Let's get it going on Saturday! (NOT the Oregon game, as we'll have another thread for that)
-------------------------------------------------------------
Heisman Trophy and playoff hopes are hanging in the balance for Boise State. Army has been a nice story this season, so it would be nice to see them win a conference championship.
-
According to the University of Oregon academic calendar the students will be on Winter break from 14 December-05 January. This means they won't be around for a home playoff game. I'm guessing their tickets would go for sale on the open market which means we could see massive amounts of opposing fans in Autzen.
Oregon either has to win the CCG tomorrow night or hope for ASU or Boise in the first round. If a SEC team comes to Eugene it will look like the Tennessee game from 2013 when they filled about 35% of the stadium. If I know Southerners like I think I do, they will mortgage their houses and live off of Dollar General food for a year to pay for a trip to Oregon see their team play.

The ESPN prediction model gives PSU a 53.6% chance of winning this game. Probably because Oregon has never won a conference championship at an indoor stadium.

This is a strange turn of events. this guy was the belle of the ball a few years ago when he was helping lead the KC Chiefs to two Super Bowls. This is what happens when Patrick Mahomes isn't your QB anymore.

UCLA, which ranked 126th nationally in scoring this season, has fired offensive coordinator Eric Bieniemy after just one season, a source confirmed to ESPN.-

The reality is that in order to compete at the highest levels you just need to bring in a top 5 class rather consistently. Even if Oregon drops a place or two we are still in that zone. Beyond that our class rating in terms of individual player rankings is super high and that's the most important stat. Bring in the quality players.
This is exactly what Dabo did and he got two national championships out of it.

This Husky Honk doesn't like our coach.
I have never and will never ever root for the yukes and after watching that crazy fucked up halftime circus their hc instigated I hope no loyal Husky will ever either. That sob is sick and needs help if the last thing he thinks about before going to bed each night is the UW football team. Come on Kirby Smart or Sark please kick their butt in the CFB playoffs and keep them in their place as classless also rans and never the best team money can buy national champions!!!

They not only got killed 24-3 by an unranked team, they quit. That alone should get them bumped out of the top 25. I would have less of a problem with South Carolina being in the top 12. At least the Gamecocks are hungry and have steadily improved.

They will make it happen. Bama is a lock. There is absolutely zero chance that only three SEC teams will be in the playoffs.

The title of the article is misleading. Whose feathers did he ruffle? I didn't really see examples of any person or group of people getting offended. The Tweet from Barstool Sports is just pointing out how unconventional he is. They are the last group of people who would be offended by anything sports related unless you insult Boston teams.

Conner Weigman is another name that is being floated to Oregon and he's actually the highest rated QB in the portal. I really don't see him as a starter for a top 10 team and a guy like him is going to want more of a guarantee to start.

I have watched a few pieces of their games and I don't see him being "an upgrade". Athletic? Heck yeah. Is he a good QB? He struggled in games at OU, but that's not the best example.
He sat and learned from Dylan last year and still hasn't grasped being a starter. Maybe he'll go back to play for Lebby at Miss. St.

Poor Wazzu. Oklahoma is poaching their QB, Mateer. Maybe they can snag Arnold.

I think SMU is probably in the playoff regardless. If they get shut out and blasted I think they might not make it... but I think they're in it.
This quote from Warde Manuel tells us everything we need to know regarding SMU's fate if they lose on Saturday. He just added the word "potentially" to his response to throw everybody off.
Warde was also asked directly if SMU could fall below Alabama, and he responded, "Potentially, yes."

SMU should play and win the ACC. There was always going to be four SEC teams in this playoff. Even if it meant putting a slew of 9-3 teams in the 9-12 seeds. The committee’s justification is codified in their protocols that were posted on ESPN yesterday. Just listening to the committee chairman talk with Rece Davis last night reminded me of this gem of a rant.
My favorite quote from this rant: “We don’t need to solve this on the field because we’re the ones that know”.
All these years later and nothing has changed.

Well that's disappointing, especially when a good number of starters are probably leaving after this season. Maybe his sheer size is getting in the way of out-competing others in the oline group? I mean there's such a thing as *too* big...
Sometimes when a guy that big comes in the S&C coaches will try to rebuild their bodies. This typically requires a lot of hard work from the player because there is a lot of dieting to go along with the conditioning. The player has to be extremely disciplined in order to make the transformation. I’m not saying this was the case, but it’s possible.

UW fans don't have much to see with their team...
Phil Knight, Pat Kilkenny, and the other duhk bros can keep pouring money into shiny facilities for UO athletics, the UO can allow itself to be taken over by the sports nut boosters but the UO will still be a second rate educational institution and Eugene will still be a hole. As a native Oregonian, I think the whole thing is kinda sad. Meanwhile, Oregon State University continues to increase its enrollment and focus on the real mission of actually educating the citizenry.
I like how their own signing day discussion thread devolved into talking about Oregon.

I hope this is true, but I'm not so sure. The committee has signaled that they will not penalize teams for participating and losing in the conference championship game. I'd prefer that Ohio St. climb one more spot and move to the other side of the bracket.
Two of the top five protocols the committee uses are head to head and result against a common opponent. If PSU loses by more than one point they have the justification to bump them down.

Peyton Bowen's shenanigans last year is understandably giving everybody pause this year. I get the feeling Offord's mom is going to talk him into signing with Auburn which was where he was projected to flip to.

5-star cornerback Na’eem Offord announces college commitment

The Oregon Ducks pulled off the recruiting flip for 5-star cornerback Na’eem Offord, pulling him away from the Ohio State Buckeyes. This is great. But, as we learned last year choosing an Oregon hat on early signing day means nothing if they don't actually send in the written letter of athletic aid which replaces the old LOI.

I wonder how Akili Smith Jr. feels about this. Of course it's great for Oregon to have two blue chip QBs, the more competition the better. But it ultimately means one will transfer out at some point (I surmise either Dante Moore or Austin Novasad will leave when one starts over the other...assuming no transfer portal QB is signed).

GameDay Discussion of Big-12 Championship Game!

UNLV’s QB is skittish. Had he stood in the pocket he would’ve seen his WR coming open on the cross. Instead, he got sacked for a huge loss.
