Lanning’s Bulldog Defense: I’m Impressed, Are You?
Good luck next week vs. Bama. You will have a contingent of fans pulling for you from the far reaches of the Pacific Northwest. While the phrase “Go Dawgs” isn’t in our vocabulary because of the dirty mutt fans up in Seattle, many of us will still be cheering for you guys. We hope Dan Lanning continues the great tradition of coaches from the “Saban Tree”. We think we have a great situation for new head coaches to come into. Since 1993, we’ve only had two losing seasons. We’ve only ever hired one true HC from another program and he only stayed one season, so hiring unproven coaches is nothing new to us. Thanks for stopping by. I hope we’re competitive in ATL next season. I live in the region, so I might show up. Until then, Go Georgia, beat Bama!

IT'S UP TO THE UTES
Our punter didn’t drop a snap in the red zone. We also stopped the on 4th down three times.

IT'S UP TO THE UTES
It always starts with a muffed punt snap. The Breeze TD always brings back good memories.

IT'S UP TO THE UTES
Imagine if Oregon threw deep passes against Utah’s DB’s. Smith-Njigba is having a field day. Too bad he fumbled one into the end zone.

Whacked Washington Again: New WR Coach for Oregon Nabbed From Huskies
I hate to be “that guy” but we’ve been doing this since Mario announced he was leaving for Miami.

Now...Do you think that Cincinnati Belonged?
I don’t think any team that was left out of the top 4 would’ve fared any better against Alabama or Georgia. The result would’ve still been a decisive victory for both of those teams.

330 Pound Husky Defensive Tackle, Taimani to Oregon?
Washington shared their championship with Miami in 1991. That’s why Mario hated them so much. He was on that team.

Whittingham is 11-3 in bowl games, but he lost his last two.

Whacked Washington Again: New WR Coach for Oregon Nabbed From Huskies
It looks like he also coached for Kellen Moore’s dad at Prosser HS in 2007.

Portal Dumpster Fire at Hawaii (14 players!) has Connections to Oregon
The only connection to Oregon is that Chip and Helfrich are probably behind a lot of his anger due to him always losing to them.

Georgia GameDay Thread--Let's Support Coach Lanning!
The non-SEC teams have yet to score a TD.

No. 1 Alabama vs. No. 4 Cincinnati
Cincy’s kickers are like 8 for18 on FG’s this year. We should just hire Maldonado instead.

Running Back Room Filled: Credit Mastro?
True, but Oregon as a program hasn’t recruited the RB position very well in a long time. It’s not just Mastro.

Duck Fan Frustration: NOW we See the Deep Ball?
And there would’ve been another long TD pass if Franklin didn’t lose one in the roof/lights.

CJ Stroud: USC, UCLA "Just Kind of Boring"
Wait! Was he describing LA or Miami? Same story in two different cities.

Canzano: Lanning Needs to Solve Oregon's "Identity Crisis"
It’s a good piece of writing. He nailed it on the QB development. One thing that he didn’t really get into was the amount of patience that will be needed from this fan base. Oregon will not be very good next year. There will not be a 10 win season. I don’t think it will be because Lanning is a bad coach. I just think it will take more time to get the current players to buy into his system, recruit new players who fit his system and get right mix of assistant coaches to carry out his vision. These things take time and I don’t think there is enough talent to overcome the learning curve. The portal will only help so much. I don’t want to sound like a Debbie Downer, but Bo Nix was a mildly average QB and Dillingham’s offense at FSU was mildly average this last season. Mix those two together and you get mildly average. I think the current WR corps will probably bump them up a few notches, but I don’t think they’ll set the Pac 12 on fire.

Running Back Room Filled: Credit Mastro?
Oregon hasn’t had a dominant RB since 2012. And, no, I don’t put Freeman in that dominant category. He did fine with a great team around him, but he was average with an average team around him. On the other hand, LMJ, Kenyon, LGB, Jeremiah and JStew could dominate a game on their own and made their teams better. I want to put DAT in there but he was at his best in the hybrid position.

I was Massively Stoked Last Night
OU had some star players on defense opt out, so they were almost in the same boat as Oregon. Fewer injuries, though.

Alamo Bowl Gameday Thread: Why It Matters for Oregon
That ship sailed before the game. I needed to prep for the possibility of a Utah repeat.

Rest In Peace, John Madden
My favorite memory of John Madden was when he was calling the Cowboys vs. Giants (I think) game and talking about Nate Newton’s nutrition habits. I’m assuming It was Giants because it was windy and they were on astroturf and The Meadowlands was always windy it seemed. Anyway, Nate was laying on the ground for some reason with the camera on him and a Snickers candy bar wrapper goes blowing by on the turf. Madden jumps at the opportunity to mention that Nate was probably storing Snickers bars in his football pants, so he could have a snack during the game. Madden replayed the candy bar wrapper blowing by and circled it with his telestrator pen like he was diagramming a play in his usual fashion. It was absolutely hilarious. So, Nate gets home after the game and catches all kinds of grief from his family and friends about it. They all thought John Madden was serious and told him he needed to quit snacking during the game. Great memories!

The Alamo Bowl Blues
The Holiday Bowl was just canceled a few hours before KO due to COVID protocols, so there is still a chance this game can get axed at the last minute.

Herbstreit Asked Mario About The Miami Job In October!
This still has to get through the Coral Gables city council. Here is a quote from the Miami Herald. “The city of Coral Gables said it is “NOT in favor of a stadium project” and that the “speculative” proposal would not be compatible with surrounding neighborhoods, a spokesman told the Herald.” The story of a new stadium is just that. A story. It’s something to sell to recruits. Mario most likely will not be around once it does get approved and then built.
