Personally I also disagree with the title - OBD is definitely top-tier elite now as we will be a top-10 or even top-5 team pretty much year after year. The challenge is winning that elusive Natty. So I would say we are not yet the best in CFB...☹️

Well, KC had absolutely nothing to gain or lose in that game. OBD did have the B1G Championship to win. It's nice to be a champion when you can get it. So I don't think we would ever want to purposedly lose a CCG, but the CFP needs to change and I think they will next year. Probably not messing with the bowl games, but I bet they will change the seeding matchups and the scheduling to reduce the rust.

Sorry, but I am beginning to doubt all this "insider" wisdom that some seem to have. The beatdown was simply a game that we (coaches and players) didn't prepare well for. WS didn't have the play calls to counter the fast scoring of the Buckeyes and couldn't adjust at HT. DL had looked brilliant all season planning for the 16 wins, until this game when Tez still ran out of bounds early to avoid hits and DG didn't run much at all. There needs to be a balance between avoiding injuries and making the big plays when we absolutely need it.

Let's hope Bo does a Mariota against Josh Allen. I still fondly remember that game in Autzen when Matriota-led OBD slaughtered Wyoming with Allen as QB. We sat near the end zone where Mariota flipped into to score a TD. Oh, the glory days!

It also shows how ridiculous it is to award the Heisman before bowl/PO games. I wonder where Hunter would land now after that embarrassing CU loss. This. It is hard to get full respect until we win it all, probably more than once. That's how big-time sport is. I am very excited that we are getting close yet again. It would be great if we win it all this year. But if not, there is always next year, as we will be in the PO every year. Fortunately I got a few more years than Uncle Phil, so I know for sure I will get to see OBD with the Natty in my life time!

Can't agree more on Evan Stewart, Mr. Fishduck! Our O coaches have really seemed blind to this talent that we have. Like I said, we need to run more vertical passes instead of lateral. That will be critical to stay with tOSU as they have 2-3 talented receivers and a long-bomb thrower. I hope our D plays as aggressive as the first match-up, but the O may have to carry the day again this time around.

I think Stein is good, but I do wish that he would call fewer lateral passes and more vertical passes. I know it depends on the match-up, but I was surprised to see that he didn't call more run plays against PSU in the 2nd half of the B1G CCG, when we had lots of success. Instead plays after plays of lateral passes went nowhere and kept the opposing team closer than they should've been... Hope he will truly out-coach Chip in the Rose Bowl!

I agree with Mr Fishduck. In the end of day, CFB is all about winning nowadays. We have to do whatever it takes to keep winning. The question always is "Is there a portal QB that's much better than what we already got in-house?" Not sure that answer is a resounding yes this year, yet. Should someone like Quinn Ewer jump into the portal, it will become much more interesting. Tough balance for the DL to strike, that's for sure.
