Colorado is the New Hotness and That’s Just Fine
On ESPN College Football Live today I was very happy to see Deion calling out the idiots who threatened the CSU player and his family. "It's a game," said Deion, "someone is going to win and someone is going to lose but it's just a game. The young man was playing as hard as he could and made a mistake. It happens and to threaten the young man and his family is wrong; it's inappropriate." Yes, he was wearing his cowboy hat and shades when he so opined. But I think that it is great that he came to the young man's defense.

Dillingham is Snakebit This Season!
Doctor, Yes, and Yes! Also, the mascot's uniform needs to visit the dry cleaner, the training table food is old, moldy, and cold, the 'Get Forked' sign perfectly resembles the program's trajectory, and the support from the fans and the ASU 'leadership' is Vapid. This 'Sleeping Giant' has been napping longer than Rip van W. Tempe is the location of a non-interstellar CFB Black Hole. And yet, didn't these guys prevent Oregon from making a Final 4? If it can be turned around, Dilly will turn it around.

Colorado is the New Hotness and That’s Just Fine
Super take, David, thank you! I am happy that you made the comparison between the NIKE marketing campaign that gave Oregon national awareness and the at the time, unique offense Chip brought to Eugene and the game of CFB. If any team should appreciate aggressive marketing that team is the Ducks. Right, Bodacious? Say what you will in favor of or against Deion but he has put a moribund football program back on the map. I had season tickets for CU football when my daughter, Kordell Stewart, and Heisman winner Salaam, were attending CU. Boulder was electric for every home game. Last season, CU averaged 17,000 fans for its home games. CU was the 66th, on average, most-watched CFB team in the country. CU drew an average of 353K viewers. Today? CU has been the most viewed team in the nation. It was SRO for the Nebraska and CSU games. Has any coaching hire ever scored an immediate off-the-charts ROI as has the hire of Deion? I very much doubt it. The game on Saturday is kicking off at 3:30 Eastern on ABC. Had this game been played in Eugene last season the game would have kicked off at 10:30 Eastern on Larry's Lost Network. Love him or hate him, Deion is dropping bread on Puddles and the audience for Saturday's game should be 6M+ viewers. This, of course, will help Oregon's national recognition, and recruiting, and give Bo and Shedure a grand stage to show off their Heisman bona fides. P5(4) CFB is big business. It is about entertainment. Let's enjoy the circus coming to town and hand Prime and Sons their first L of the season.

Dan Lanning is SERIOUS About Michigan State?
Danno, no. But Oregon State's J Smith is in the mix for the Michigan State job and would IMO, be a terrific hire. Will the allure of the P4 trump 'staying home' in Corvallis? Michigan State coaching candidates: Jonathan Smith, Mike Elko, Sean Lewis lead options to replace Mel Tucker - CBSSports.com WWW.CBSSPORTS.COM Brian Hartline and Jim Leonhard, among others, also make intriguing candidates for the Spartans

No Travis Hunter This Week
Guys who have played the game agree that the CSU player who put the cheap shot on Hunter should have been tossed. Colorado loses two-way star with tough schedule looming WWW.YARDBARKER.COM The University of Colorado will be without one of their best players for three weeks due to injury, as the Buffaloes prepare for one of their toughest stretch of games on the schedule.

Should Oregon Play to its Passing Attack Strengths?
Charles, I think there are a whole lot of savvy fans on this board who are knowledgeable enough, more than partly due to your and Coach Boles' tutelage, to see a spot-on take when delivered. As I noted above, this was a great take, and as long as the team wins who cares how they win? I am fired up to see Bodacious throw it down, and hopefully repeatedly into the end zone against the best group of pitchers perhaps ever assembled in one conference. 4 of Oregon's next 5 games are against, coming into Week 5, 4 undefeated teams. This is unheard of even in the SEC. To win the Pac-12 this final (SIGH) season a team will have to score beau coup points. Yes and of course, the run game matters but this is a pass-first, other than Utah, conference and you best be able to throw the ball and score points through the air. Defending Heisman winner Williams. 400 passing yards plus in the first 3 games Penix. Cam Ward who shredded a ranked Wisconsin team. Former 5* recruit DJU. 5* Dante Moore (SIGH) balling out for UCLA. Sheduer Sanders moving up from FCS ball and moving into 1st round-draft pick territory. And there has yet to be a Rising in SLC. And let us not forget Oregon's own stud QB, Bo Nix. Who at the end of the season, may well be the ultimate Pac-12 and CFB QB. One-third of the way through The Conference of QBs gauntlet. What a blast!

Dillingham is Snakebit This Season!
Reporting to Michael (EAT) Crow and Ray (I'm hiring old friend Herm and changing the paradigm of CFB) Anderson, Dilly was hosed before pitching his tent in Tempe. These 2 buffoons surrendered a 2023 potential bowl game without consulting Dilly or the team: at least the team leadership group and HC should have been consulted, no? I think this great OC went to his dream job and found a nightmare instead. Everyone in life, maybe not Bill Gates and Jeffery Bezos, reports to someone. I think Dilly made an impassioned, young man's mistake and I truly feel for him.

College Football (CFB) Place Your Bets!
For the 1st time since Week 1, I am over the Mendoza Line at 9 and 8. Beware! This is still an Entertainment Only record. Week 4 I'm doing an, 'I'm Going to Wake you Up Early" Beach Boys throw of the dice. Looking at the early spreads, I decided to park the Woody and get down before the lines changed. For the most part, in Week 4 I am on a Left Coast Surfin' Safari in honor of 8 ranked (!) Pac-12 teams, The ACC and Oregon came through for me last week. Prime did not cover but fortunately, Sheduer pulled off his best Tom Brady late-game heroic imitation so we have a match-up of two undefeated teams playing in Eugene on Saturday. This week, in honor of the Conference of QBs, Surf's Up Ducks and Dudes! Week 4 features 3 Pac-12 conference games featuring 6 ranked teams. Who knew, and how did 'Who' screw this up? UCLA +5 at Utah. Could anyone other than Coach Whit be 3-0 at this juncture? QB out. 2 2022 best receivers out. 2 top DL guys out. Best CB out. Kicker out. More guys than are on their Mission. Rice-Eccles Stadium is a MUSS tough place for a visiting team to get a win. But, UCLA defeated Utah rather handily in 2022 in LA. And I am sorry to say that The One who escaped, Dante Moore, is the real deal. I think this will be a terrific game, going against the broadcast of the CU at Oregon game, but I like UCLA to cover coming into SLC with 5 points in the Chipper's favor. Florida brought no O to SLC. I think that Dante does the job and the Bruins cover. USC -33.5 at ASU. Sorry, Week 5 Buffs, but I do not expect SC to be tested before Week 7 at Notre Dame. In the meantime, SC needs to put up massive points to keep the team and Caleb Williams in the spotlight. ASU QB Rashada is hurt. ASU scored ZIP points at home vs. Fresno State and lost 29-0. This is a big line but Dilly has a massive rebuild job on his hands. USC covers. Washington -21 vs. Cal. Idaho is a good FCS team. But Cal found itself down 17 - 0 before fighting back. I think the Penix Heisman Express keeps on rolling here and the Huskies easily cover the -21. WOOF! (I hope you have fleas!) OREGON -19,5 vs. Colorado. Another huge spread especially against an undefeated team. But even before all-world Travis Hunter got cheap-shotted, I think the Ducks would have won this game by close to 3 scores. The whole CFB world, except for Bruins and Utes fans, will be watching. I think OREGON will win this game by 25 to 30 points. (GULP.) Oregon State -2.5 at Washington State - I think WSU's Cam Ward is the better QB in this game. Forget the points, I'm taking Wazzu on the Money Line +124. Wazzu has a win over an at-the-time-ranked Wisconsin team. Oregon State has yet to play a P5 team. Left behind Wazzu is as motivated to win this game as is Left Behind Oregon State. If the game was in Corvallis I'd be going the other way but on The Palouse, I think under-Cougar Wazzu wins. And at +124 that's a heck of a Money Line payout. May the best Pac-2 team win! OK, I am getting off my surfboard and tripping East for two games. Oklahoma -14 at Cincinnati. Cincy was last seen losing to Miami-Ohio at home. Oklahoma behind QB Dillion Gabriel is lighting it up. I see a pasting here Sooner rather than later and OK easily getting the cover. (I also see the Sooners upsetting Texas in the last B12 Red River Rivalry game. (How great does the TX W at Bama look today?) UNC -5.5 at Pitt. Drake Maye and the UNC passing game woke up and sunk Fleck's row boat. Pitt was last seen trying to find an offense in West Virginia. To date, Pitt coach Pat Narduzzi is not doing a very good job auditioning for the Michigan State job. (And last season's Pitt starting QB Kedon Slovis, now at BYU, just took down the Hogs on the road. Another SEC P5 OOC loss. I'm heartbroken for good ole' Pawel.) Reviewing the Week 4 bidding. UCLA +5 at Utah USC - 33.5 at ASU UW -21 vs. Cal OREGON -19.5 vs. Prime Time Washington State vs. Oregon State - Wazzu -Money Line +124 winner. Oklahoma -14 at Cincinnati UNC - 5.5 at Pitt Before you bet, make certain that you can lose and still balance your checks.

ESPN Names Most Overrated Teams
Alabama, #4? Fraudulent Prediction Index. Here is another ESPN guy, Bill Connolly, ranking the Pac-12 undefeated teams out of the 39 undefeated going into Week 4. 1. Washington - SOS 74 vs. Cal 4. USC - SOS 124 at ASU 11. OREGON - SOS 78 vs. CU 14. Utah - SOS 38 vs. UCLA 15. UCLA - SOS 102 at Utah 16. Oregon State - SOS 97 at Wazzu 24. Washington State - SOS 67 vs. OR. ST. 26. CU - SOS 55 at OREGON. If you are going to rank undefeated teams, why in the heck not rank by SOS? This is a beef I've long had with the Playoff Committee rankings where it's SOS every committee member for themselves. Adjusted for SOS - 1. Utah - 38 2. CU - 55 3. Washington State - 67 4. UW - 74 5. OREGON - 78 6. Oregon State - 97 7. UCLA - 102 8. USC - 124 There will be at least 3 fewer undefeated teams in the Pac-12 after this Saturday. In its next 5 games, Oregon plays 4 currently undefeated teams. Heck of a gauntlet when you have 8 undefeated teams and the conference plays 9 conference games. But in the final season of the Final 4, all that will matter is Ws and Ls, and SOS be darned.

No Travis Hunter This Week
I agree with Saturday Out West's Jon Gold. That was a cheap shot against Hunter with the intent to injure. The CSU guy should have been kicked out of the game. Guys are kicked for far less vicious targeting. The hit on Hunter cannot be explained away or excused. If a player put a late hit like that on Troy Franklin, Ducks fans would be righteously upset. 10 things I’m absolutely overreacting to after Week 3 in the Pac-12 SATURDAYOUTWEST.COM How can you not overreact to the top conference in college ball? Washington is streaking, the Heisman is a 2-man Pac-12 race and Colorado is 3-0.

No Travis Hunter This Week
According to The Athletic, Hunter will miss the next 3 weeks. Without Hunter at DB, the CSU QB found a lot of open receivers. Bo should go off. But -19,5? I am pondering a bet on the game and I never bet against the Ducks.

How to watch CU vs Ducks
Search NCAA games on TV. Ducks/CU has been up for a week-plus on ABC at 3:30 Eastern. OSU/WSU and UCLA/Utah both were assigned times and a network (both on Fox) in the last couple of days.
