EWU wasn’t a very good litmus test. The talent gap was pretty large. However, with all the Power 5 teams that seem to get beat by FCS teams every year, I was impressed that Lanning didn’t let them look past Eastern. They’re typically a good team every year. The always seem to be in the playoffs. The concern for next week is the fans. There was a lot off empty seats for a home opener. I expect to see a ton of blue in the crowd next week. BYU fans will be on a mission (pun intended). Like when Nebraska and Tennessee visited. Those guys took up about 1/3 of Autzen.

What's the Over/Under Scott Frost Keeps His Job?

I think they’ll do it Monday morning if they’re going to fire him. My question is who are they going to get to replace him? -
Miami Fans Meltdown Mid-Game Week Two
DrJacksPlaidPants replied to DazeNconfused's topic in Our Beloved Ducks
One thing Mario doesn’t have to worry about is his defense’s ability to communicate. It’s so quiet in their stadium that the players can talk to each other in a conversational tone. -
Wasn’t the 2017 home opener really bad? I just remember smokey skies and KO return for a TD on the opening kick.

Mario still has a chance next week in College Station. Jimbo can mis-manage a game as well as anybody. -
The favorites aren’t doing too well today.

Texas. It should be 14-10. Dropped TD pass and Bama’s DB’s (who happen to be wearing black and white striped shirts) aren’t letting The Horns WR’s catch anything.

OBD Prediction Contest vs. Eastern Washington!

I’m not worried about Dan Lanning or the staff. I’m somewhat worried about the mental state of the players. Mostly the ones from last year’s team. They’ve lost 4 of the last 5 by an average of over 30 points. I don’t know why it’s happened, but one blowout is problematic. Two or three is a trend. I expect that they’ll win this weekend, but BYU will be a good test of where the team is mentally.

From a Long, Long, Time Duck...

He‘s becoming the Steve DeBerg of college football. -
A few points on this as I thought the same thing. First, Bethune Cookman had 2 wins last season. They stink. Second, MC threw the ball 23 times vs. 42 runs. They completed 20 of those passes. BC’s pass defense is horrible. Van Dyke threw 16 passes and had around 200 yards and a couple of TD’s. Those are hardly the numbers he was putting up last season. He’ll be out of Heisman contention after the A&M game in 2 weeks. Third, he’s playing with another coaches recruits. I’ll be interested to see how he develops his own players in the future. He had his best season at Oregon with Helfrich’s players.

This guy looks really good. It's nice to get these Top 300 defensive linemen. Oregon scores surprise commitment in four-star A'mauri Washington 247SPORTS.COM The Oregon Ducks secured a verbal commitment late Friday night on the eve of the start of the 2022 football season, and it comes from one of the top defensive line

That’s what “playing not to lose” gets you.

I actually think the OL is the weak link in Oregon’s offense. They were impressive against Ohio State last year and that is because the DC refused to make adjustments. From that point on they failed to impress. None of them were very good in the Spring game, either. Tons of sacks and very few rushing yards. If UGA dominates them, it won’t surprise me.

Yikes. "Nice Has No Future" True?

Please do not relent from your standards. I was talking about this site to my wife the other day about how it should be used as the standard for community social media pages. Our neighborhood/community has its own Facebook page and sometimes I read the comments on my wife’s IPad. The site is a total disaster. It’s a great example of why I gave up Facebook long ago. However, sometimes I have to witness the train wreck to catch up on who I need to avoid when I’m out and about. It usually starts out with an innocent post from somebody asking for help or advice about something mundane like best landscape company, electrician, general contractor, etc. This is typically followed up by the smart aleck who berates them for not using the search function. Then, a couple people will suggest their favorite companies which is followed up by people attacking said companies for unethical practices which leads to a side battle with personal attacks. If that isn’t enough, the community “know it all” has to chime in and tell the person that the project that they’re requesting the workers for violates the covenants. This is typically followed up with the section(s) of the covenants being copied and pasted directly into a Facebook post. Usually, 5+ pages worth. This is typically followed up with several arguments about the spirit or intent of the covenants. Throw in several complaints about everything from speeders to slow moving golf carts to “too many deer” and you’ve got yourself and day’s worth of drama. I won’t even get into the never ending episodes of “Days of Our Volunteer Lake Patrol” that always play out on the page. I don’t know what’s worse. The idiots who can’t follow simple boating etiquette or the Lake Patrol’s Gestapo tactics. If this was painful for you to read then I hope it provides the motivation to keep the “undesirables” off this site. -

Biggest Confidence On the Field This Week
DrJacksPlaidPants replied to McDawg's topic in Our Beloved Ducks
Franklin and Thornton can exploit any defensive backfield in the nation. They just need the right QB (and OC). I think the OL is overrated. The same thing was said about the 2019 OL and Auburn’s DL abused them. Granted, those guys were studs.
