I hope you are right about that being a designed strategy. Although if that were indeed the case, shouldn't we have played the backups more, and kept DG out of harms way, especially since their D was playing dirty? And right after HT, shouldn't we have at least played hard for a couple of series and got some scores, after that pick-6, instead of being blanked for the entire quarter?

I wouldn't say that and certainly hope the team doesn't read this kind of articles. This is a classic trap game. MSU is much better than UCLA and they have a skillful coach that has a life-long grudge against us. My prediction is that we win by 2 scores and it will take all 4 quarters.

Yeah, I shook my head immediately too after that pick. I am sure it's much easier to be smart watching from my couch, but I am sure that's a teachable moment, like dropping the ball at/before crossing the goal line. Those are things that will be costly in close games against quality opponents.

The Offense's no show in 2nd half is indicative of an issue throughout this season and maybe in the last season as well - our seeming inability to adjust and motivate at half time. Sure, UCLA had one grudge-bearing former duck that was wreaking havoc on us, taking out Fergeson and intercepted a ball. So we just folded after that? That's unacceptable if we want to win the B1G or go beyond. The leaders of OBD team need to be mentally tougher! It's hard, but I say let's try to root for the dawgs until we face them. That's the best for OBD. Regardless we do need to get over that 3-loss hump resoundingly. I'd rather we beat them directly than watching them suffer at others' hands. It will make us feel much better if we cream the dawgs when they are highly ranked.

To be fair , I believe we dropped from 7 to 9 after beating BSU. We had dropped from 3 to 7 in the prior week, after barely beating the first potato. Go BSU from here on out, especially beating WSU at home. Down with the PIG-2!

My fingers are crossed for 1 loss in the remaining schedule, either to tOSU, or some sort of a letdown game that we unfortunately always have. The beatdown of rodents was definitely encouraging, but the trip to UCLA will tell us for sure if OBD has fixed the most glaring problems. Assuming we perform this week, 11-1 will be most likely.

I say let the rodents beg for mercy to end the series. I don't mind enjoying more OBD lopsided victories. What's wrong with scheduling them every (other) year, like we do against Portland State some years? It will be a nice tune-up game and morale booster. Only strike is playing in their tiny 30K+ stadium, but maybe $$$ will persuade them to come play at our big house instead.

Miami will be punished if they lose a game in their soft schedule, just like ND was. Knowing MariNo, he will find a way to give away a game or two later in the season by not kneeling or something brilliant, just in time to get them dropped out of the PO.

Further expansion of 6-pac will depend on TV contracts as I don't think they have more stolen $ left... Would any network pay enough to even provide as much as the 20ish Millon/school that caused the collapse? I highly doubt it. The market will definitely tell if they are just another G5.
