I think per capita, Oregon's Travel is probably better than it looks in the stadiums.

Per capita, Oregon is right up there with Alabama, Oklahoma, Nebraska, etc. Yet, these teams kill us in attendance. I understand Oklahoma and Nebraska. They have one team. Alabama has two teams and Auburn killed us in attendance in the NC game in January 2011.

My fear is that in a sixteen team playoff, the winner will not be the best team, but the luckiest (in avoiding injury).

A March Madness approach does not work, in my view, with a sport as tough on the human body as football.

This is why DL said he was recruiting depth. He knew from his time in the SEC that a strong starting lineup could only take you through the first month or two of the regular season.

  3. I hope he doesn’t get a hold of this guy and try to keep him home by telling him he made Gronk the best TE in the NFL.

The Oregon Ducks landed five-star tight end Kendre Harrison over the Florida State Seminoles, North Carolina Tar Heels, Miami Hurricanes, Penn State Nittany Lio

If you're griping about it, fusky and beavis, try actually investing in football which makes your schools money!

Oddly enough, it's not the local rivals who are doing the most whining. It's the blue bloods who are used to being at the top of the food chain. They thought Oregon was nice story.  A flash in the pan with the fast offense and cool uniforms. Now that OBD is being built like them and getting the recruits that they're used to getting, they're mad as hell. They see Phil Knight and immediately blame his wallet.

Lanning is building a program we can see becoming the dominant program. While there may be some PTSD from failure within the fanbase it doesn't transmit into the team of players, coaches and support staff Lanning is creating.

This is why I'm not going to be too heartbroken if this season doesn't end the way I want it to. This program looks like it's being built for the long haul. Even if DL leaves at some point his tenure will show potential coaches that Oregon is committed to the future, and it will be an attractive destination. From the dedication to building new facilities to the way the NIL is run, this program is set up to win. Nike doesn't just throw money at Oregon, they lend their sports science, equipment technology and business acumen to the Duck athletic programs.

One of my favorite things to see on social media is other fans complaining how Oregon is buying rosters. They don't understand how the program manages their NIL program. They think that if your throw a ton of money at something then winning will be the result. If that was the case, Auburn would be bathing in championships. Money helps, but management and leadership are the most important thing.

  6. I don’t think I’ve ever seen Oregon fans travel well to a major bowl game. Ohio State outnumbered us almost 2 to 1 in the 2010 Rose Bowl and national championship. Hell, they almost had 30% of Autzen Stadium this year. My guess is either OSU or Tennessee will have significantly more fans in LA on January 1st.

Auburn, KSU, Wisconsin, Penn State (B1G CG) all showed up in droves and made the Oregon crowd look small. However, this year’s team responded well in Indy, so the lack of Duck fans shouldn’t affect them too much.

  7. According to the lady a few cubicles over from me at work, Oregon won’t make it past the first SEC teams they face. I believe the quote I heard was “Bama would walk all over Oregon, so they don’t stand a chance against Tennessee or Georgia”.

She was going on about how the best teams weren’t in the tournament because they had to let the other conference champions in and a few wild cards. I didn’t say anything to her but an opportunistic NY Giants fan reminded her of the 2007 and 2012 Giants teams who won the Super Bowl with 9-7 records.

I don’t really blame her. She’s still sees the world through Saban colored glasses and she thinks Milroe is a great QB. She’ll get over it when Bama finishes in the middle of the SEC a few more times.

Miami with their all-in season, with the best QB they've had in decades, is relegated to the PopTart bowl.

So, do you think this is the highest ceiling that Miami can reach under MC?

I think Mario is still a great recruiter, so he will always have good players. Hopefully, for his sake, he can graduate from on-the-go breakfast snacks to more of a sit down meal. I predict he makes to the Tony the Tiger Bowl next year.

Fun Fact about Tony the Tiger. The man who sang You’re a Mean One, Mr. Grinch is the same guy who did his voice. Thurl Ravenscroft.

Next year sets up as an absolute gift for a QB to get his web feet wet. We play @PS and home with Indiana. Thats the toughest regular season games. No Ohio and no Michigan. Whoever is QB will be given a gift for development and plenty of room for mulligans next year. We could very well go undefeated in the regular season again.

The Ducks first road game next season will be in front of 110,000 fans in State college, PA. It will also likely be a white out. That sounds like a tough game to me.
