  1. University of Oregon alum and Creswell, OR native Mark Few notched his 44th NCAA tournament win. Number 45 is going t be a whole lot more difficult against #1 seed Houston on Saturday.
  2. For those of you planning to purchase tickets on the west side of Beaver (what a stupid name) Stadium. They tore down the press box on that side and it is under renovation. Penn State Expects Beaver Stadium 'Should' Be at Full Capacity for 2025 Season WWW.SI.COM Penn State AD Pat Kraft said he expects Beaver Stadium to be
  3. I talked with Charles last night and he thought it would be a good idea to start a pinned thread for those looking to attend the Penn State game in State College, PA on September 27th. This is a thread where we can coordinate ticket purchases, seating, tailgate gatherings, hotel and flight plans, etc. There are a few websites selling tickets already. As of today, February 27th, the ones selling tickets to this game are StubHub, Vivid Seats and Seat Geek. The prices for tickets on all of these websites is very close. Keep in mind that will likely be a top 10 matchup if both teams can make it to the game unscathed, so the likelihood of College Gameday being there is pretty good. Ole Miss /LSU is the only other great game that weekend. At the very least Fox Big Noon Saturday will be there. This means that the prices may increase as the game gets closer. It also means you can sell them for a profit if you can't make it to the game for some reason. I have already purchased my tickets from StubHub which are in Section NCU, Row 81. I bought two out of a 10 seat block, so if you sit up there you will have at least two Duck fans nearby. I also purchased a parking pass in lot 25, so I have a spot in the tailgate area (and it's right next to the interstate). I don't know when Oregon starts selling their allotment, but I read that sections NKU and NLU are the designated visitor sections. Charles has already made some arrangements with regard to hotel rooms and shuttles, but I will let him chime in here to give more details.
  4. While he only made a cameo, Kramer's dog Smuckers left an impression on me. I always wonder if he got rid of that nasty cough.
  5. I’m sure there will be plenty of references to our new 51st state.
  6. For me, there are two things that have ruined the game. First, the way points are generated. The big man still exists, but he sits behind the 3-point line and jacks up shots from downtown. Toughness in the key is non-existent. Second, the artificial creation of the super teams. Back in the day all the great teams were built through the draft. These days, it seems that players create alliances to win rings. There are a few exceptions like Giannis and The Joker, but the perception is that Steph and LeBron are trying to recruit players to join them so they can get one more championship.
  7. He’s worth it. As Prime used to say when he was on the NFL Network….”Pay da man”!
  8. Mahomes has a good 10-15 years left. That’s about one or two more generations of skill players and linemen. Think of the WR’s and O-linemen that Brady started with and then look at who he ended with. If Reid can stick around for 5 years he will win at least 2 more championships.
  9. In our local lake vessels under power have to yield to vessels that are not powered. That doesn’t seem so in the illustration on the cover of this book.
  10. It’s the week after football season, so cooler heads might give him a break since sports news has slowed to a crawl. However, his take is so bad he should be publicly flogged with a sock full of pickle balls. I know it’s not really painful, but he should suffer that embarrassment.
  11. I not letting Andy Reid walk until he turns into Belichik sans Brady. Whoever wrote this must’ve went to the Jerry Jones school of General Management.
  12. One or both Captains are dumb. Both will be scrutinized, but only one will have to answer to a world leader.
  13. Yes. I love hockey. I'm a Dallas Stars fan, but I live in Canes country, so I find myself going to their games to appease my wife. IMHO it is the best spectator sport by a long shot. This is because there isn't a lot of stoppage and, of course, the "physicality". Portland has a WHL team that has been around since at least the 70's. They've even won a couple of championships (Memeorial Cup). They had a coach named Ken Hodge who was a NHL Hall of Fame player. He coached them for as long as I could remember through the 70's and 80's. I noticed that Oregon's club level hockey team is not allowed to wear the official Oregon Ducks "O" on their uniform. My guess is that Nike doesn't make their uniforms and since the "O" is trademarked by Nike they can't use it.
  14. Remember, Kam Alexander was supposed to come in and start last season and he ended up only playing in four blowouts. He had four tackles and one interception on the year. Nothing is guaranteed when transferring to Oregon.
  15. His old OC, Moorehead, is also up for consideration. He's only making mid six figures at Akron. OSU can triple that.
  16. The 2008 duo of Jeremiah Johnson and LGB produced over 2200 yards and 30 TD's. It was really their only productive season of their Oregon careers, but it bears mentioning. Both did well in the NFL as well.
  17. Word on the street is the job is Hartline's to lose. Day knows they will lose him this year if he is not promoted to OC. Many teams are standing by to poach him.
  18. There is something to be said about having a NFL team on your coaching resume. However, job security is also attractive. Anybody know what Adrien Klemm is up to these days?
  19. This is very true. Only three college coaches have gone to the NFL and won the Super Bowl. Pete Carroll was previously the HC of the Patriots before USC, so he had previous NFL experience. Jimmy Johnson is the only coach to go straight into the NFL from college and win the Super Bowl. Barry Switzer was the other one but he was a figurehead.
  20. They can vacate the wins, but the players have stood on the podiums, kissed the trophies and received the rings. The fans have celebrated as well. The decision won't change anything but the history books.
  21. 1) What will Oregon’s record be and how far will they get in the playoffs? 9-3. They have a rough travel schedule with four games east of Iowa City and a new QB. They miss the playoffs. 2) Will there be a dominant team in college football? No. The B1G and SEC will beat up on each other. 3) What the heck will happen with Lincoln Riley and USC? I think he will keep them in the hunt this year (8-4, 9-3), so they will keep him around. 4) Will there be any changes to the playoff seedings and who deserves a first-round bye? No. It won't get a unanimous vote. 5) How will the SEC “rebound” from having only three teams in the playoff? I think they get five teams in due to the B1G and Notre Dame losing some ground. ACC or Big 12 get two teams in this year. 6) Will a team not from the SEC, B1G, or named Notre Dame make the semi-finals? Yes. Clemson. 7) Will Michigan and Alabama bounce back? Bama will make the playoffs. Not Michigan. 8) Will Dante Moore succeed at quarterback? If success is leading Oregon to the playoffs, then no. However, I think he will be far better than he was when he was a Freshman at UCLA. 9) Will the Ducks lose a coordinator? Maybe 2? No. 10) What is your gut feeling for 2025? No playoffs but new starters start to gel toward the end of the season.
  22. He would have to go into a good situation. The Bears are looking at David Shaw for OC, but Chip would do well with Caleb as his QB. I think Atlanta would be a good fit as well. However, the Panthers, Jets and Cowboys are so dysfunctional they would sink him.
  23. They better respect Oregon since both teams share a national championship.
  24. A generational college RB can do wonders for a QB. Buck Belue, Major Applewhite, Brooks Bollinger, and Maddux Madson would agree. I’m quite sure that some of our UGA brethren on this forum would agree with me when I say that as a left-handed QB, Buck Belue had possibly the sweetest hand-off release in NCAA CFB history. He won them a national championship because of it.
