Love it, signed 3* gamer Mark Wiepert. This kid knows how to win, and play the game.
He isn't a 4 or 5 star player, but he is a playa! Oregon owns, Oregon, once again!
I hope he'll be playing baseball as well.

Right now, the only Oregon commit who is projected to flip is Dorian Brew to Ohio State.

Remember DeAnothony's day? That was huge. Today we will just be disappointed by verbals waiting to sign. This sucks.
There are still a few flips in the mix, but I understand the excitement of waiting for a guy to pick a hat. The Peyton Bowen situation was kind of exciting, but He flipped to OU pretty quickly after flipping to Oregon. I hope he enjoys the Birmingham bowl this year.

Division II uses a pretty good model. They have 28 teams and it's only 5 weeks which would add one week to our playoffs. The only difference is they use regional playoffs until they get to the semi-finals (NE, SE, MW, West) which is due to money and travel. The top ranked team from each region gets a bye while the next six play the first round. They're down to 16 teams in week two and so on.

Lanning goes undefeated with only two first-team players and doesn’t win COY? I guess he should’ve played an easier schedule like Cignetti did.

If the four team format was being used this year, we are in the playoffs with Texas, Penn State and Notre Dame. I think we destroy all of those teams. We would be extremely well positioned to win the national championship. The road is going to be harder with a 12 team field. I could see this coming from a long way off as well... Just our luck.... Go Ducks!!
Yep. The Bama’s, Georgia’s and the Clemson’s would be nowhere near the 4 team playoff this year. We thought they expanded the playoff to 12 teams to open the door for Cinderella. But, all it did was allow for more wicked step sisters to come crashing through.

Once the conference championship games are concluded things will change. If PSU loses they will drop below OSU in the final rankings because of the H2H loss. Texas and UGA will certainly change some seedings. The Dawgs would drop below Bama for sure due to their H2H loss.
If Oregon loses they could drop to 5 or 6 depending on how the committee views Notre Dame. It certainly wouldn’t be the first time the Irish got their golden domes polished by the voters.

I really don't know we have any reason to expect a committee, of 13 people propped by ESPIN, operating without recognized criteria, to produce a clean bracket.
They actually have a set of protocols that they use (see article). The protocols are (in a nutshell) championships won, strength of schedule, head to head, common opponents, and other factors such as injured key players. This is what they’re using to fill the bracket with blue bloods.
The committee chairman even stated tonight that it was a “possibility” that SMU could fall behind Bama if they lose to Clemson. That’s committee-speak for “If SMU loses the ACCCG they’re out”.
One can read this article and deduce that the SEC is getting no less than 4 teams in this tournament.

The protocols that the committee uses in this article might as well be labeled the “blue blood or SEC clause”. They place a pretty big emphasis on championships won, strength of schedule, availability of key players, etc. They’ve taken all the shady decisions from past committees and codified them. These protocols give them the justification to fill the tournament with SEC and B1G teams.

Oregon still at #1. I was surprised that Bama was 11th until I read the protocol that the committee uses. This is what leaves the door open for Bama to supplant SMU if they lose to Clemson. SMU’s best wins are Pitt and Louisville who are no longer ranked. Should be a fun weekend coming up.
I thought Miami at #12 was interesting, but they have no shot at the playoff since the Big 12 Champ will move into the playoff. The only two teams in the top 12 right now that can be supplanted by their CCG opponents are Boise State and SMU. Nobody else stands a chance of moving out of the top 12

This is why you should never expect the "Committee" to do the logical thing. The entire premise of the Playoff selection is chaos, and yeah, afterwards it looks like their decisions worked, like letting an Alabama in without even winning their division.
But they won the championship. That doesn't mean it was the right decision, another team would have won it if Alabama hadn't been there.
Exactly my point. It may not be logical to us, but in their minds, they know exactly what they're doing. They looked like geniuses because Bama/UGA went to OT and was a great game. They looked like geniuses again in 2022 by letting Ohio State in to play UGA because they almost won on a last second FG.
Then they looked like morons the next week for letting TCU in. So, they corrected the decision the following year by leaving an undefeated FSU team out because they thought they would get blown out. FSU never stood a chance of getting in last year because of what UGA did to TCU.

College Football Playoff: Which teams are in position for the final spot?
SPORTS.YAHOO.COM
Eleven of the 12 playoff spots are likely wrapped up, leaving a handful of teams vying for the final berth.Isn't it nice to have ZERO beefs (maybe a small meatball from Bielema
) coming out of B1G HQ?
Now, we need a 2-loss ACC team to knock out a 3-loss SEC team and we can watch Greg Sankey going PO'd Hanky-Pankey.
I can say with the utmost certainty that Clemson beating SMU will only eliminate SMU from the playoffs. Bama will get in with the 11th or 12th seed no matter what. The committee might make controversial decisions, but they have come out smelling like a rose on most of them (i.e. 2014 Ohio State, 2017 Bama, 2020 Ohio State, 2022 Ohio State, 2023 Bama).

ND lost to NIU.
OSU dropped 5 spots after losing to unranked UM.
We will have been the undisputed #1 for the entirety of the CFP ranking and lose to #4 in the country in a game ND didn't have to play.
Josh Pate is very tied in and had stated clearly the committee will not punish losers of a CCG relative to those that didn't play in one.
Unless we look overmatched and get smoked by Penn State, ND does not jump us. Not happening.
You have way too much trust in the committee to do the correct thing. Let's go over some of the questionable decisions these committees have made.
1. Replacing FSU with Bama last season because they were on their 3rd string QB.
2. Putting a 6-win Ohio State team in the playoff in 2020.
3. Replacing #3 TCU in 2014 with Ohio State even though they were on their 3rd string QB.
4. Leaving B1G Champ Penn State out of the 2016 playoff and replacing them with B1G runner up Ohio State (whom PSU beat earlier in the year).
5. Giving Bama the 4th seed in 2017 despite them losing the Iron Bowl by multiple scores and not even playing in the SECCG.
6. Giving Notre Dame a playoff spot in 2020 despite them being blown out by Clemson when an 8-1 A&M team was left out.
Never underestimate the committee and never expect them to do the conventional thing. The reason being is they have hit on most of their "controversial" decisions.

It's worth noting that the coaches didn't even give TFerg Honorable Mention as a TE.

Mario became Oregon's coach because the current players at that time told Mullens he is who they wanted. Then, Josh Wilcox almost became Oregon's head coach because that's who the former players told him they wanted. Luckily, Wilcox turned the job down and forced Mullens to go with the inexperienced kid.

Who does he think he is? No coach can get into the playoff with two bad losses unless they're wearing a crimson script "A" on their polo.

No way the committee drops us 5 spots to punish us for playing in a CCG when ND did not, unless we get blown out by Penn State, which seems impossible.
And it does matter to get the highest seed to have the easiest path to the semifinal. It's hard to win every single game, especially in the playoffs.
My other comment is to state the obvious that this is our last chance to lose and still win it all. And a loss can serve as motivation going forward, so I'm okay with losing a close one where we make some mistakes and the ball doesn't bounce our way.
Notre Dame always has and always will get the benefit of the doubt. They lost to the 7th ranked team in the MAC, they have beaten only one ranked team (Army), and yet they're still ranked #4. Ahead of two SEC teams and three other one-loss teams. If you don't think it's possible that committee will jump them ahead of a one-loss Oregon team, then you're in for a big surprise.
