I watched my favorite MLB team (Rangers) win their first ever World Series this year and it was awesome. Especially knocking off our arrogant, cheating rivals in the ALCS. I had started following them when I first moved to Dallas in the mid 80’s and they were pretty awful.
Like Oregon, they slowly got better. They eventually got to the point where they were one strike away from the 2011 WS championship only to have the rug pulled out from under them. It always feels good when you’ve watched them through the hard times and they finally reach the top of the mountain.
It was a great moment. I bought the shirt and hat and watched the parade on TV…and then it was over. I was on to other things. The elation of winning lasts no longer than the sorrow of losing. Life goes on.
However, be glad that your team gave you a reason to be sad. If you’re only feeling is apathy when they lose then it’s very likely that they stink.

You can bet that if they lose to Liberty the USC fans are going to return the favor for our Tulane trash talk last year.

I considered this one as well.. However with likely opt-outs, it is unclear what we might be measuring, if you get my drift.
UGA has maintained a pretty solid standard when it comes to recruiting, player development and on-field play. I would like to see if Oregon’s recruiting, player development and on-field play has improved since September of 2022. Maybe we only lose by 3 scores instead of 6. Both teams will have big name opt outs and transfers, so it might be fun to see.
Unfortunately, most sites are predicting Oregon/Bama in the Fiesta Bowl. I think Bama is playing the best football in the nation right now, so it might not go well. Especially with no Dorlus, Burch, etc.

Greg Sankey is already having conniptions.
Greg Sankey says SEC being left out of CFP isn't 'real world' - ESPN

As No. 1 Georgia prepares to play No. 8 Alabama in Saturday's SEC championship game, SEC...Despite me thinking that the committee will leave Bama out of the playoff, I think they’re the best team in the nation right now. If they sneak into the playoff they’ll win the national championship. The way their defense was locking down UGA’s offense yesterday was amazing. They have the best CB’s in the nation and their front seven is up there with the best.

It should be
1. Michigan
2. Washington
3. FSU
4. Texas
That is the most realistic scenario and it’s what I see happening. This would give Washington and excellent shot at playing for the national championship.

They get a draft grade from the NFL that shows them their likely draft status. It isn’t always accurate though. Verone McKinley can attest to that.

The positive spin I’ve heard about NIL is it can keep future late round picks from leaving college early because they would be taking a pay cut. I hope that happens with some of our Juniors.
-
Most sites are projecting Texas for the final spot. The committee has been consistent with Texas if anything. However, I could see them pulling a final hour coup and deciding that Bama had the more impressive loss than Texas…even though their loss was to Texas.

He’s insecure because he knows the Ducks would take LSU down by at least two scores.

For those of you who aren’t watching football today, I think it’s good that you’re avoiding this evening’s games. Watching FSU vs. Louisville is like watching Iowa’s offense play against Iowa’s defense on a perpetual loop.

I’m with 1Ducker1, it depends on who decides to play for Oregon in the bowl game. It would be interesting to play Georgia, but only if Nix and Franklin decide to suit up.
That’s a good point. UGA without our best players could get out of hand. I wouldn’t mind a rematch of the 2015 Rose Bowl with FSU. They have a young QB like we will have. Also, I would like to beat Mike Norvell because his voice is annoying and he has cop hair.

Georgia. I want to see if the Ducks have closed the gap.

Nope. I’m a Gonzaga basketball fan. I’ve been to this dance before. 2021 Final Four against Baylor. Truth be told I saw this coming. There was too much hype for Oregon and way too much disrespect for Washington. It played right into DeBoer’s hands. His motivational speech wrote itself.

For all we say about Mario, he never lost to Petersen.

I made a Costco run and am now watching the SEC Championship game. I like good football, so I’m enjoying it. However, Bama is totally dominating UGA’s defense.
-
Another question to ponder is did the coaching staff change up the play calling signals? They already played this year so if WA got a feel for their signals then all’s fair. The reason I mention this is they always seemed to be one step ahead of the Ducks.

If you look at the top 11 right now it’s all SEC and B1G except for FSU. Oregon will have to beat a couple of good teams, but the future playoffs aren’t going to be almost unattainable like the past.

I’m pretty sure we’re going to see what the Ducks have with Ty during the Fiesta Bowl. If they end up playing Bama or Penn State or another good defensive team it may not go well. It all depends on who declares for the NFL and who transfers.

No. Oregon has a Washington problem. Much like their Stanford problem of the early 2010’s. They don’t match up well with potent passing offenses. We just didn’t know it because there are no other potent passing offenses that we play besides Washington. USC has a great QB and a couple of decent WR’s, but no defense and no OL. I have a feeling we would’ve had problems with Arizona had we played them.

It looks like the Ducks have their first transfer portal casualty. I expect many more if they’re going to sign top 10 classes.
-
Troy Calhoun would definitely resurrect the Pettibone days with his offense. He can bring Ian Shields in from Minot State to run his offense.
-
Colorado has lost 3 commandments in as many days. They also had a coach resign. Why do you think it is?
Some say the recruits fear Deion is leaving and some say they don’t like what he said about NIL. That he’s not handling out money to just sign with him. While these theories might be true, I have another one.
Deion has said and shown that he’s willing to make wholesale changes to his roster to win. I think recruits want more security than he’s offering. There seems to be pressure to develop immediately or be replaced.
He recruited a new O-Line for this season and he’s already said he needs to replace them. I think this could be a cautionary tale of relying on the transfer portal too much. It’s good for plugging gaps, but mass changes every year could scare off high school recruits.

All PAC-12 Football Team Announced
in Our Beloved Ducks

Of Course, the Fusky fans are all up in arms about Penix, but he disappeared for a few games. Besides, I don’t recall ever seeing Darron Thomas on the first team and he won two PAC-10/12 championships. Andrew Luck was 0-2 against DT, but was always selected as 1st team QB.
