  5. Matt Hayes should move into the 21st century. CFB is no longer an after-school sport played on Saturday afternoon in the sunshine. Hayes and other writers, like Stewart Mandel, have benefited from CFB being a big business. Yet, they want the good old days? Clemson and FSU won, got the revenue share model they wanted, along with a decreasing exit fee. If TOSU is Rome, is the ACC Carthage? I get the populist one-size-fits-all argument, but it is not grounded in any business model. In what capitalist enterprise does an entity that invests more money in its product and receives a better return than those that invest less agree to split its share equally with less successful competitors? Where and when this model has been tried out, entire economies have failed. This is the same faux outrage thrown at Tony Petitti for wanting a committee that does its business in the dark to disappear in favor of automatic qualifiers. Since the inception of the BCS, the model Petitti desires mirrors the on-field results. 'Facts are stubborn things.' John Adams
  6. Ohio State is asking for a conference revenue share model that the ACC, for the most part, has adopted. Under Eat What You Kill, keep your earned postseason winnings, and Eyes on the Prize, more money for teams with the most-watched games, OBD like TOSU would benefit. The five B1G teams with Blue Chip Football rosters, OBD, TOSU, Michigan, Penn State, and USC, would benefit. I get TOSU wanting more revenue than Rutgers and Purdue. With direct Revenue Sharing post-House, revenue is more important than ever. And NIL is not going away. To think that bottom-feeder P4 programs will improve with equal revenue shares is a pipe dream. TOSU's suggested revenue format is happening in the ACC and will happen, IMO, in the Power 2 with the next media deals if not before. CFB is a B1G, Big Business. Teams investing more money, that demand an unequal revenue share, and improved ROI make absolute business sense. A Football Super Conference is coming, and likely sooner than we think.

  8. The only bad thing about discussing Week 3 games? It's not the weak Big Ten schedule; it's come Sunday, the regular season will be 25% over. The good thing is that heading into Week 4, with 75% of the regular season to play, OBD and USC are odds on to be 1-0 and in B1G 1st place. Friday, 9/12 - The B1G weekend kicks off with two Friday night appetizers. 2-0 No. 22 Indiana vs. Indiana State - If this were basketball and Larry Bird hadn't left the Sycamores building, State might have a chance. But that was yesterday and ... 3:30 Big Ten Network (BTN) 0-2 UCLA -15.5 vs. New Mexico - It's been frosty so far for Coach Foster, Nico, and the Bruins. The most intriguing wager - Over/Under 20,000 'fans' in the Rose Bowl. +5.5 Colorado and Coach Prime in East Coast Prime Time at Houston. 4:30 PAC time on ESPN. Saturday, 9/13 - The B1G conference season kicks off with: Our 2-0 No. 4 Beloved Ducks -27.5 at 1-1 Northwestern - Week 2 Flashback - 69 points vs. the Groveling Gundy's were the most points scored by Oregon against a Power opponent ever. The most points given up by a Mike Gundy-coached team, and the most points surrendered by the Cowboys since Oklahoma achieved statehood in 1907. 😍 Evanston: Amber to Bright Red Scoreboard Alert! Dante's 7th Circle of Hades is coming to your Campus! Prepare for Moore and Moore points to be scored. 9 AM Fox 2-0 No. 30 USC -21 at Purdue - Boilermakers coach Barry Odom is the first Purdue new hire HC to be 2-0 since Cleo A. O'Donnell in 1916. To date, the Trojans are the highest scoring team in the USA. This is the first meeting since 1998 when some guy named Drew Brees played QB for Purdue. USC won 27-17. 3:30 CBS - On his last broadcast lap, former Purdue QB Gary Danielson will be in the booth. Two final 2025 B1G P4 vs. P4 out-of-conference games (OOC). USC at Notre Dame on 10/18/25 will be the only remaining B1G OOC game to be played. (The last game in the series?) B1G Game with B1G Tradition Impact - Iowa vs. UMass - 4:30 PM BTN - It shouldn't take more than a minute for Kirk Ferentz's Iowa Hawkeyes to assert control over the UMass Minutemen on the way to Kirk's victory 206, the most games won by a Big Ten head coach. Move over, Woody! Last Saturday, UMass was upset at home by Bryant University. Take note, Mike Gundy! Bryant's football budget requires the head coach, the only coach on staff, to drive a circa-1960s Flower-Child decorated VW van loaded with the equipment, to road games. This duty becomes more noxious as the season progresses; Bryant doesn't have the money to wash unis before the season ends. 😧 Upon arrival, the coach hopes that at least 11 of the Bulldogs' 20-man roster, who have to hitchhike to away games, will show up before kickoff. Nevertheless, it would be wise to fade the -35.5 Hawkeyes; the Kinnock Stadium scoreboard isn't programmed to go above 20 points. 😁 2-0 Wisconsin +20.5 at 1-1 No. 19 Alabama - Line moved up from the Badgers +16.5. In 247 Sports Composite Roster Rankings, Bama is 2nd behind No. 1 Georgia. Bama was embarrassed in Tallahassee by FSU, and I think The Tide could Roll the Badgers. However, Wisconsin, with the 23rd-best roster ranking, will hold up and at least cover the spread. Maybe? This is the third of three B1G vs SEC 2025 OOC games, with the record at 1-1. Noon ABC 2-0 Minnesota at 2-0 Cal - Both teams have new starting QBs. Cal QB J-K Sagapolutele had a cup of coffee with the Ducks this spring before 'returning' to Cal. Sap may have the goods to save Coach Justin Wilcox's job. RS Freshman, and 3-star recruit out of Fayetteville, Arkansas, Drake Lindsey, is the new starter for the Gophers and has played well in his first two starts on the Golden Gophers' home field. This is a step up in competition for both teams, with Minnesota a slight favorite at -2.5. 7:30 PM ESPN The Rest of the (not so) B1G Week 3 games - 9 AM - No. 23 Michigan vs. Central Michigan BTN - Are marquee OOC games worth it? Michigan lost at Oklahoma. In the 21st century, Oklahoma is No. 1 in home game winning percentage. Michigan was not blown out in Norman but dropped in the AP Poll from No. 15 to No. 23. Until we see it in action, as far as we're allowed to see it, fans should be skeptical about a new playoff metric that will supposedly replace subjectivity with a 'precise calculation of schedule strength,' right? 🤪 Houston Christian at No. 35 Nebraska - FS1, Towson at Maryland - Peacock. 12:30 PM - No. 2 Penn State vs. Villanova, Michigan State vs. Youngstown State, BTN. 4 PM No.1 Ohio State vs. Ohio U. BTN, Western Michigan at No. 9 Illinois FSI Games with Playoff Impact - 9 AM No. 12 Clemson at Georgia Tech, ESPN 12:30 PM - No. 6 Georgia at No. 15 Tennessee, ABC 1:30 PM - No. 18 USF at No. 5 Miami, CW 4:30 PM - Florida at No. 3 LSU, ABC / No. 16 Texas A&M at No.8 Notre Dame, NBC Waste and Paste the Wildcats!
  9. Come on Back 30! Mike West, please post whenever your schedule allows. Are the Dog and DiNardo brothers from a different mother? The nose knows.
  10. KK, this is the perfect schedule for a team returning 4 starters and breaking in a new QB. Hopefully, OBD parlays this into a deep PO run and perhaps ... 😍
  11. The B1G got outFoxed. 🤬 Petitti is reviewing the schedule for all sports. One way to make football travel more equitable going in both directions (Michigan State at SC in Week 4 will finish around 2:30 AM Eastern😧 ) is for all four Left Coast teams to have three permanent Left Coast permanent opponents. OBD plays UCLA, SC, and UW every season. It would take longer to rotate trough the other B1G teams, but that's no Big Deal except perhaps for Fox and friends. How about a Super Conference where the B1G and SEC and a few select invitees own, market, and broadcast their own inventory? Former TV exec Tony Petitti needs no help selling the product directly to advertisers, and/or streaming the inventory on the Super Conference Network. In Week 2 as well as in Week 1, the B1G and SEC games were eight of the ten most-watched games.

  16. Would Moore of Moore to Moore this Saturday work for you? Northwestern is on the verge of entering Dante's Seventh Circle. 😁 Waste the Wildcats!
  17. I'm with you, friend Solar, but Hubris is a nasty Witch.🙈☠️🙃 Waste the Wildcats!
  18. Go Dawgs. SEC starts to separate on Saturday after Kentucky almost took down Kiffin back-to-back. Vandy at South Carolina should be a very interesting game. And down the road for Georgia lies Georgia Tech, a team that could Wreck Clemson's season on Saturday. GO Dawgs!
  19. - 27.5 / O/U Vegas Insider Consensus 48.5 They're not playing in Wrigley, but Oregon pitches a shutout, +750 NW's best RB is out for the rest of the season. NW Preston Stone to date - 4 picks, 3 TDs. Sorry about last Saturday, my friend. It turned out to be a Trap with USF coach Alex Golesh turning Billy Napier into Gator Goulash. A spitty effort in the Swamp. 🤬
  20. What's the score? You can't see the scoreboard? Yeah, I can see it, but it's on fire! What if I were to tell you that your team scored 69 points on Saturday and finished third in the B1G in most points scored? A dozen Big Ten teams scored 40 points or more. And seven B1G players accounted for 4 TDs or more? Holy Woody Hayes! Except in Iowa City, this is not your Grand Dad's three yards and a cloud of dust Big Ten. Minnesota lights off fireworks every time the Gophers score. This popped up on the Gophers scoreboard early in the 4th period: "We Ran Out of Fireworks - Ope, Sorry!" ('Ope' is a local dialect for Oops. See the movie, Fargo.) 70 points - Ohio State and UW Mighty Oregon 69 points/ Nebraska 68/ Minnesota 66/ USC 59/ Indiana 56/ Rutgers 45/ Illinois 45/ Northwestern 42/ Wisconsin 42/ Michigan State 42. B1G Week 2 - 15-3 - 2-0 vs. the ACC. 1-1 vs. the B12. 0-1 vs. the SEC. No. 9 Illinois 45 - Duke 19. Give Me 5! Five Blue Devil turnovers keyed the Battling Bielema's win. No. 22 Indiana 56 - Kennesaw State 9 - Both of the Hoosiers' QBs finished above the Mendoza Line. Fernando - 3 TD passes. Alberto - 1 TD pass. Iowa 13 - No. 14 Iowa State 16. QB Gronowski threw for 83 yards, almost the length of a football field! No. 14 Iowa State won its first Cy-Hawk game on its home field since 2011. This was the sixth time in the last seven Cy-Hawk games that neither team scored 20 or more points. Maryland 20 - Northern Illinois 9 - Close to home in DC, Terps true frosh QB Malik Washington beats 2024 Notre Dame nemesis Northern Illinois. No. 23 Michigan 13 - No. 13 Oklahoma 24 - Oklahoma puts a stamp on the best home record, to date, in the 21st century. Coach Brent Venables' school's 18-year-old QB Bryce Underwood and (Kirk Ferentz in-waiting?) Sherrone Moore. Michigan State 42 - Boston College 40 - 2 OTs. QB Aiden Chiles was clutch, not choke. Minnesota 66 - NW Wherever 0 - Mother Nature shows that she has a heart. Her arrival led to an early end of a 'We're Out of Fireworks ' beatdown. Week 3 sees the Gophers in a Golden State showdown vs. the Cal Sags, er, Golden Bears. No. 35 Nebraska 68 - Akron 0 - Joe Moorhead needs this? Week 3 sees Houston Christian coming to Lincoln. The Cornhuskers volunteered to not play Tennessee. Northwestern 42 - W. Illinois 7 - Preston Stone rebounds from throwing 4 picks against Tulane to throw 3 TDs against the Leathernecks. If these Leathernecks were the USMC, we'd all be speaking Mandarin. 🤪 No. 1 Ohio State 70 - Grambling State 0 - The battle between Grambling's Best Band in the Land and Ohio State's Best Damn Band in the Land was a toss-up, with the tiebreaker favoring Grambling for the Best Band without the Blasphemy 🤬 No. 4 😍 Oregon 69 - Oklahoma State 3 You don't tug on Superman's Cape; you don't Spit into the Wind; and you most certainly do not (Cow) Poke Danno! 39 wins in a row when the Ducks score first. No. 2 Penn State 37 - FIU 0 - Next up on the Nits OOC Beatdown Cupcake Bakery Tour, Villanova. And then you need a nap? Purdue 34 - Southern Illinois 17 - Not only has new coach Barry Odom doubled the 2024-win total, but he's also the first first-year Boilermaker coach to match Cleo O'Donnell's 2-0 record. Cleo got the gig in 1916. Rutgers 45 - Miami (Not Mari) OH-OH 17. To date, the Greek Rifle QB is firing on all cylinders. But the D? Better call the Sopranos! UCLA 23 - G6 UNLV 30 - What happens in Vegas stays in Vegas? Holy Hankie! Not according to the refs who called 14 penalties on the Bruins and 13 on the Runnin' Rebels. It looks like Nico is being paid far too many Nickels. And Foster's boys aren't frosty. 😧 https://www.cbssports.com/college-football/news/deshaun-foster-nico-iamaleava-under-microscope-after-0-2-start-why-ucla-coaching-change-could-be-on-horizon/?ftag=SNL-04-10aaa0b&ET_CID=473176&ET_RID=52482716 No. 30 USC 59 - Georgia Southern 20. Lincoln Riley defeats Clay Helton and closes in on matching Clay's winning percentage at SC. Washington 70 - UC Davis 0 - UC Davis, I C a Donut Hole. RB Jonah Coleman has back-to-back excellent games, 5 TDs scored on Saturday, but it happened Way After Dark. A needless Week 3 bye before heading to Pullman for an Apple chomping and then home to play Ohio State, and trying to keep Judd Fisch's no-loss streak in Seattle streak alive. Wisconsin 42 - Somewhere in Tennessee State 10 - I don't think +16.5 is enough points to find a cover against a post-Seminoles Tsunami-like Rolling Tide. Don't miss the wake-up call and turn Wildcats into Mildcats!

  23. How about the No. 4 seed in the latest AP Poll mock-PO? A field that would not thrill Greg Sankey. 🤬 Rose Bowl - No. 1 Ohio State vs. 9 Illinois at 8 Notre Dame Cotton Bowl - No. 4 OBD vs. 12 USF at 5 Miami 😁(1st round would be a repeat of this Saturday's game.) Orange Bowl - No. 2 Penn State vs. 11 Iowa State at 6 Georgia Sugar Bowl - No. 3 LSU vs. 10. FSU at 7 Texas First two out - South Carolina and Clemson. 4 B1G - 3 SEC. You think Greg Sankey might go back to supporting the AQ model?
  24. Highest rated receiver ever signed by OBD. Preseason All-Frosh all over college football sites. So, I think not. It's a pleasure to watch him play.
  25. Because and as well noted above, it's a very weak slate of Week 3 B1G games. The headliner is 2-0 Wisconsin at 1-1 No. 19 Alabama - 9 AM on ABC. College GameDay will be in Knoxville for No. 6 2-0 Georgia at 2-0 No. 15 Tennessee. ABC 12:30. The only other B1G P4 vs P4 sees 2-0 No. 30 USC at 2-0 Purdue (double the wins from 2024!) 12:30 CBS and 2-0 Minnesota at 2-0 Cal 7:30 ESPN. I thought Big Noon might have been in Iowa City to watch the Hawkeyes defeat UMass for Ferentz's 207th win and the record. But OBD, Penn State, and Indiana all play at Iowa later in the season. I expect USC at Illinois in Week 5 will be a Big Noon game. NW's temporary stadium is high school-sized at 12,000 capacity, but in a beautiful setting on the shore of Lake Michigan.
