  1. It depends on how badly they lost to UGA. One thing you have to watch out for is the one-loss team that didn’t make it to the SEC championship game. Bama has won two national championships without even playing in the SECCG.
  2. UGA hasn’t played well the past couple of games. It makes Oregon’s loss look much worse. If Florida finishes behind UGA, Tennessee, and Kentucky in the SEC East then Utah won’t prevent two SEC teams from going to the playoff if they win out. They would need to hope for the ACC and Big 12 to cannibalize each other.
  3. I’m thinking Clemson, a one-loss or undefeated B1G champ, and 2 SEC teams. If Bama and UGA go to the championship game undefeated then both will go to the playoff. The Big 12 and PAC 12 champs have to be undefeated to be considered.
  4. I’ve never seen a season where a team lost early by more than 7 TD’s and then went on to the playoffs or championship game. In fact, their lone loss by 4 TD’s to Bama was the reason why the 2020 Texas A&M team wasn’t considered for the playoff. They were beat out by a one-loss Notre Dame team who got beat by Clemson in the ACC championship game (they spent the pandemic year in the ACC).
  5. The AP and coaches polls will be wildly different than the playoff rankings. If the playoff poll came out today I would bet that the Ducks would be somewhere between 15-20. They would definitely be behind Wake, Miss State and Kentucky. I would also bet that UCLA and TCU would be a lot higher ranked after their big wins this weekend.
  6. Even if they win out, the Ducks will be outranked by all other one-loss conference champions as well as the team that loses the SEC Championship game (if that’s their only loss). I would say there is little chance Oregon goes to the playoffs as the PAC 12 champion. There would have to be a lot of two-loss conference champions. Playoff selection is still a beauty contest and Oregon has a big ol’ zit right in the middle of their forehead. 49-3 is a pretty big stain on their resume.
  7. See who got closest with TO’s, sacks and passing yards. Add those factors into the equation.
  8. They had better get it figured out this week. The Ducks haven’t won in Tucson since 2011 and they were blown out the last two times they played there. Note to Dan Lanning. Don’t wear black/gray uniform combo.
  9. Who wins in a fight? I’ll take Schiano. There must’ve been some bad blood between them when they coached together under Urban Meyer. Day running a fake punt with that kind of lead seems very personal.
  10. I don’t think that Shout is going to go away. I don’t blame DL for putting a stop to the players dancing around.
  11. The big reason for Dixon’s success was Chip. That was his first year as OC and his offense was perfectly suited for DD’s skill set. Unfortunately for Ashford, he’s going to get a new coaching staff next season, so he will have to start over. There’s also a chance that he may not be in the future coach’s plans. For example, how many teams in the Pac are playing with a new transfer QB? I can name 6 just off the top of my head. Fuskies, WSU, Ducks, USC, ASU, Arizona.
  12. How long have the players been dancing during Shout? The first I ever saw of it was Troy Dye in 2019.
  13. Yeah. You can see him smacking guys in the helmet. That’s considered a punch and it always ends in an ejection.
  14. “A talented group — all but Dickey have committed to play in Eugene”. Now, whether he remains committed is another question.
  15. Bowers reminds me of Colt Lyerla before he had his personal problems. But way better.
  16. Me waiting for an 8 PM game.
  17. Jonathan Smith has made some questionable play calls inside the 10. I understand the need to run the ball, but he’s been very “Marioesque” and the Utes have had no problems sniffing out his play calls.
  18. It didn’t take Nolan long to throw his first interception.
  19. Another requirement for any team joint the PAC is your school has to have the name of your state in its title unless it’s a private school. Nothing screams G5 conference like have schools named after their cities. I’m talking about you Boise State and San Diego State. UCLA, UNLV are acceptable, so IUB and CSUSD would work.
  20. Both teams are very good offensively. The Ducks will have to score a lot of points to beat them. Luckily, both games are at Autzen.
  21. A lot of folks like to wait until a couple of hours before game time to buy tickets. They’re always available and they’re very cheap because the sellers are trying to mitigate their losses.
  22. I’ll defer to rooting for Chip.
  23. Same here. I’m hoping the electricity stays on here in NC. It’s been flickering a little here and there.
