Here’s hoping Oregon built in ways to get refunds on these NIL deals. -

@Charles Fischer - EXCELLENT article. Any concerns with OL position coach(es) at this point? Too soon to tell? -

Well done on all fronts: tickets AND eliminating Comcrap from your life! All I can say is FREEDOM!!

Join the "don't subscribe to Peacock" movement with us!! I'm not sure how many Oregon games will be on Peacock in future, but I can assure you that the number will only go up the more we all sign up for one-off games. This post is not to disparage anyone who does sign up. But, I think we hold more power than we realize. If fans, in unison, decided to skip the one--or few--game on Peacock, they'd get the message.

I'm with you @Solar!! I wouldn't even sign up and cancel. They don't deserve even my junk email address, LOL

Honestly, I have no idea. Seems like we'll only know with more games played / time. I'd be shocked if Oregon's elite strength/conditioning team didn't have them physically prepared to play a football game.

Gabriel Game-Plan: Ignore the Longer Passes?
cartm25 replied to FishDuck Article's topic in Our Beloved Ducks
Fair take and question. I think our WRs are just as talented as Oklahoma's were . . . at least that's what the analysts tell us, ha. Also, I thought it was Stein that said he wants to take ~8 shots downfield per game as part of his philosophy. I can't imagine Stein telling DG, "Look, if the deep guy is wide open ignore that if the underneath route is also open." My take is that this is a brand new offense for a 1-year rental QB and it's going to take time . . . hopefully not too much time. -
The OL issues are more alarming to me because of the duration of the problems. Generally there are occasional lapses throughout the game, but to be a clear problem for 4 quarters . . . yikes!

Gabriel Game-Plan: Ignore the Longer Passes?
cartm25 replied to FishDuck Article's topic in Our Beloved Ducks
I'm going to assume that the low-lying sun was in his eyes constantly, impeding his downfield vision. When I watched his Oklahoma tape, there was no shortage of bombs down the field, so it seems a bit of an aberration for him to miss the open, downfield WRs. I anticipated him throwing bombs in our offense . . . -
In my mind, Josh Pate is one of the most reasonable, level-headed sports talk guys out there. He’s been HIGH on the Ducks. Hear his take on the game:

Oregon Football: The Sky is Not Falling
cartm25 replied to FishDuck Article's topic in Our Beloved Ducks
Great article, Darren. I agree with you that the sky is not falling. Unfortunately, however, the examples you provided don't give me as much internal peace as I would hope . . . not that that's your responsibility As you pointed out, GA was ranked #1, and BSU was ranked #14 in 2009. I think any fair pre-game assessment would determine both BSU and GA of having a "good" to "excellent" chance to beat Oregon, respectively, and thus, would not create such consternation in the event of a close win or loss by the Ducks. The reason I'm so troubled by this game is that Idaho is an FCS team with a fraction of the talent. I've seen ugly wins against vastly inferior opponents in the Ducks past, but even those typically end up with a 2-3+ touchdown scoring differential with the Ducks scoring in the high 30s/40s This Idaho game is a bit hard to wrap my mind around. -
Oregon Football: The Sky is Not Falling

IMO, I prefer to view BSU as a P4 mega monster, rather than the alternative of making them appear like an inferior FCS opponent that Oregon should make quick work of . . . . . . Because that would describe the Idaho Vandals. And Idaho just gave the entire Duck Nation a scare worthy of the title "Monster". I vote for Oregon to view, prepare and get hyped to play for, every team as if they're the #1 team in the nation. -

What Will It Take To Make The Next Big Step?
cartm25 replied to Haywarduck's topic in Our Beloved Ducks
I’m at a bit of a loss. I’d like to seem some excitement, passion, and enthusiasm. Just watched USC vs LSU, and USC looks like a completely different team. But what stood out most was the palpable and visible enthusiasm they played with from start to finish. Don’t sleep on USC. To quote Jim Harbaugh, I’d like to see the Ducks play every second of every game with “an enthusiasm unknown to mankind.” -
Did Bo Nix Make Our Past O-lines Look Better Than They Really Were?

Great take—though it pains me to compliment MC. You knew the OL talent was legitimate with him. -
Very good take, thanks for sharing. Still a little jealous that other power teams that used the portal extensively managed to score 40+ points.

It’s a long season and the 12-team playoff allows room for in-year team development. Hype doesn’t = wins. Hype is hype, and nothing more. A temporary (or permanent) pause on producing “That Team Out West” videos is in order. The OL has me terrified. Sincere question: Is Jordan James the slowest RB1 Oregon has ever featured? I liked what I saw from the defense, but my gut is still upset about Idaho scoring 14. Are my expectations too high? I miss the days when Mari Cristbal could get any OLineman he wanted (I just puked in my mouth complimenting MC). The OL has to be such a cohesive unit that filling with transfer portal folks may be difficult to do long-term. Dillon Gabriel passed the eye test for me. He looks poised and in control back there. Too bad the OL let him down. The uniforms looked incredible even if the poor game play dulled the shine a bit. NOT a fan of the “behind the QB” camera angle for actual game viewing. Leave that angle for replays. During the game, I couldn't help but think that Oregon has never beaten the Boise State Broncos at football. Looked forward to seeing that streak end next week, but it may not be so certain.

What is YOUR Mario Cristobal Philosophy?
cartm25 replied to Desert Duck's topic in Our Beloved Ducks
My philosophy is: - Never spell his name with “o”s: Mari Cristbal - Always root against him and his team - Watch every MC post game press conference after an unthinkable loss and smile at his perma-scowl and his short, petty responses - Erase the word “physicality” from the dictionary since Mari Cristbal has rendered it meaningless. - Take a shower every time MC calls a time out before the first play of the 1st or 3rd quarter; it’s so wrong it makes me feel dirty. -

This is what made me start to dislike him. He blames everyone else, and then after all that, then says, “That’s on me as head coach.” (see the Least Favorite Cliche topic, LOL) -

Just saw it. I follow the 49ers, and after Brandon Aiyuk signed his massive contract, an article said: ”Aiyuk’s financial future is now secure.” The $12.5 million he earned over the last 4 years just wasn’t security enough . . .
