPN's College Gameday.

NCAA Close to Settling House Litigation for $2.8 Billion - GULP!
Lots of details are still to be worked out regarding Title IX, the effect on G5 athletic departments that gross $40M or less every season, roster reductions for football, the hit to nonrevenue sports, will athletes receiving payments be 'employees,' if the athletes are employees will a union be formed to resolve such matters as unrestricted transfers and what will college sports 'management consist of, and whether Congress will provide relief from future antitrust and other litigation. Hats off to the Power 2 conferences and NCAA president Charlie Baker, for leading the way toward the settlement of House and two other attendant antitrust suits that could have bankrupted the NCAA.

Wow. I Guess it's True. "Butt" this Opinion is Like They Say, Everyone has One . . .
What, pray tell, does Molly do for a living? However she makes her money, I wonder how many future bets she has made on these off-the-ceiling picks? My guess? Nada. Think Molly will be back on December 3. 2024 to publically account for these picks? Have you ever seen Mel Kiper give himself a grade for his mock draft compared to how the draft came down? But Mel is quick to assign draft grades to the folks doing the picking. Often wrong but never in doubt. But THIS 'stuff' gets clicks. Thanks, Steven A. for the perfect headline for this post. Good Golly, Miss Molly has a broken crystal ball.

Fox Announces 2024 Friday Night CFB Broadcasts
If you want the money you have to pay the dues. It was understood by all 4 Pac newbies that the Left Coast was likely to be saddled with several+ Friday night games and late kickoffs on Saturday. For example, the Rutgers at SC game kicks off at 11 PM Eastern. Cannot alter geography. This is true of the NFL as well as college football. However, no matter when the games are played they will be watched and reported pre and post-game by a viable conference network, Fox, CBS, and NBC. Michigan State is a 'look ahead' beware game and at Purdue is a trap game. Perhaps purposely balanced out to give Oregon a leg up in one case, and the opposite in the other case. It could be far worse, Oregon could be playing B12 conference games on Friday nights and being covered as a 'minor league' team behind the SEC on ESPN and behind the B1G on Fox. I do understand and share your pain. But cheer up, living on the Right Coast means that many the sporting event starts far too late.

Fox Announces 2024 Friday Night CFB Broadcasts

Fox expanding Friday Night college football offerings WWW.SPORTSBUSINESSJOURNAL.COM Fox is set to announce a season-long slate of Friday night games dubbed “Fox College Football Friday” that includes nine Big Ten matchups and a pair of Big 12 games. The game vs Michigan State scheduled to be played on Saturday 10/5 will instead be broadcast on Friday 10/4 at 6 PM Pacific. This will give Oregon one more day of rest before Ohio State visits Autzen. The game scheduled for 10/19 at Pudue will be played on Friday 10/18 at 5 PM Pacific instead. This means a short week for Oregon the week after the Ohio State game and Oregon's first visit to the Eastern time zone. Additional Oregon games will likely be broadcast on CBS and NBC/Peacock on Friday night.

College Football News Ranks the B1G's Football Coaches
10 Coaches on the hottest seats. Ironic that the B1G's No. 1 Ryan Day is No. 10 on this list. What have you done for me lately? https://collegefootballnews.com/news/10-college-football-coaches-on-the-hot-seat-whos-under-the-most-pressure-2024 Jaden Rashada, now with Georgia I think, and his attorneys, agree with No. 1 on this list. College Football News Ranks the B1G's Football Coaches
Here's the ranking of our 'buddies' in the SEC. With Saint Nick heading off to golf course greener pastures, Kirby Smart is well deserving of his No. 1 ranking. On the other hand, the Portal King at No. 3? https://collegefootballnews.com/news/sec-college-football-head-coach-rankings-preview-2024

College Football News Ranks the B1G's Football Coaches
Danno ranked third is a tribute to his program building to date and Oregon's potential, not on conference titles won, playoff appearances, and longevity. If he pays any attention to this stuff, I doubt Iowa HC Kirk Ferentz is happy about being ranked 7th, especially after firing his son as OC after the lad's offense turned the Hawkeyes punter into a 4th round draft pick. https://collegefootballnews.com/news/big-ten-college-football-head-coach-rankings-preview-2024 Dan Lanning will have the chance to start moving on up in the B1G and in the nation this season. With Harbaugh Charging off to LA, I understand and support Ryan Day being numero uno. But another coach in LA coming in second is based upon Lincoln Riley's past as much or more than the USC's program's future. Like Dan, Riley has yet to win a conference title since he left Norman for Traveler. Riley does not have the roster advantage he had in the B12 where a litany of Texas coaches did not recruit at a conference-title level. Vanquish the Vandals!
