I thought of that game often. Some of the Beavers pass defense was amazing. But there were high winds, so it's tough to compare. I'm no defense expert, but I think the Duck secondary is good enough abd fast enough to go man to man. Addison is very fast. It seems the Ducks screw up zone coverage a lot, but once they are zeroed in on a WR they look pretty good to me.

I'm reading numerous comments about specific plays. That tells me there were numerous issues that resulted in the loss, not just one key play or coaching decision. Here are a few: - The failed red zone score due to a fumble - due to a rushed snap, due to some formation that made no sense. - The failed onside kick resulting in a FG. - Having Lewis attempt a FG way beyond his range instead of having Nix throw in to the endzone before halftime. - The obviously porous defense. - Running every down on the drive from the 1 yard line to run down the clock instead of stepping on the gas to score. - Should have taken Forsyth out on thae long drive. He was obviously gassed. - Going for it late in the game instead of calling a timeout to allow Nix to come in on 4th or to punt giving away another 3 pts.

Tonight was the bend and keep bending D. Very difficult to watch. But Kudos to Penix. Even when pressured he threw a 70 yard TD.

I think the Ducks are playing better when not hurrying up on offense. The rush is getting it done. They look more composed then. Coach DeBoar is the most under composed FBS Coach I've seen this year. He looks really nervous. Fundamental football can beat the Pups. No need to out trick them.

Better said than I have tried in the past. Great defenses don't bend. Don't bend and don't break. Bend but don't break gets the defense gassed, especially if the offense goes 3 and out.

Update: Camden is now #2 in the FBS for PATs. I don't remember seeing one kick that wasn't very close to being right down the middle.

I believe the toughest opponent Oregon faces in the Pac-12 is themselves. They have shown they can lose focus. Too many 4th downs against low ranking defenses for my taste. The comeback on the Palouse tells me they can rise to the occasion. They need to against UW, Utah and OSU, end to end.
