  1. Even if they win out, the Ducks will be outranked by all other one-loss conference champions as well as the team that loses the SEC Championship game (if that’s their only loss). I would say there is little chance Oregon goes to the playoffs as the PAC 12 champion. There would have to be a lot of two-loss conference champions. Playoff selection is still a beauty contest and Oregon has a big ol’ zit right in the middle of their forehead. 49-3 is a pretty big stain on their resume.
  2. See who got closest with TO’s, sacks and passing yards. Add those factors into the equation.
  3. They had better get it figured out this week. The Ducks haven’t won in Tucson since 2011 and they were blown out the last two times they played there. Note to Dan Lanning. Don’t wear black/gray uniform combo.
  4. This dude should’ve been a captain.
  5. Who wins in a fight? I’ll take Schiano. There must’ve been some bad blood between them when they coached together under Urban Meyer. Day running a fake punt with that kind of lead seems very personal.
  6. I don’t think that Shout is going to go away. I don’t blame DL for putting a stop to the players dancing around.
  7. The big reason for Dixon’s success was Chip. That was his first year as OC and his offense was perfectly suited for DD’s skill set. Unfortunately for Ashford, he’s going to get a new coaching staff next season, so he will have to start over. There’s also a chance that he may not be in the future coach’s plans. For example, how many teams in the Pac are playing with a new transfer QB? I can name 6 just off the top of my head. Fuskies, WSU, Ducks, USC, ASU, Arizona.
  8. How long have the players been dancing during Shout? The first I ever saw of it was Troy Dye in 2019.
  9. Yeah. You can see him smacking guys in the helmet. That’s considered a punch and it always ends in an ejection.
  10. “A talented group — all but Dickey have committed to play in Eugene”. Now, whether he remains committed is another question.
  11. Bowers reminds me of Colt Lyerla before he had his personal problems. But way better.
  12. Me waiting for an 8 PM game.
  13. Jonathan Smith has made some questionable play calls inside the 10. I understand the need to run the ball, but he’s been very “Marioesque” and the Utes have had no problems sniffing out his play calls.
  14. It didn’t take Nolan long to throw his first interception.
  15. Another requirement for any team joint the PAC is your school has to have the name of your state in its title unless it’s a private school. Nothing screams G5 conference like have schools named after their cities. I’m talking about you Boise State and San Diego State. UCLA, UNLV are acceptable, so IUB and CSUSD would work.
  16. Both teams are very good offensively. The Ducks will have to score a lot of points to beat them. Luckily, both games are at Autzen.
  17. A lot of folks like to wait until a couple of hours before game time to buy tickets. They’re always available and they’re very cheap because the sellers are trying to mitigate their losses.
  18. I’ll defer to rooting for Chip.
  19. Same here. I’m hoping the electricity stays on here in NC. It’s been flickering a little here and there.
  20. Ole Miss vs. Kentucky is going to be one of the best games of the week. I might worm my way into seeing that game if I had the chance.
  21. I would like to see Faaope Laloulu come into the backfield. He used to play basketball and volleyball in HS, so he’s pretty athletic. He may also have good hands, so he might me a decent receiving option as a tackle eligible. If you though Stanfurd’s big TE’s were hard to cover, well….
  22. With a 12 team playoff on the horizon I’m pretty much done with worrying about which conference the Ducks will be a member. However, if the B1G is going to snatch Pac 12 teams I would hope they get enough to make another division on the West Coast.
  23. This is a very interesting read. One interesting quote I saw was “Canes are injured, slow, stiff, and depleted”. That sounds vaguely familiar. It describes the 2021 Oregon Ducks. One thing Miami hasn’t figured out that I personally have been keeping an eye on is the amount of injuries that they have. Remember how many season ending injuries Oregon had last year? Bennett, Flowe, Redd, Johnson III, Verdell to name a few. The writer has some clue because he thinks Mario is over-working them to build toughness. Their fans haven’t figured it out yet. I would expect to see more injuries as their season goes on. An off-season of "Cheap Thrills" WWW.STATEOFTHEU.COM The Miami Hurricanes had another hype-filled off-season, but it was just a few months of cheap thrills.
