  1. The Melt Down Took the Entire Village 😒 Grading the Oregon position groups in a disappointing loss in the Rose Bowl DUCKSWIRE.USATODAY.COM Grading the Oregon position groups in a disappointing 41-21 loss at the Rose Bowl in Pasadena, Calif.
  2. Let's See Moore of THIS in 2025! Oregon Ducks WR Dakorien Moore wins Under Armour All-American MVP DUCKSWIRE.USATODAY.COM Oregon Ducks 5-star wide receiver Dakorien Moore was named the Under Armour NEXT All-American Game MVP on Thursday.
  3. The USA Today's Dan Wolken does not pull any punches in the direction of the SEC. WOW! SEC and its Dear Leader should accept reality: League no longer rules college football WWW.USATODAY.COM The SEC, which only has one team left in the College Football Playoff, is just like everyone else now. And that's a good thing. Fun read for Dixie outliers but IMO an overreaction to one tough year exacerbated by SEC HQ coming up with puzzling in-conference schedules. And the SEC is repeating the schedules in 2025? 😁 Isn't Greg Sankey supposed to be the smartest guy in the CFB World? Hey Lane, nice win over Duke yesterday, a team from a truly crummy conference without its starting TD who left Duke for Oregon State 🤮.
  4. Irish open -1.5 vs. Penn State in the Orange Bowl. Notre Dame vs. Penn State odds: 2025 Orange Bowl spread, preview for College Football Playoff semifinal game - CBSSports.com WWW.CBSSPORTS.COM The Fighting Irish and Nittany Lions will meet with a spot in the national championship game on the line If PSU's Abdul Carter cannot play I'm writing 2025 off as the year the Irish got super lucky. 😒
  5. A fair question to ask, indeed. But one rule of business that I think makes sense: Don't rush to make changes based on the best performance and more importantly, on the worst performance. 1/1/25 tOSU "A+" from Day on down. Pursuing the Buckeyes boards, no one wants Day, Chip, Knowles, etc. fired Today. But lose as a favorite to Texas? Fail to win the Natty? Dan, as he admitted and all of the coaches failed spectacularly. As did the players. OBD was touted as a peer-based leadership team. So the no-show is not all on the coaching staff. Even OBD's reliable punter when most needed stunk it up. BUT, OBD never quit even with the run game doing nothing. Gabe ended up throwing for 299 yards and two TDs. Holden played his best game of the season: 8 TR/ 7 REC/ 116 YDS/ 2 TDs. Ohio State shut it down after building a huge lead and knowing Ohio State had another game to play but again, OBD kept on playing and gave the Buckeyes a few hiccups at least. Questioning Tosh? Righteous! But along with yesterday's performance we saw the game in Madison, Wisconsin, OBD's 8th game in a row without a break, on the road for the second time in three weeks in December against a team coming off an Idle week. The Ducks D won the game. Dan preaches competition and I think this includes an ongoing evaluation of the coaching staff. 1/1/25 - They all get an "F-." But that was yesterday. B1G rebuild on hand. More portal help is likely on the way. Horse Hockey from CBS as to Oregon having to better develop players when Dan has been on the job for three seasons. Without portal players, Oregon would not have gotten a sniff of the conference championship in 2024. Three of the four quarter-final-winning QBs transferred in including Ewers who spent a season at Ohio State. Terrific comment. Thank you.
  6. Texas will need LUCK IF the team that played Tennessee and OBD in the Rose Bowl shows up. Unlike playing at home and in Pasadena, tOSU will not have the majority of fans at the game in Dallas. This team put the Michigan loss behind it with an emphatic home victory and doubled down with a revenge blowout of OBD. But it's the same group of coaches and players that almost lost at home to Nebraska. Ohio State has the roster to play like it did against the Vols and the Ducks every game out and did so in the last two games and at home vs. Indiana, Illinois. and Iowa. If the Longhorns stop shooting itself in the hoof, winning in Dallas may not be so easy. Texas has lost two games this season as has Ohio State. Texas has not lost to an unranked team. Come on Bucks! Show us the bucks.
  7. Given the format handed to the Committee, how could these folks not foul up? Many folks saw this coming from far more than a mile away and the format was changed from 6/6 to 5/7 but the G5 conferences were not going to vote for a G5 champ to have preferred seeding if ranked the 4th highest conference champion. Maybe we see a change before 2026-27 but we will see changes to the format in 2026-27.
  8. My OBD friends, as Desmond Howard said earlier in the season when Georgia defeated Texas in Austin: Texas showed up for a football game. Georgia showed up for a street fight. -23 yards rushing. 8 sacks surrendered and you do not want the OL coach and Will Stein sacked? This was a program loss from head to toe. If ---------- was the Oregon DC, OBD wins the game. Right? Switch Tosh and Ohio State DC Jim Knowles and the result would have been different? Jeremiah Smith plays for tOSU, not Oregon. The TD catch by Egbuka that put Ohio State up by 14 was perfectly defended and bounced back into the wide receiver's hands. Stuff Happens! The DL guys who played for Ohio State yesterday are the same guys who played against Oregon on 10/12/24. Between the Ohio State loss in Eugene and the Rose Bowl game, the Bucks DL players did not get bigger or faster than Oregon. They showed up ticked off and after beating down Tennessee, ready to do the same vs. OBD. The Ducks OL gave up 13 sacks until yesterday's game when it surrendered eight sacks. The tOSU LBs and DBs were able to take deep drops and Gabe's guys were not open. And he was harassed on many of his passes in the 1st half. Gabe's size showed up yesterday. The Bucks DL guys looked like volleyball players. Perhaps there should be some assistant coaching changes but yesterday's game for the health of the program needs to be flushed down the toilet where it belongs. Based on yesterday's performance, everyone should be axed, from the HC to the locker room attendants. Turn the page.
  9. Notre Dame. Georgia Tech's starting QB out. Georgia starting QB out. I hope Penn State stomps ND but it looks like any bad luck went away after getting ill vs No. Ill.
  10. No Surprise. A Class Act from Tez. Oregon Ducks WR Tez Johnson shows true class with post-game gesture after Rose Bowl loss WWW.YARDBARKER.COM It was the ultimate showing of sportsmanship by Tez Johnson after Oregon's tough loss to Ohio State in the Rose Bowl on New Years Day. Johnson remained
  11. I'm also feelin' the pain. Brutal end to a terrific season. Was that OBD in Pasadena or a group of imposters? Painful as heck but as I expressed to the spouse this morning, for me at least is easier to get over a no-show than what ASU fans are experiencing today. Without Ewers in OT, Sark would have been skewered. Next case, tOSU -4.5 vs. Texas in Dallas. Come On Buckeyes! (GULP!) Beat the BOB Out of The Bobcats! (1/6/25 - 4 PM, ESPN, Montana State Bobcats, coming to Eugene on 8/30/25, vs the North Dakota State Bison for the FCS title and with the opportunity to finish undefeated (SIGH.)
  12. Oregon Fans, Keep the Faith! What's ahead for Oregon: It's time for player development to eclipse transfer portal as Ducks' modus operandi - CBSSports.com WWW.CBSSPORTS.COM Oregon must also replace Dillon Gabriel as it moves forward
  13. From the "Loyal Opposition." Troy in Town on 11/22. 11/29/25, OBD in Seattle. The Saturday Before OBD Returns to Indy? Keep the Faith! Oregon football got a brutally unfair College Football Playoff bracket TROJANSWIRE.USATODAY.COM Is it great for USC and its fans that Oregon got hammered? Yes. Still: It’s not right that a 13-0 team got the toughest draw of the top four playoff seeds.
  14. Another Good Summary of a Bad (not for Ryan) Day, Takeaways from Oregon Ducks blowout loss to Ohio State in Rose Bowl DUCKSWIRE.USATODAY.COM Some of the biggest takeaways and notes from the Oregon Ducks 41-21 blowout loss to the Ohio State Buckeyes in the Rose Bowl.
  15. It reminded me of OBD's pasting of UW. No team in CFB was going to defeat that Ohio State team we saw in the Rose Bowl. Obviously. the approach Dan and his friends took during the long waiting period did not work. DUH! It's speculation but if the Buckeyes tripped to the Rose Bowl with its final game being the Michigan upset would we have seen yesterday's tOSU team that played a HOME game vs. Tennessee and got its Mojo back? CFB needs a Playoff and not a bowl extravaganza. When 3 of the top 4 seeds (possibly 4 of 4) open away from home and lose, something is wrong with the formatting including the top 4 seeds not having a home game with its fans forced to travel all over the country if their team advances. That's another DUH! It's one thing for the Chiefs and the 49ers to have a Bye week and then play at home up to the champ game and for college-aged players to sit out over a month and then play away from home. Professionals with a one-week break do not forget how to block and tackle. College players with close to a month off on the other hand? ASU had the ball for two-thirds of the first half vs. Texas but could not score points. The will was there but not the efficiency before the rust wore off. College football has sold the FBS to a media company and given equal voting power to Notre Dame and the G5. The obvious fixes to the format are not likely to be realized so long as ESPN is calling the shots and 'owns' the CFB postseason, through 2031-32. Hats Off to Ohio State, the better team on 1/1/25. Come 8/30/25 and the season-opening game against an opponent that is odds on to remain undefeated, Montana State, some of the stink from the smell of bad roses will remain but FANATICS will be ready to move forward with the 2025 season.😎 Thanks, David. It's not easy to have to write the day-after obituary. 😒
  16. WA$TE? Come on, Man! (Referring to the post responded to.) If nothing else, OBD held the nation's attention in the preseason through the B1G champ game. You saw two coaches today, one 34 years old and one 38 years old, being asked to do what no CFB coach has been asked to do. Sit on it for close to 30 days while your opponent plays a game in the interim and then has more than a week to prepare for its next game. Ohio State is not that much better roster-wise, coaching-wise, etc. than OBD. tOSU not only got to shake off the stuff from the Michigan loss but did it against a team that SEC-Centric folks (ESPN 🤪) thought would put up a fight if not win. tOSU got its Mojo back while OBD was on the sidelines. ASU sat back for close to a month got punched in the mouth early and had a shot to set the standard for the 12-team PO comeback improbable victory. NFL teams miss 1 week of action. Then, the two teams with a Bye play the remaining two lowest-ranked teams. Being a No. 1 and the 2nd seed means something. HATS OFF TO OHIO STATE. 1-1 this season in the battle of the Os. OBD was pasted and plastered in the Rose Bowl but there will be many games down the road between these two teams and Dan will learn from this and at least by 2026-27 if not sooner, the PO format will not be this fracked up. GO DUCKS! Take the 'BOB' Out Of The Montana State Bobcats! Preview: Monday 1/6 FCS Champ Game - 4 Pacific ESPN - Bobcats vs. North Dakota State. Rob, about Portland State? 😧
  17. All Righty Then! Pros can snooze for 14 days and be ready to play ball. College guys, 30+? ASU after an early no-show could have won the game. The Ducks? Plucked early on to the point where only a zealot (like me) after the half thought there would be a chance. Oregon looked more like Boiler Makers than High Flying Ducks. No offense to tOSU, but the Buckeyes were a team coming off a disaster, redeemed by an SEC mugging, and heading to the Left Coast with confidence and revenge in mind. Oregon lost the INTERIM. No way the Buckeyes players are that much better than our guys on the Ducks roster but with a game in hand tOSU was ready to play. Oregon, DUH, was not. Oregon on its game would have defeated Texas in Dallas and moved on to Atlanta but that was yesterday ... GO Buckeyes and Nits, let's have an all-B1G Final! As we said in Boston for many decades: WAIT Till Next Year! While enjoying one heck of a year!
  18. GO DUCKS! DESTROY THE BUCKS! 4-1 vs. the SEC, so far, speaks for itself. 😎👍👍👍👍 There was no way 9-3 Illinois, with two of its losses on the road vs. PO Penn State and OREGON, should not have been ranked behind three three-loss SEC teams. Bielema schooled the Baby Beamer. 🤓
  19. 50% of the semifinals is B1G! Hats off to Penn State. BLAST BRUTUS!
  20. PO's VIP per Yardbarker The most important people in CFP quarterfinals WWW.YARDBARKER.COM Snoozefests plagued the first round of the College Football Playoff but ultimately weeded out the pretenders for the national title. RUIN RYAN'S DAY!
  21. Thank you, Darren. Record for the legit PO trophy contenders to date, vs. the Committee's final Top 25. Georgia - 3-2 - Conference Champion/ Ohio State - 3-1 plus a loss to Michigan./ Notre Dame - 2-0 with a G5 loss / Penn State - 1-2/ Texas - 1-2. OBD - 4-0 - Conference Champion - Wins vs. No. 4 Penn State, No. 6 Ohio State, No. 9 Boise State, and No. 20 Illinois. If OREGON played in the SEC, finished 13-0, 4-0 vs. the Top 25, and was the SEC Conference Champion ranked No. 1 by the Committee, would most of the nation conclude there are no exceptional teams this season? "But you would not be undefeated in the SEC!" I know Oregon would not have 4 wins over the Top 25 with Texas' lousy schedule but give OBD this schedule, including Georgia in Autzen, and 13-0 is doable. OBD will have to go 16-0, win the Natty, and match a record that Yale posted in 1894! (OBD will not match this feat - Yale 465 points/ Opponents 13 points 😇 WOW! I believe that THIS is untouchable.) And then? There will still be naysayers claiming that the 16-0 record with a National Championship isn't legit because - Fill In The Blanks. To Hades with all of the naysayers! There will not be an asterisk in the record books. 😎 BLAST BRUTUS! CHOP CHIPPER! DESTROY WILL'S WILL, + MAKE IT A TERRIBLE, HORRIBLE, NO GOOD, VERY BAD DAY FOR WITTLE RYAN! 😩
  22. GREAT POST, GP! Thank You! According to the CFB PO site, ACC referees will call tomorrow's game. According to ACC fans, their refs are consistently inconsistent. Of course, no fan group believes its refs are any good. BUST THE NUTS!
  23. Winner - OBD Score - 41 - 31 TOs - 2 Sacks by Ducks - 2 OBD Passing Yards - 321 BASH BRUTUS!
  24. The Hawkeyes did not help the cause today. Lost to Mizzou in a game Iowa should have won.
