Feldman and Canzano are saying the AJC article is correct and Lanning will be hired as HC
Awesome/welcome coach. Now roll up the sleeves, keep as much of the recruiting class intact as possible, bring some Georgia Def studs with you and hit some assistant home run hires.
-
Lanning? A HUGE Gamble.
I think uw's hire was way below Laning, especially recruiting wise; UCLA, mixed emotions from them, a large number wanted Kelly off their hands; OSU, 'nough said about little bro; usc only one with more name recognition, but that would be true of anyone we hire.

24/7's Update
In general ..... Mullens is keeping it close to the vest, so a lot of smoke. Lanning's name leaked by non UO sources. Could be other candidates that the names haven't broken yet. Lanning's brother live on twitter last night. No offer yet. Current Ducks and some parents took part. No bad mouthing of Cristobal from them, they understood going home which is a great take since these are kids away from home and parents. Chip re-upping ?? Wilcox mentioned.

Three of the Last Four Coaches under Rob Won Rose Bowls, Deserves the Credit he can get This Right
Matt Phrem at 24/7 is reporting he thinks "the brass": 1) knows what it is doing; 2) things are progressing "normally"; 3) knows there is a sense of urgency; 4) and that the decision will probably come in the next 24 to 48 hours. He also acknowledges the restlessness of the fan base.

Will Ty Thompson Start in the Alamo Bowl?
I'd bet my ex-wife's half of our ex-house on OU. (Well, if I had an ex-wife and the current one doesn't read my posts, so I don't think I'll be shopping for a new one after 43 years) That team wants to show Lincoln he made a bad choice leaving. The Ducks, I don't think they have the same moxie.

Canzano's Update

Transfer Portal Will Be a Disaster For Student-Athletes
It is welcome to the real world Mr. Transferee. Enter the portal and you are now an “at will” student/athlete/employee. It reminds me of a line in Ghostbusters when the gang gets kicked out of the college and Bill Murray says something to the effect of going out in the real world or private sector “where they expect results.”

OC for Chip. Get Chris Petersen !!! Now!!!

Want To Keep a Coach For the Duration of His Contract.
The coaches get their millions for coaching. If they get fired "for cause" then end of story. If they get fired for bad performance, then they are owed the balance of their contract mitigated by being re-employed.
-
Want To Keep a Coach For the Duration of His Contract.
Structure the buy-out as follows: If you leave before the end of your contract, your buy-out is the amount we have paid you on your contract, plus the amount we have paid the assistants that leave the program. So, if the coach gets 7 Mil per year and the assistants 3.0 Mil, then the buy-out is 10 Mil for every year of the contract the coach fulfilled. It won’t stop poaching, but it will make it hurt the suitor and benefit the jilted lover.
