  1. More Fodder for Four Being the B1G/SEC PO Floor. It's Easy as ACC. The stat that shows just how horrendous the ACC has been in the 2020s - Saturday Down South WWW.SATURDAYDOWNSOUTH.COM The ACC has endured a historically dreadful start to the 2020s decade, but can that turn around in the latter half?
  2. Holy Heisman! Mahki, not Dante, Kenyon, or a WR? Top Heisman contender for every team in CBS Sports post-spring top 25 ahead of 2025 college football season - CBSSports.com WWW.CBSSPORTS.COM With the top 10 2024 Heisman vote-getters off the the NFL, the door is wide open for a new crop of stars in college football
  3. Ready for 4-4-2-2-1-3? This is what the College Football (CFB) Playoff (PO) format could be beginning in 2026-27. A field with 4 B1G, 4 SEC, 2 ACC, 2 B12, 1 G6, and three, not one, at-large teams, with one of the three most likely to be Notre Dame year after year. As noted in the attached article, the Power 2 are driving the PO bus. Three at-large teams seem to me to be a bone being thrown to the ACC, B12, and the G6. In theory, the Lesser 2 and the G6 would have a shot at placing another team or two in the PO field. In reality, and looking back at the final rankings before seeding the BCS, 4-team, and 12-team PO, the B1G or the SEC are more likely to take the additional spots. It also appears that play-in games could replace a two-team conference championship game. As to a 16-team playoff field destroying the regular season and the playoffs? We heard the same warning before the BCS and the PO field expanded. In 2024, CFB attendance and viewership both increased. If the field expands to 16 teams, what has to happen is for the regular season to end at least two weeks earlier than it does today, so Ohio State vs. Notre Dame, for example, is not competing against NFL postseason games late into January, and drawing fewer than the expected number of viewers. Dropping conference-champ games in favor of a flex-scheduled last regular-season game week is a step in the right direction. SEC, Big Ten reportedly in favor of another major change to College Football Playoff WWW.YARDBARKER.COM The Big Ten and SEC want more pieces of the pie. I do not see this proposal equating to the B1G and the SEC wanting more pieces of the pie, but as noted above, a move toward 'fairness' by giving schools outside of the Power 2, two (in theory three) more chances to make the PO. I see the proposed change to the format as allowing the ACC and B12 commissioners to save face, and to quell the bogus 'Little Guy' objections.
  4. More College Football Parity Coming? Maybe in Ws and Ls. But the Quality Competition Resides in the Power 2. Season of major parity for college football in 2025? Deep contender field looks to break glass ceiling - CBSSports.com WWW.CBSSPORTS.COM Only four programs have ranked as preseason No. 1 since 2015. That could change in 2025 as the contending class expands A Crimson Tide lifted all boats in the SEC. Clemson's Natties did turn ACC teams into Tigers.
  5. Bet the House the settlement will be approved, but CFB is still waiting on Judge Wilken. NCAA settlement update leaves Ohio State fans even more confused than before SCARLETANDGAME.COM Are we ever going to get a final decision on the massive NCAA settlement that's going to change college sports as we know it? The hope was that things would tak
  6. It Just Means More is $88 million behind the B1G. So, $80 million more to play nine conference games makes sense and again shows the SEC commish Sankey, is great at playing the long game. ESPN is begging the SEC to make a massive change to the football schedule SATURDAYBLITZ.COM It feels like we've been circling the same question for years now—when is the SEC finally going to pull the trigger on a 9-game conference schedule? If you've Back-to-back in-conference schedules that have the SEC's top teams, sans Texas, beating one another up, and in 2024-25, only sending three teams to the CFB PO, makes more sense if ESecPN comes up with another $80 million. 🤑
  7. If the House settlement is approved, all NIL deals over $600 (🤪) will be reviewed and revealed. Until this happens, it's reporting rumor; a WAG. 🤑
  8. The author of this piece does a good job of summarizing chaotic issues in the college sports world, especially in college football, and I would add, Men's college basketball. However, Nick Saban and friends are well aware of the issues that need to be addressed, but without help from Congress, the newly formed committee, including former Alabama coach Nick Saban, will be shoveling sand against the tide (Tide?) The NCAA, with over 1100 members, is too unwieldy to properly address the issues that plague the big-time moneyball sports. The NCAA's win-loss record in court has the NCAA playing alone in Division IV. The solutions are clear, and without the solutions being put in place, we will see an NFL-Lite CFB Super Conference and likely an NBA-Lite Super Conference. 3 bold moves Nick Saban must make if he wants to save college football SATURDAYBLITZ.COM Nick Saban may be done coaching, but he’s not done fighting for the future of college football. Fresh off his retirement, the legendary Alabama coach is expecte (The article's author identified three 'Rich Programs.' Which of the three is located in a state that does not pump oil? 😁) Nick is the CFB Coaching GOAT, but no individual could have patched the hole in the Titanic. There is no one more qualified to save college football than Nick Saban SATURDAYBLITZ.COM Nick Saban has been called a lot of things over the years, but he now has another title that might just be his most important yet: college football’s last great I prefer the Power 2 to a Super Conference with a few teams relegated and added on, and more games between the B1G and the SEC. But for this to happen, Congress has to act. Nick has a lot of influence, but fixing college football and college sports in general is a BIGGER ASK than winning a Natty.
  9. Hats Off to Kiara Romero. I certainly do not know from experience, merely from watching 'real' golfers, but after a record 62 on opening day, to shoot 68 the following day is golfing your ball. A Natty would be so sweet. Finishing in the top 4 gets you a game at Augusta National the week before the 2026 Masters, which is nice. 🏌️‍♀️

Fan sues NFL for $100M over Shedeur Sanders falling in draft WWW.YARDBARKER.COM Most people were stunned at how long it took for Shedeur Sanders to be selected in the 2025 NFL Draft, but one fan says the experience was downright devastating for him.
  11. Nuck, Nuck, Nuck! 🤑 SEC fans should be concerned after officially being passed by the Big Ten SATURDAYBLITZ.COM For as long as college football fans can remember, the SEC has prided itself on being the top dog. The phrase “It just means more” wasn’t just marketing—it's h What happened, Pawwallllll? 😩

Oregon Football set for Rose Bowl rematch in 2026 College Football Playoff prediction DUCKSWIRE.USATODAY.COM CBS Sports released a projection for the College Football Playoffs that named the Oregon Ducks as the No. 8 seed.

Trump Administration to Create Landmark College Sports Commission WWW.SI.COM The new presidential administration is creating a commission designed to address issues facing a changing college sports landscape. 17. According to the article, OBD expects to receive $54M, far more than had been projected all-in, in B1G revenue in 2025. The Pac-7 + Gonzo members are expected to receive $8M each. I hereby rest my B1G case. 🤑
  18. In anticipation of the House settlement and direct from the school payment to athletes being approved, schools have informed certain athletes, mainly football and men's basketball players, as to the amount they will receive in direct payments. For some reason, NIL collectives, especially in the case of CBB players, upped the NIL bidding for transfer talent for seemingly no reason. $20.5 million in 2025, subject to one of those pesky antitrust suits, is the House settlement direct payment cap, but there is not and cannot be a cap on NIL deals. I imagine direct payment to the player contracts will have an 'exit fee clause' if a player transfers to another school (the Arkansas collective is suing Nico's younger brother, and I think UCLA also, for breach of such a clause), and an assignment of a player's NIL as part of the deal. Good Luck, yuck, yuck. Professional leagues in the USA have caps on salaries, or a 'luxury tax' to hold salaries down, but no professional league is silly enough to try to restrict a player from marketing their own NIL. Seven Deloitte accountants deciding that an NIL deal exceeds 'market value' is DOA. This group is going to review every NIL deal $600 and over. What is this going to cost in billable accountant hours? The House settlement is a last-gasp attempt by the NCAA to remain relevant in big-time college football and basketball. I have no idea why the Power 2 are buying into a settlement that caps direct payments to athletes at the same amount as the G6, ACC, and B12.

  20. We are so fortunate to have Dan on hand. On both lists of CFB's Top 10 jobs, there is One Team, OBD, from the Pacific time zone. 😍 And it's not Tommy Trojan. Ranking the top 10 college football jobs in the NIL era - On3 WWW.ON3.COM The NIL era has shifted how we view the top jobs in college football. Andy Staples and Ari Wasserman give an updated look at the top jobs.
  21. Wow. Another enlightening take. I'm playing checkers when watching the game, you're playing chess. Yes, there were 11 sacks in the game, but the shuffled O lines are attending class in the same ballroom. Is there a better place for an O lineman to be coached up than Eugene? It's going to be a blast watching the starting O line players performing together. Where were the amazing head-on camera shots taken from? Talk about up front and personal! Thank you!
  22. Thanks, ND. Dan was always shoveling sand against the geographic tide (dawgs?) here. The young man's parents can drive to his games, and my guess is they won't have a problem finding a place to stay in Athens. 😁 Mike Bobo. It seems like many Dawg fans want him to go, believing that Kirby is excessively loyal to his college roommate. What are your thoughts on Bobo? Thanks.
  23. Thanks, Gat. With the PO seeding not expected to mirror the Committee's final ranking for one more season, I have no faith in the PO Committee's ability to create a better-balanced playing field. The Committee turns over its chairman and a few other members in 2025-26, but it still has a core group of members who, based only on the EyeTest and not strength-of-schedule, ranked Boise State above B12 champion ASU. Brutal for ASU and its fans. As the fourth and not the third seed, ASU had to travel to Atlanta instead of playing Texas in Glendale. There is no B12 team with solid odds to win the title. A lower-ranked team will grab the 4th seed, and it is likely the No.1 seed will open against a team that is seeded lower than its ranking. The AP Preseason Top 10 - 1. Texas 2. Ohio State 3, Penn State 4. Georgia 5. Notre Dame 6. OREGON 7. Clemson 8. Alabama 9. LSU 10. Miami (would have been Tennessee with Nico.) Playoff Seeding 1. Georgia 2. Oregon 3. Clemson 4. ASU (complete WAG 😁) 5. Ohio State 6. Alabama 7. Notre Dame 8. Penn State 9. Texas 10. Illinois 11. Florida (Does this Gat your attention?😎) 12. UNLV (I think Notre Dame will easily handle Boise in South Bend. Dan Mullen is not a great recruiter but he is a quality coach.) Is it 8/30 yet?😧
