  1. If we’re in a position to rest starters in any of our remaining games, DL would be smart to do it. Not only is the committee sophisticated enough to understand garbage time, but they could see it as a flex move. And obviously, it puts OBD in the best position to win the next game. The only people who would be convinced by stat-padding are the SEC and B1G pundits who just look at the final scores.
  2. DL from yesterday’s presser: “We change quite a bit, you know, each week, and those guys have done a good job of executing whatever we've asked them to do with good talent.” This has been so impressive and fun to watch. The coaches have the schemes and the players have the smarts and talent to execute fresh strategies every week. This is the exact opposite of Mari-no-O, who was so predictable that he deserved to be booed.
  3. You aren’t wrong. But the 10 “bailers” were asleep at the wheel. As someone who has gone through a divorce, I appreciate “cutting our losses” and extricating ourselves gracefully from the relationship.
  4. I understand why we hate Canzano and his framing of the story, but the PAC-2 aren’t the villains here. The PAC-2 are the only remaining voting members of the league. The other schools lost their voting rights as soon as they declared they were leaving. End of story. The PAC-2 have the contractual authority to do whatever they want with the league’s assets. This isn’t stealing—it’s the result of a contract that everyone agreed to. If the other 10 members wanted to have a say in the remaining assets, they should have changed the rules before bailing. It’s not the PAC-2’s fault if the other schools didn’t understand the consequences. The PAC-2’s assets are a parting gift. As an aside, my grandfather was once the owner of the largest construction company in Canada. When he went to retire, he sold his company to one of his board members. But before the sale went through, the board member held a vote to make my grandfather’s shares worthless. It worked. My grandfather lost everything. As depressing as it may seem, dem’s da rulez.
  5. This is such a classic U$C move. They offer a big-time DC who they think beat them the worst over the last 2 years. And they think that bc they are U$C, that big-time DC would obviously make a lateral move for fame and money bc all anyone cares about is fame and money, right? I bet a million bucks they offer ND’s DC when Scalley declines. There is no creativity. There’s no identity. Just laziness. DL has hired a bunch of “unknowns” who are working out splendidly.
  6. Actually, it was Daniels who couldn’t cut it in the Pac and left for the SEC.
  7. I am partial to the “Uncivil War” because it’s a more accurate adjective.
  8. All eyes in FBS will be on Friday’s Uncivil War and then on the P12 championship. Bo will have all the stage he needs to show voters his dominance. The “Southern Vote” will have every reason to get on the Alabama boy’s hype train. All Bo has to do is the same thing he’s been doing week in and week out this season. And… throwback to Mariota’s final Civil War, which required his last minute heroics to beat Sean Mannion’s Beavs in order to make it to the P12 championship to avenge our only loss, to AZ. Mariota earned the Heisman and a CFP invite that year, and OBD look waaaaaaay more dominant this year.
  9. . He’ll just have to get the record against FSU in the Rose Bowl instead.
  10. You could get a similar idea by dividing by the number of snaps. You have to assume that every snap these Heisman hopefuls play is meaningful.
  11. My thoughts exactly. The ref who threw the flag was BEHIND TF, so all the ref saw was the defender falling down and assumed it was a PI. Terrible call.
  12. Can we just get an amen that we’re not doing divisions anymore?! As I mentioned in a previous thread, it would be UW vs AZ in the champ, and OBD would be SOL.
  13. As much as I was cheering for the Beavs, the game could not have turned out better for OBD.
  14. We can’t control our opponents. But we are thrashing the analytics even against inferior opponents. And is ASU actually inferior to Northern Tennessee?
  15. You love to see Chip beating Riley with authority.
  16. Ducks win 56 - 0 4 TOs 6 sacks 475 passing yards Hey, if Fresno State can hold the Devils scoreless, so can OBD.
  17. From Addicted to Quack: ”However, when examining their playtype defensive success rates, there’s a big spike in effectiveness at a certain play, which happens to be the most common rushing play in the Pac-12: simple inside zone. That’s because the best defensive players they have are the big tackles Fite and Mallory, and opposing lines just can’t move them when zone blocking, even with combos, and the light but aggressive linebackers can quickly knife in while the OL are occupied with those combo blocks and get TFLs.” Yep, it’s the one defensive play ASU is good at.
  18. This makes sense if you’re changing to a lower division. OBD can’t suddenly switch to FCS and win all the championships. It makes zero sense if you’re leveling up.
  19. Dilly is (a tiny bit) younger than Stein, and Dilly is obviously “ready” for an HC job after one year with OBD. If Stein gets an HC job next year, more power to him. I trust DL to evaluate and attract excellent coaches.
