  1. The D best be ready to go? UGA O has its championship winning QB back and 6 other starters on O, including some darn good OL guys. BYU, even with losing an all time RB returns 88% of its 2021 production on O. This includes QB Jaren Hall who missed 3 games due to injury but still finished with 2583 passing yards, 64% completion rate and 20 TDs. He also had 62 carries for 307 yards and 3 TDs. (In CFB this of course includes yardage lost on sacks.) I wonder if there was ever another HC who faced such a daunting OOC schedule in his first season?
  2. 1935. Last time A+M finished #1 in CFB. Jimbo without a Jameis? Playing in the SEC west? Good luck. No more delusional fans than A+M and UT fans.
  3. At least now a lot of this 'stuff' is above the table. Man, the NCAA should have settled the O'Bannon and Alston cases, seen 'this' coming from a mile way and adopted NIL with reasonable restrictions. Not a cap on the money that a player can make off of NIL but rules against NIL be used as a recruiting and portal inducement.
  4. Now THAT's some kind of southern! Beautiful countryside, beautiful.
  5. A new world, no doubt. But more a new money-bag' world than a brave one?
  6. Penalty? Buy a pit bull and keep him in the backyard?
  7. Great take. The UGA D only returns 4 starters but it will be far better than the shaky D Ohio State put on the field all season long in 2021. Better players and better coached. UGA lost Lanning but not Kirby. Utah loses Lloyd but will likely be better with the return of Rising as the starting QB from day 1. Not easy going on the road for 5 conference games.
  8. Agree with Gusduck. Find a guy who can kick the ball out of the end zone, is reliable on FG tries and can make a FG from 50 yards out. Don't know if he's any good but I see that former USC kicker Peter Morton is in the portal? It's just the Spring game but Lewis looked more like the 2020 and 2021 late season Lewis than he did when he was solid early in 2021.
  9. Tossing their cookies in one of Lincoln Riley's bathrooms?
  10. And playoff filet for the SEC.
  11. Steve, it's already started. By 2023, conferences will be governing themselves. The NCAA Constitution has been so amended and the Transition Committee is in the process of coming up with a new plan of governance. As it should be! 1100 schools are NCAA members. A D3 should not have the have voting power as Alabama. Ditto Texas State and Texas. SEC commissioner Greg Sankey, is co-chair of the Transition Committee. At the very least, rules and regulations will be different for the P5 and G5 than for lower divisions.
  12. UNC was not penalized for two decades of academic fraud and CAM was eligible, right? Oregon was punished in record time for Chip using a 'runner' in recruiting. No SEC schools were doing the same, right? (Do you mean Fields, not Pryor? Pryor led Ohio State to an undefeated season and missed the post-season because of Tattoo-gate.)
  13. At $2.9M a year I'll take the job. I'm qualified. I know that the Jayhawks basketball arena is located in Lawrence, KS and not in Kansas City, KS. Of course, post Emmert, there is nothing left to do but manage post season athletic events. This guy was a Larry Scott-like clown who blew millions of dollars in legal fees trying to protect an outdated, unfair to the players, 'student-athlete' model. It took 12 years for the 'enlightened scholars' Emmert reported to end his run of ruin.
  14. Saw a stat today that confirms the grass is not always greener. 42% of players with scholarships who enter the portal do not end up getting a new scholarship. Sad. Who in the heck is advising these young men?
  15. I'm transplanted. Grew up in Boston then spent decades in the west. Love the southeast, except for the games kicking off so darn late! Once upon a time the Ducks did have a H+H scheduled with UGA but it was canceled by the Dawgs. But this is a new age dawning. Exhibit A: Florida tripping to Salt Lake City in 2023.
  16. UGA will be a true test. But I wish the game was being played after opening against Portland State?
  17. Thanks David. Great and spot on take. Vince Lombardi 'returning' as Mario Cristobal has me believing in reincarnation.
  18. $5M without me being a member? Hard to believe. If I played ball on this track they would gotten $10M! It takes a lot of skill to learn how to bounce a ball off a roof top and back to the fairway. Incoming!
  19. Thanks 30. I agree that Nix is on top at this point in time. He looked a little gimpy to me and one thing that needs to be worked on is getting his ankle back to 100%. If healthy and playing down by contact, I think Nix would have avoided two of the sacks called against him? Not surprisingly Nix, while making a couple of baffling throws, does look to have the best pocket awareness of the 3 QBs. Here's hoping that Ty and Butters stay on board through the summer. If a transfer does not occur by May 1 the player will not be eligible for 2022. This is the only control over what is today's CFB 'free agency.' The spring game, by design, was pretty vanilla. With the lack of running plays and no QB contact it looked more like a 7 on 7 game. But it was a lot of fun to watch those 'home run' tosses after watching '3 yards and a cloud of dust' for the prior 3 seasons. Also great to see the QBs take snaps directly from center and the unloading of the pistol. Dillingham has the freedom that Joe Moorhead would have wished for.
  20. I agree. With this schedule 9-3 with a north title would be a very good showing in year one. Things lighten up in 2023 with at Texas Tech replacing 'at' Georgia. And 4 and not 5 conference road games. It will be interesting to see where the 2023 game vs USC will be played? Caleb Williams is a true sophomore in 2022 so he will not be pro eligible until 2024, his 3rd CFB season.
  21. But going to Atlanta to start the season versus Georgia is not like honeymooning in Maui.
  22. Kurt, the NCAA is in the process of turning over P5/G5 regulation to the conferences. The Transition Committee is expected to release its regulation suggestions in July or August. As I have noted before, this committee is co-chaired by SEC commissioner Greg Sankey and the Ohio University AD. The NCAA has made some noise about NIL being used as recruiting inducement but after a 9-0 Supreme Court butt wiping I don't think the NCAA wants to face further litigation in the process of protecting the 'student-athlete' model.
  23. It's up to the school whether to immediately cut the scholarship when a player enters the portal. Some portal entries are re-recruited when they, like Seven, enter the portal. This was also the case with a Georgia 5* OL guy who entered the portal.
  24. Sir Charles, please forgive me dear Sir. FROM THE BARD - 'In the Spring. When proud-pied April dressed in all his trim Hath put a spirit of youth in every thing.' The 'spirit' includes all of these great comments. And perhaps, the pre-game shenanigans? Did Willy ever attend a spring game? Avon vs Oxford?
  25. Spot on. But Montana had the lesser arm but the far better head than did Favre. Bo has the Favre moxie. But the Joe Montana head?
