  1. I think we are seeing guys getting use to a new group of coaches. It also seems our D-line isn't all it's cracked up to be. I heard it described as our guys weigh as much as their guys, but their guys carry their weight with speed and force. Ours not so much. Maybe the offseason training wasn't all what it should have been, time will tell.
  2. If he doesn't extend his arm it isn't a late hit, just a continuation of momentum. Once he extends his arm and elbow it became a late hit. Agree it could have gone either way, but he needs to learn how to make it look better. Agree that will get called all day long in the Pac-10 and it was more surprising to see in the SEC.
  3. Last season is water under the bridge. This season we have little information to form a strong opinion, is my take. We can have strong emotional reactions, but we don't know much about Dan Lanning, nor this team.
  4. Remember we have one data point to establish a whole lot of opinions off of. Probably the biggest question is just how good is Georgia, and we don't actually know. If they struggle at all over the next few weeks of cream puffs we should have some legitimate concerns. They also could cruise to the SEC championship game and then win it all. Just how much of this was a first game, road game fiasco, we don't know. If we dismantle EWU, then we may want to pause on the whole end of the world talk. The biggest take I have is the first game of the season is the, least important game of the season. You build as the season progresses and finish strong. There is still a good chance that will occur. What we will see over the next few weeks is just how resilient this Duck team is. That is probably the most important data point, and one we will have to wait on. Love my Ducks, proud of my Ducks, Duck Strong, Go Ducks!
  5. You don't put your kid in the drivers seat when the car is tumbling down the ravine and expect him learn any valuable lessons. I do think it will be telling who the choice is next week when we aren't on the road, or playing arguably one of the best teams in the nation. Does Dan Lanning continue to try resurrect Bo's career, or will we see the start of anothers journey as our programs leader with the ball? That will be a compelling storyline.
  6. Success is a journey, not a destination. I look forward to the continued journey, and glad I was no where near a tv yesterday. Dan Lanning is our coach and we are on his path to success. He has my support, 100%!
  7. Amazing line, and may be something for the Lanning staff to become vigilant about going forward.
  8. My problem is I am buying too many shoes, a camper I didn't need, sign up for another brokerage account, started taking nalozone, don't even know what it is, joined a health club I will never visit, and will have to stop frequenting this site because the ads are so effective. I do hope you are more than paying the bills. You deserve it! The only real problem I have is sometimes I am not sure if the ads are just something funny a member has posted or an ad, not a real problem.
  9. Whatever it is the next one will be even better! My prediction two qb's run out, and then one runs off the field just to keep everyone guessing until the last second. I would also like to see some space made for Seven, then dump it off to him, just to put some speed, and quickness into the game on the first play. He then goes to the house with outstanding blocking by the receivers, you asked.
  10. My immediate reaction to the title, before I read the article, was 'of course.' After reading it I am fired up, awesome article, to again see the Ducks play to win. Pedal to the metal, and step on it while not letting up. I want to see opposing teams call time out just to slow us down, again. I want to see opposing teams and fans say, what just happened, again. I want to see the defense back on the field fast because we scored so quick, and then again, because the defense shut them down or caused a turnover. I WANT TO SEE MY DUCKS AGAIN!!!!!!!!!!
  11. And Ryan Walk should be nominated for the Burlsworth Trophy again this year. One of the most prestigious awards no one knows about. He and Stetson should be competing again for the award.
  12. I think we all look forward to seeing just how good these young guys are. Donte put up some crazy stats while coming off the bench in a limited role, but now we will see what he can do with all new leadership. The guy many want to see break out is Cam McCormick, who may have a son on the team, not sure. He has been on the team forever, made some great catches, but never lasted a whole season. Good luck to all your dawgs, may each side have an injury free game!
  13. Turnovers and who blinks first. This Georgia team won it all last year and never backed down, but that leadership may be gone. The question is what kind of leadership is on each side of the ball? From the sideline we don't know what Oregon will bring, but more importantly we don't know what kind of leadership will be on the field. It is obvious Georgia had the kind of talent teams need and wanted on the field, last year. I would say this extended to the kind of mentality and culture one wants. The question is will this next group have the same mentality or do they get where that edge came from. Sometimes the next generation of talent is more on cruise control, they don't get what it took for the last group. I think the one guy who showed that mentality game after game for Oregon was Noah. Nobody took losses harder, or went after wins like that guy. Can his mindset extend to the rest of the defense. Who on offense is going to have that strength of character to carry everyone. What it comes down to is which team has the most resilient attitude on the field. The turnovers we can quantify, but the mental strength, and wil,l which can't be quantified, but will play a huge role come Saturday. That is actually the most exciting thing to see, because that is what Dan Lanning is going to be trying to instill on this group of individuals. Can he foster that residence and strengths Georgia had and may have again.
  14. Turnover ratio will be key. If you are going to win on the road you have to take the air out of the opposing teams tires. The best way to do that is cause turnovers, and protect the ball. Oh yea and those explosion plays will demoralize the dawgs, Go Ducks! If the ball doesn't bounce our way, then play a clean, smart, aggressive game, and give the dawgs all you got!
  15. I won't speak for anyone but myself, I hate them because they are the entitled rich. Their prestige doesn't hold water with me, I don't see the cache of an sc education. And if we really want to look at success on the football field Princeton, and Yale have more than twice the national championships and much more prestige. I hate sc because they are mostly entitled buffoons. I hope I was clear on that one.
  16. Pretty easy to blend in with a bunch of losers, sorry I couldn't help myself.
  17. 8 years ago Oregon looked like an exciting challenger on the national stage. Since then we have been recruiting on the fumes of those days. I completely agree this is an opportunity to begin building the look of another dominate looking program. A big win here, and there, isn't what Oregon needs. Many programs do that, and we don't want to be one of those. Oregon needs to be exciting again, relevant in the title hunt again. We can't win one big one, then lose to lesser talent, or not build as the season goes on. The flashy uniforms and facilities are still the shiny trinket everyone wants to see. That isn't going to sustain an elite program. We need an offense and a defense which makes others worry. This game is the first opportunity to say we are back, with an offense, defense and special teams, along with execution, discipline. What is the Lanning team going to look like. Do we fit into the elite class, first test, and then we have to keep proving it.
  18. Who knows, but a blowout, or sound defeat would only be truly tough to swallow for one team. There is a huge upside for Oregon, but the dawgs need a strong showing or the national champs will be questioned going forward. I actually have no fear of a defeat, it would provide plenty of room for the growth mindset Lanning is trying to instill. Bring on the game and whatever outcome that happens!
  19. I'll be happy if the offense breaks out! Where, to the outside and down the field. Something like this, again
  20. Bo might be all that and more, but maybe Ty is too. I hope we see all three of our qb's excel and even Ashford become all he can be. I don't think the question is who is the best, the question will be how good is our best. That is the question I have been wondering for years now! Are we, again, an elite qb making program!
  21. Last season Nakobe Dean pulled off winning the double. After winning the high school Butkus Award he then went on to win the college Butkus Award. The year after Nakobe Dean won the high school Butkus Justin Flowe won it. We now have, arguably, the front runner to win the college Butkus award in Noah Sewell. Could Justin actually pull off what Nakobe Dean did, or will Noah win it? It is exciting to think we have two guys who could win the award for the top LB in the country lining up to play for us this coming Saturday. What will it take for either to win? The next award we need to see the program have somebody in the hunt for is the Biletnikoff award. Even our little brother up north has had a players win this, Mike Haas and Brandin Cooks, but we just haven't had the talent at reciever to be in the conversation, even though we have had elite qb's. I have never been a fan of watching the recruiting rankings too closely, but seeing our players mentioned as elite once they get on campus does fire me up. The National Title is the end goal, but programs also need to have talent at these positions. I look forward to seeing these awards and more in our programs near future, along with the Natty.
  22. The only question is who is going to be throwing and who is going to do the catching. I look forward to filling in the blanks, actually all the blanks.
  23. Good for him, wish him well. I also hope Robby Ashford does well too. I wonder if he would have been the back-up qb like he is at Auburn? Jayson Jones is listed as their starting NT.
  24. Great comparison, Brooks wasn't a Duck, actually a Beaver, but he became a Duck and we stuck with the guy. We even named our field after the guy and he had a losing record along with leaving the team for the NFL. We embraced his personality, and identified with his integrity. I feel the same with Lanning, his disposition, and persona fits into the mold we appreciate at Oregon. He also is showing an incredible ability to manage student athletes and recruit. Like Brooks he is a defense guy, but he seems to know a good offense through his defensive knowledge. I can't see Lanning pulling a Helfrich, but that is about the only thing I could see turning the fanbase on him. He is all Oregon at this point, and we haven't even played a game. I do wonder if he can match or better Helfrich's 3 year record. It would be even more amazing to see him better CK's 3 or 4 year record. I wonder if that will be what it takes to make him one of the greatest at the 3 year mark?
  25. I have to ask this because I am not sure he has taken a step yet that hasn't been embraced, or at least garnered accepting curiosity. Even bringing in, yet again, another qb transfer has been looked upon as a brilliant move. We may want to know who is going start, but we feel encouraged we again have a coach who can develop the most important position. He certainly can recruit the position, bringing in the most highly rated qb as a commitment. So even if there is some failure at qb this year, all will be forgiven, and the future is bright. Surprisingly he brought in dawg coaches and a player and it was looked upon as brilliant. I mean Brooks was a beaver, but dawgs on our sidelines! Again Lanning's moves were looked upon as solid and courageous, bringing dawgs into the fold, really. Wow this guy has a way with us Duck fans. I do think he is much like Helfrich, looked up as one of us now. It will take a complete melt-down, another Alamo moment to change how we look at Mr. Lanning. I think Dan Lanning can fail next Saturday, and a few more times, and he will still be our coach, he just has us by our heart and souls at this point.
