  1. The network facilities are perfect for signing on with a tech, streaming company. I see absolutely no reason why ESPN would want the Pac-10 to fail.
  2. They likely have such a clause but it has to be discretionary with both ESPN and Fox. These 2 media companies are not going to surrender a business decision to any conference. Before an offer was confirmed ESPN committed more dough to the SEC. Ditto for Fox and B1G. The expansion was not agreed to without 1st going to the source of the money needed to fund expansion. The SEC and B1G schools would not have agreed to expand if it meant a lesser media money share for them. As I've noted before, the B12 commish's mouth is writing checks he can't cash.
  3. Exactly. This is the UGA way that Dan will follow.
  4. Rufus, good take but I seriously doubt that ESPN wants to pay any more $ for B12 inventory. If it shared the cost at 50% with Fox which is the current arrangement that would mean an additional $70M a year at a time when ESPN, beginning in 2024, has to pay another $140M a year in SEC media rights for Oklahoma and Texas. And I doubt that Fox with the LA market in hand will pay a dime more for B12 inventory. ESPN needs Left Coast inventory for the 7:30 and 10:30 time slots. I'll believe ESPN is not interested when I hear from a Pac-10 HQ or an ESPN HQ source.
  5. This is Buffalo apples. Clean up on aisle 10! What in the heck are the sources of this garbage? If Canzano, Wilner, ESPN executives, or the Pac-10 isn't reporting I am not paying attention to the Chicken Little's who have no vested interest other than to create clicks. It's a long off-season. For goodness sake, the B1G agreement took 9 months to negotiate and it turns out that due to Warren's incompetence, the deal is not done yet. Where's the article on UCLA having 2nd thoughts and returning to the Pac? The article on SC buying a pig in the poke. Bullies love to target people and entities that are down.
  6. I believe $20M will be short of the number by at least $10M. In today's depressed media world are there any media entities willing to rush in and fund Pac-10 school's relocation? ESPN needs Left Coast late-night Eastern time zone kickoffs and Fox has elbowed ESPN out of the LA market. All of these outsiders are more than willing to spend other people's money. Conferences do not write checks. Media companies and most likely streaming companies write checks. Most of these gurus would fail Economics 101.
  7. I have no idea why SDSU does not give notice today. If the Aztecs withdraw notice the MW will kick SDSU out of the MW and lose the San Diego market. I don't think so. Unfair dealing? Maybe but when have college presidents ever litigated other than via failed NCAA filings?
  8. Quality, and filling the right holes and not quantity matters.
  9. Bill Connelly has posted his revised rankings on ESPN+ (paywall.) He has also posted the top 10, 2023 recruiting classes, including portal pick-ups, future impact on the SP+ rankings. The SP+ algorithm focuses on three statistics - returning production, recent recruiting, and recent history. Top 10 1. Georgia will not be tested before the November game at TN 2. Ohio State 3. Michigan 4. Alabama - interesting to see The Tide behind 2 B1G schools 5. LSU is my pick to win the SEC W in 2023 6. Tennessee 7. USC - Based on recent history? 8. Penn State - Can PSU win at least one of the games versus Michigan and at Ohio State? 9. Texas - see USC - When it comes to the final Final 4, 2nd week at Alabama is the pivotal game 10. FSU - the 2023 version of 2022 A+M? 4 SEC teams with Texas coming on board; no surprise. 3 B1G East teams in what is likely the last season of B1G divisions. 1 Pac-12 team last seen being blown out in the conference champ game and losing the Cotton Bowl to G5 Tulane 1 ACC team, FSU - a team that is overrated IMO Rest of the Pac-12 and other rankings of interest - 11. OREGON - consistent with most of the other preseason rankings SP+ has the Ducks playing Troy for the conference title. 14. Utah so much is riding on one guy's health. Nice 4* QB pick up yesterday 17. UW - SP+ is not as high on UW as most of the other rankings out there 24. UCLA - a breeze of an OOC schedule and no Oregon or UW in-conference 30. Oregon State J Smith has the Beavers on the rise. Half of the conference in the top 30 is a darn good showing 54. CAL 58. Washington State 68. ASU - Will this be a Tempe trap game for the Ducks? 70. Arizona - I do not understand why AZ is behind ASU. 95. Stanford - welcome aboard Coach Traylor 103 Colorado - Connelly notes that with all of the roster turnover CU is 'unprojectable.' Others of Interest - 30. Texas Tech - Should be a fistfight and perhaps a shootout in Lubbock. 50. SMU - A nice showing for a potential Pac-10 add-on. 85. SDSU - UCLA best watch out or the Bruins could be Snap Dragoned in San Diego. Also a good G5 opponent for the Beavers. 124. Hawaii - Surf's down? SP+ 2023 recruiting rankings including portal pickups by potential future impact - 1. LSU Keely could be Saban's and Smart's nightmare. 2. Oklahoma - Will the current OK staff coach these guys up? 3. OREGON - A nice ranking for DL and Puddles. 4. Miami - but can Mario coach these guys up? Is the Moon made of green cheese? 5. A+M - excellent recruiting has yet to translate to the field of play - will Petrino make a difference? 6. Florida - Billy Napier has yet to move the needle in Gainesville even with the #4 drafted QB. 7. Ohio State I think this reflects more on the Buckeyes not having to use the portal. 8. Auburn - it's now legal for Freeze to pay players. 9. USC - not this high but for the portal. Troy will not be the B1G's lead sled dog in regard to scheduling and otherwise. 10. Michigan - Harbaugh is bringing in quality players to play smash-mouth football but playoff-wise he is following in Riley's o-4 footprint. What's your take on Billy's computer? Spot on or epic fail?
  10. Oregon, please follow suit. Miami Hurricanes AD Dan Radakovich helped new ACC revenue model CANESWARNING.COM Miami Hurricanes athletic director Dan Radakovich helped drive the new ACC revenue distribution model announced by the conference's board of directors...
  11. Interesting to see Texas Tech and SMU on the list. But should USC be #1 ahead of Georgia and Bama? SC ended up with a higher-ranked overall roster when you add portal entries but Oregon beat SC in recruiting in 2022 and is doing so now.
  12. It's looking good now and I believe in the future for Oregon and if GK comes through, which I believe will happen, for the Pac-10. Doomsayers be damned. Rats! I've lost my gif and don't know where to find it. Actually, I do know and I plan to trip to computer land to buy a better laptop. Thinks for this and all of the other great posts.
  13. Don't give up the good ship Pac-10. The ship may be listing but the pumps are at work.
  14. NJD - no ajata directed at you for posting this tarnished Gold take. It certainly has a bearing on today's situation. Bearing? With this guy's internal compass, I'd be surprised if he can back out of his driveway.
  15. Only 1 early morning restroom break. I envy you, Sir. Thanks for being on the watchtower. An Auburn fan trolling? Get A Life!
  16. What was his source for ESPN not being in the mix? ESPN was shut out of the LA market by Fox. ESPN needs late-night kick-offs on the Left Coast. I'm sick and tired of this unsourced so-called journalism. Dennis Dodd's source for this stuff was an unnamed B12 person. These fools can vomit whatever they like in an attempt to get clicks. GK speaks to what is going on or Wilner/Canzano report on media negotiations and I will pay attention. Attention is all that Gold and other dip-sticks are looking for.
  17. Kamikazi, great take. If the Pac-10 doesn't put at least 50% of its inventory on the streaming Come line, I will50% of its inventory on the streaming Come line I am going to be upset. Risky? Yes but now is the time when a risk IMO is well justified.
  18. I'm guessing that the young man was not trying to transfer to Clemson, FSU, NC State, or VA Tech?
  19. I'd Schill like to know (sorry) how Oregon voted on possible expansion into the Central time zone. I like that Schill is between the lines touting Oregon moving to the B1G but where is the money coming from for this to happen; especially, after Kevin Backstabbing Warren left the conference without a finalized media deal in place? Among other foul-ups, Warren promised the broadcast of the B1G champ game to NBC when he had no right to do so. Ditto his promise to NBC that it would broadcast late-night games through November without checking in with his bosses and ADs who are opposed to playing late beyond the first week in November. If UCLA is not having 2nd thoughts UCLA president Block (Head) and AD Jarmin are not paying attention. As we are seeing with Larry's legacy, the shortfall in the media deal may be the tip of the iceberg.
  20. Res Ipsa Loquitur - This scathing article on Kevin Warren's performance as the B1G commissioner speaks for itself. Larry's twin brother separated at birth? How do the consultants who recommended guys like Warren, Larry, and Mike Bohn escape litigation for gross negligence? Why do conferences and teams hire consultants when ADs are being paid very good money? Hickey: Turns out former B1G commissioner Kevin Warren might actually be a damn idiot SATURDAYTRADITION.COM Kevin Warren's parting gift to the Big Ten is a media rights contract that won't be worth as much as initially reported -- thanks to Warren.

  23. It's a golden age for Bo and other "student-athletes" but not for college athletics as a whole. However, I have no beef with college athletes' right to own and market their NIL. The NFL has a team salary cap but no cap on what a player can make off of his NIL.
