Oregon House Bill: College Coaches, ADs Could Be Suspended for Bad Fan Behavior
THIS is even worse than the legislature attempting to dictate the right to decide whether Oregon/Oregon State can leave for a new conference. What are the Oregon schools and their respective AD supposed to do if this excrement was to pass? Surround the field with police officers? Frisk all patrons on their way into the stadium. Oregon House Bill Would Require Approval of State Legislature for Public Universities to Change Conferences
The Oregon solons have nothing better to do? SMH. The Oregon schools are not governed by the a board of state regents as is the case in California.

CBS Sports Dennis Dodd at it Again
Instead of posting ASU President Michael Crow's solid commitment to the Pac-10 Dodd used leading questions directed to the Arizona President to stir up more stuff about the Pac-10 breaking apart. Endeavor consulting, working with the B12 has Dennis Dodd in its pocket. The Arizona President said that Arizona is 95% committed to the Pac-10 and there would be no sense in moving if the B12 media deal is a few million more than the Pac-10 deal. Dodd spins this into both CU and Arizona possibly leaving for the B12. Larry must have done something to tick off Dodd. Arizona president talks keeping Pac-12 together, TV deal expectations, deadlines, Big 12 interest and more - CBSSports.com WWW.CBSSPORTS.COM In an extensive conversation, Robert Robbins explains the state of the Pac-12 may not be what it seems Dennis Dodd is a tool; a tool for the B12.

Report: ASU President Michael Crow On Record About Pac-12 Media Rights
Streaming is risky. But as well know my Vegas good friend there is no return without risk. Unlike the network that was without a media partner set up to fail, I think the future lies in streaming. At 76 I'm not the demographic that matters. It's 'the kids' who matter and I think GK is on target in saying that he wants Pac-10 sporting events to be able to be watched on anything with a piece of glass.

Report: ASU President Michael Crow On Record About Pac-12 Media Rights
The GOR is expected to end 1 year prior to the new B1G deal ending. I think this is smart timing and represents a 5-year deal. Thus the new deal will also conclude before the B12 deal and the ACC's deal. This time frame also allows time to determine whether streaming college sports, at least Pac-12 sports, will provide a decent return for both the streaming entity and the conference. Jim Delany was roasted when he came up with the idea to form an all-sports network for the B1G. Turns out that the B1G and FOX both hit a home run. Larry struck out because he had the conference go-it-alone without a media partner. Streaming works and today's oft-maligned GK could be the toast of the Pac-10 and the nation.

Report: ASU President Michael Crow On Record About Pac-12 Media Rights
This is groundbreaking negotiating; no streaming source outside of ESPN+ is involved with broadcasting college sports. Plus, GK inherited a mess of a network. I agree that no school is likely to leave for a few million more and I still question whether FOX and or ESPN want to come up with $31.7M for each of the four corner schools to move to the B12. Also as I noted before why would any of the 4 agree to take a smaller cut than BYU? I'm keeping the faith. I do expect further consolidation down the road so the Pac-10 deal expiring a year before the B1G's new deal makes a lot of sense. Who knows how happy the LA schools will be after a few years with all of the travel? Staying at 10 teams may be the smart choice and more lucrative in the short run. The B12 was a Power 5 conference for many years with only 10 teams and no divisions.

Report: ASU President Michael Crow On Record About Pac-12 Media Rights
Indeed, he was one of Larry's biggest enablers. I liked what he had to say here but when it comes to realignment trust no one.

Solutions for the Lacking TE Room?
Hayward, with the $ a pro baseball team would be paying him do you think the team would let him play CFB? I know this has happened before but today we are talking huge dollars.

Incompetent PAC-12 Leadership
I should have noted that AAU member and ACC member Georgia Tech could also be attractive for both the B1G and the SEC.

Now This is Interesting . . . New UO President Announced (from B1G)
PA Duck and anyone else, do you have any idea where this gentleman stands regarding college athletics? Wisconsin is historically very good in football, basketball, and ice hockey. But does this gentleman give a whip about sports? I'm hoping he is not another Bloch at UCLA. As an economist, I hope he understands how success on the playing field and court lifts all boats and helps the bottom line. I wonder what role if any he played in terminating Paul Chryst and bringing in Luke Fickell as HC of the football team?
-
Incompetent PAC-12 Leadership
B1G 24? 3-6-6 - 3 permanent opponents and 6 others that vary season by season or every 2 seasons allowing for an H+H series. 1 protected game if need be such as Michigan vs Ohio State. CAL, Stanford, UCLA, USC [could be CU and Utah which would make UCLA/SC permanent opponents with OR and UW] Iowa, Nebraska, Oregon, UW [could be CU and Utah; see above.] Illinois, Minnesota, Northwestern, Wisconsin Indiana, Michigan, Michigan State, Purdue Ohio State, Penn State, Pitt, Rutgers Duke, Maryland, North Carolina, Virginia All B1G newbies would be AAU member schools. SEC goes to 24 including Clemson, FSU, Miami, NC State, and Va Tech. This allows for 10 votes in favor of breaking up the ACC and terminating the crummy media deal before 2036. ESPN is OK with this because it does not have the cost of owning and operating the ACC Network.

MBB NIT: 3/15/23, Ducks vs UC Irvine, (Ducks WIN 84-58)
Irvine is a tough 1st round draw for a team seeded on the one line. But the NIT is for good reason, $, more travel-conscious than the NCAA. BTW, after defeating UCLA for the conference title I think Arizona got screwed being a 2 seed and not playing in the west. Meanwhile, UCLA down its all-conference D player gets to play in Sacramento. The game against Gonzaga will be a witch but IMO Kansas is a weak #1 seed. Get by Gonzaga and UCLA returns to Las Vegas in the Sweet 16. Arizona? The Wildcats make the Sweet 16 and play in Louisville.

Lanning Can’t Accept Defensive Mediocrity in 2023
The Oregon State OL was the story of the 4th Q in Corvallis. That was a very talented and well-coached group. Having said this, I think your comment is more than fair. The D looked gassed and out-of-shape at the end of the game. I agree with Joshua that the D must improve but Nix being hurt likely cost both the UW and OR ST Ls. Dilly's RPO oriented O was not the same after Nix was dinged in the UW game. The Pac-12's final CFB season as we know it should be very competitive if Williams, Penix, Nix and Rising can play and stay healthy.

Lanning Can’t Accept Defensive Mediocrity in 2023
Thank you, Joshua. Ditto for not-so-special teams. The coaching of the D last season did not translate to the field. Sewell largely disappeared, now a likely 3rd or 4th round pick and Flowe is off to Tucson. Defense travels. And with games at Utah and UW and a sneaky tough game at ASU, the D better be improved if the Ducks are going to make a run at a Pac-12 title. Always great to read your takes.

Pac-12 Oregon's Coverage of Men's Basketball
Well, The Pac-10 received 2 bids from the Tournament Committee. One, ASU a play-in game bid, and Arizona with a 2 seed bid in what looks to be a brutal West Bracket. The Pac-12 has 4 bids. Oregon, Utah, CU, and UW have to up their CBB performances. CAL appears to be a lost cause. Ditto Stanford. I note that San Diego State made it as a 5th seed. Boise and Nevada also received bids. UNC turned down an NIT bid. I imagine the Ducks will get a 1st round home game.

Canzano: Cutting Through the Noise About the Pac-12
Would she have been willing to take a pay cut? I would think she is making more money in her current position than GK is being paid. I agree with you in regard to her qualifications. To date, GK has done nothing that was not a no-brainer such as getting the offices and broadcast facilities out of San Francisco. He got played by Kevin Warren, SC, and UCLA. And I have no idea why he needed to add an assistant commissioner and what does Merton Hanks do that a properly programmed computer cannot do?

Canzano: Cutting Through the Noise About the Pac-12
FWIW, the Utah AD called out Dennis Dodd. He says that Utah is not in contact with the B12. 4 corners schools at 31.7M each per season in the B12 means that ESPN/FOX would have to come up with an additional $126.8M a season. I do not see any of the 4 corner schools leaving for a lesser cut than BYU. And I do not see the 12 teams in the B12 agreeing come 2024 to take a financial haircut to add the 4 schools. FOX seems more than satisfied with the theft of the LA schools. ESPN is not coming with an additional $126.8M a season for the 4 corner schools when it can acquire the tier 1 broadcast rights of the existing Pac-12 schools for, and I am speculating, approximately $25 to 30M per school augmented by income from a streaming entity. I think Fresno, Boise, and Gonzaga basketball is in the wheelhouse of what the B12's broadcast partners will be willing to pay. And I think it is just as likely for the B12 to add Tulane, Memphis, USF, E. Carolina, for example, than add any Pac-12 school or Mountain West school. These 4 schools would likely sign on with the B12 for a lesser share than the 12 B12 schools. San Diego State is the media market prize in the Pacific time zone and Baylor/TCU do not want SMU in the B12.

Oregon, Washington B1G Consideration After April 17th
To get to the playoff I'd rather play teams that are not historically difficult opponents.

PAC-12 Portal Winners
Full disclosure. Having USC and UCLA on the positive side of the ledger does not move my needle.
