Agree that OBD still has many challenging games to win. All I was saying is that on paper they are all winnable because they simply are not as talented as tOSU. But we all know how it goes in CFB or any sport for that matter - real in-game effort and execution > on-paper talent.

Great analysis, Charles. I agree with everything except maybe the percentage of playbook that we still hold back. Against tOSU, OBD had to go all in and I think we did. DL even had to resort to the 12-men trick to win in the end. They are about the biggest and baddest team we will face all season, playoff included. I do hope that the coaches continue to tweak and come up with new ideas to sustain the long season and get us all the way. But let's start with rolling over the boiler makers as expected this Friday night!

DG got skills. The coaches just need to call plays to his strengths, like these long throws and QB runs. They also need to avoid calling plays that expose his weakness, namely height. So maybe no short throws near the goal line because it's harder to clear the tall D line players and can be challenging to see the whole field.

I have to think he is one main reason Utah isn't good this year. His stats were pretty meh and they don't have a decent backup. Whittingham is too loyal to Rising to see straight and plan for the future of the team. If Rising does come back for 8th season, Utah will be bad again because he won't last.

DL should follow Chip's lead and bench Holden like Blount. We did get LaMike out of that decision and still went to Rose Bowl, so I am sure someone else will step up to finish the season for Holden.

I think this is got to be the first time OBD game is on CBS during regular season, right? Same as NBC last Saturday. B1G is on every major network. Talk about the exposure! On the other hand, I guess it's a good thing the poor rodents got CW, where only a couple of hundred thousand viewers watch their pathetic performances. Actually I disagree. Without the timeout, we would have sacked their QB and ended the game there, right? So I guess it's a brilliant penalty since it worked in our favor. Quite a gamble, I would say. Yes, a close loss probably won't even cost us much. But we need to go into this game with a must-win mentality. Dare I say this - this team needs to be as prepared as the 2021 team under MariNo when we visited Columbus. We need to keep the foot on the gas pedal from the kick-off and never let go. As to match-ups, I think our D will hold their own. The question is which offense shows up Saturday - the one that played the 1st half or 2nd half of the UCLA game?

Just watched the game recap coz we were at the Cirque Du Soleil show Saturday Got to say the game showed how vulnerable Alabama was, especially the defense. Or maybe Vandy with QB Pavia is vastly underrated this year. Alabama Offense has all the talents and it showed in all the crazy catches and throws, but their D simply couldn't stop a solid, but not flashy Vandy offense. Hate to say this, but the game reminded me a little bit of our loss to the rodents 4 years ago. It was hard fought, but the more talented team simply got out-hustled and muscled. Every top-5 team should watch this game as a lesson of humility.

Looking forward to his matchup against Herbert next Sunday! Lots of former OBD players in that game.

I do follow and watch Tulane football. TT unfortunately still hasn't improved much. He is only put in the game whenever they need a short yardage QB draw play, typically near the goal line. That's why his stat looks deceivingly good. His throwing is still very inaccurate. At least he will be getting a degree from a good school, but don't count on him playing after college.
