What Arizona State Fans Say About Losing Ra'Shaad Samples...
Who knew that Sun Devils could be more reasonable and respectful than Beavers? As reported by Ducks Wire and elsewhere, Coach Samples's Dad is the coach at Texas powerhouse HS Duncanville. He is wired into Texas. Which is nice.

WOW, WOW and More WOW, Calipari leaving Kentucky for Arkansas
He certainly doesn't leave Lexington for Fayetteville with the same glow he had a few years back. Teams playing for CBB titles this season had experienced players whether from recruiting HS or recruiting the Portal and most often a bit of both. Cal for the most part stayed with one and done frosh wonders. Kentucky has not gotten past the 2nd round of the tournament since 2019. Calipari has a $33M buyout. I wonder how this is being finessed. A huge hire for Arkansas but is Cal past his prime. Who's next for Big Blue? Pitino to Kentucky after once doing great things at Louisville or a younger up-and-coming coach like Bama's Nate Oates? Bruce Pearl at Auburn might also be a candidate. And would Danny Hurley consider leaving UConn?

KUDOS to Our New B1G Friends
Caitlyn Clark gave a good effort, Clark scored 20 points but (the good) women's USC team won the 3rd title in program history, 87 - 75. This game will likely set the record for the most-watched Women's CBB Championship game. Iowa's win over LSU drew more than 12 million viewers. Can Purdue end the B1G's 24-year streak without a men's or women's basketball title? UConn is -6.5.

Recent Study Shows Oregon Ducks not as Attractive in Realignment Landscape as Fans May Think
The 13th Amendment to the Constitution of the United States of America prohibits Indentured Servitude unless a person has committed a crime. Unless you are a duly convicted or confessed criminal and in prison, you cannot be forced to work where you do not want to. This is true of coaches and players. A player may not be able to force a trade, but the player cannot be forced to play. Of course, if the coach or player simply quits they will not be paid. As you so note, coaching contracts provide generally for liquidated damages. Damages are paid instead of breach of contract suits. Contracts may include non-compete clauses but said clauses have to be limited in scope and duration. Prohibiting a coach from coaching elsewhere during the term of the contract is unenforceable.

Recent Study Shows Oregon Ducks not as Attractive in Realignment Landscape as Fans May Think
Restraint on coaches' salaries would be price fixing and unenforceable. Restrictions on transfers in CFB will not happen until there is a players' union management can bargain with. 'Someone' has to figure out how to form and define an inclusive players' union; the easy solution would be for CFB players to join the NFL union if the NFL players are willing to accept college athletes. 'Someone' also has to figure out who makes up 'management.' When players become 'employees' relief may come from Congress; not before.

Pro Football Focus Ranks Power 4 Teams by Returning Statrters
68 P4 teams are ranked. The Pac-2 did not make the list. Yuck, Yuck. College football teams with most returning starters in 2024, ranked 247SPORTS.COM Which college football rosters are stacked with the highest number of returning starters from last season? If your team was putrid in 2023 does it mean all that much to have a bunch of underperformers returning? But for the Power 2 Playoff Contenders with the best odds of making the 12-team field, having experienced players on the roster does matter. B1G - Tied (T) 3. - Iowa - 19 - 9 O/ 9 D/ PK I do not see the Hawkeyes as contenders for the B1G title in 2024 or a true contender for a Playoff spot but Iowa did win the now-defunct B1G West last season and returns many quality starters on D. T - No. 12 - Penn State - 16 - 8 O/ 7D/ Punter On paper, Penn State should go 10-2 in 2024 with the losses coming at home to Ohio State and on the road at USC. T - No. 21 - Ohio State - 15 - 6 O/ 8 D/ PK Plus, tOSU brought in likely starters at QB, RB, CB, and OL from the Portal. T - No. 53 - OREGON - 11 - 6 O/ 4 D/ Punter Plus Oregon brought in likely starters at QB, DB, WR, OL, and DL from the Portal. T - No. 62 - USC - 9 - 3 O/ 4 D/ Punter USC brought in 5 players likely to start on D from the Portal and a QB who will challenge for the starting job. Losing players off of last season's OL and D is not a great loss. 66. Michigan - 6 - 1 O/ 3 D/ PK/ Punter Plus goodbye to HC, DC, and all of the other coaches on D. Moore is going to have to do more with less. 67. Washington - 5 - Zero O/ D 3/ PK/ Punter It's a good thing the punter is back. UW brought in its 2024 starting QB from the Portal and ... UW almost made the anchor position. Good luck Fisching on Montlake. SEC - T - 12 - Georgia - 16 - 8 O/ 6 D/ PK/ Punter And the backups 'aren't bad.' T - 21 - Ole Miss - 15 - 8 O/ 6 D/ PK Plus 4 likely starters on D. 2 on OL both from UW. Kiffin to date, is CFB's No. 1 Portal Picker. Texas - 15 - 6 O/ 8 D/ PK 3 likely starters at WR from the Portal. T - 29 - Missouri - 14 - 9 O/ 5 D Easiest schedule in the SEC but the DC is now the DC at LSU. T. 32 - LSU - 13 - 6 O/ 6 D/ PK Nussmeir at QB is a good 'pinch hitter' for the Heiman winner. Bama and Ole Miss trip to Baton Rouge. T - 57 - Alabama - 10 - 4 O/ 5 D/ Punter Starting center from UW via the Portal. Bama's recruiting prowess will be tested; especially, under a new HC. Let's Play Ball!

Recent Study Shows Oregon Ducks not as Attractive in Realignment Landscape as Fans May Think
Friend Nevada Dawg. whether they know anything regarding Puddles flight patterns, they are college football fanatics. Their fanaticism is confined to the Superior Everywhere Conference which is most understandable both results-wise and time-zone-wise. No one puts the Fanatic in Fan like SEC fans. CFB is not a sport, it's a Religion. A playoff game in 2024 featuring a B1G team and a to-be B1G team was simply sacrilegious. Something that could only happen in a Leap Year. It will take many B1G champ appearances and titles to catch up with the SEC. With Saint Nick leaving town perhaps there is a B1G chance, but your Dawgs are the No. 1 candidate to take Bama's spot. The only guy who could beat Kirby with regularity was Nick.

KUDOS to Our New B1G Friends
Purdue makes the Men's Final 4 and Zack Edey wins the Player-of-the-Year award back-to-back. Purdue is looking for the first B1G title since Michigan State won it all in 2000. Iowa makes the Women's champ game versus South Carolina and Caitlyn Clark wins the Player-of-the-Year award back-to-back. USC(e) is undefeated this season. Last season, Iowa upset USC(e) before losing to LSU in the champ game. Ohio State wins the Women's Ice Hockey championship. Michigan advances to the Frozen 4 for the third season in a row where it will play No. 1 seed Boston College on 4/11 in St. Paul, Minnesota. No. 2 seed Boston University plays No. 3 seed Denver setting up what could be a mini-version of the Bean Pot Tournament. Once a year, BC, BU, Harvard, and Northeastern play for the Bean Pot Trophy in a sold-out Boston Garden. Penn State won its 3rd Men's Wrestling championship in a row, setting an NCAA record for Points Earned in the process. Penn State's Aaron Brooks, who wrestles in the 184 lb. weight class, was the B1G Wrestler of the Year, the NCAA tourney's Most Outstanding, and the National Wrestler of the Year. It will be very tough to accomplish but it would be great for Puddles to fly into the B1G with the conference owning a Men's and Women's NCAA titles. B1G fun coming up.

Predicting the Final Four College Football Playoff Teams in 2024 Season as Postseason Field Expands
I think CFN's take on the teams that will make The Delightful Dozen and the seeding of said teams while not a Final 4 prediction will prove to be more accurate than any of the CBS writers boiling down the Final 4. As in the regular season 'scheduling' will matter in the 12-team playoff. Do you have a first-round bye? If not, do you host a first-round game or go on the road against a difficult opponent? Are you the No. 5 seed which means that you will likely play the G5 representative on your home field? As a No. 5 seed in 2023-24, you would have played Liberty. As a lower seed last season, Oregon would have hosted a hot Missouri team that defeated (an undermanned on O) Ohio State in the Cotton Bowl. Win or lose, the Ducks would have been in a very physical first-round game. If you advance to the second round do you play one of the top two seeds, likely the B1G and SEC conference champions, or a 3 or 4 seed, ACC or B12 champ, likely to be seeded higher than as ranked by the Committee in its final rankings? IMO, preseason rankings that do not pay attention to a team's schedule are worthless. Tom Fornelli of CBS has 3 SEC teams in his Final 4, UGA, Texas, and LSU. Looking at the 2024 schedule these 3 play, one will have a first-round bye. The other two if both make the field will have a tough first-round game unless one captures the No. 5 seed and could play one another in the first-round. Until you know the makeup of The Delightful Dozen and the playoff seeding predicting a Final 4 is fun but it is a complete shot in the dark. https://collegefootballnews.com/rankings/college-football-playoff-top-25-rankings-prediction-2024-spring-what-will-expanded-cfp-be
