  1. I think BSU will be a legit top twenty team and is significantly better than OSU. What ups the anti this week is executing at a high level while little brother’s rabid fans have a continuous tantrum in the stands. I’d expect it to be close in first half as they figure things out with separation in the second once they do.
  2. By seasons end BSU should be well inside the top 20. A close win against a top 20 level team is a huge step forward from a close win over Idaho. Once they settle on their best OL group the Offense will begin to perform more consistently. I think we'll see a major step forward in game three. Just in time for Beavis.
  3. I forgot to add Michigan on the better teams they face list but I think it will still only be two because BSU will most likely pass up Illinois at some point.
  4. After ranting like most other post game Duck fans, I have decided to take a few sips from the half full glass. Here we go. Sip #1: Best win of the year in the country so far? Looking at BSU's schedule, I don't see another loss. Going 11-1 then 12-1 with their only loss to potential playoff bound Ducks should get them the G5 playoff spot. If that's the case, the Ducks may have quietly won the most impressive game this season being the first team to beat a playoff bound team, (while dropping in the polls in the process!). This win may age very well. Sip #2: Ducks get it done in crunch time. With the game tied, BSU got the ball back and promptly went three and out and gave the ball back a minute later giving OBD plenty of time for a game winning drive. That drive was so efficient, they needed to stall out the final minute of the game to kick the 0:00 game winner. When it mattered most both the D and O absolutely dominated and got it done. (and as stated in Sip#1, against a playoff caliber team.). Actually quite impressive. Sip #3: Ducks can make special plays when they needed to. It was actually quite scary how close they were to losing this game. After the fumble spree momentum was clearly with BSU and honestly they looked like the better team. One epic kick off TD later (thank you Limar!), UO had stolen back the Mo and kept control until the end (see Sip #2). That was the first time the Ducks had both a kick off and punt return TD in the same game since 2001. Nice timing. The only teams ahead of BSU in the rankings the Ducks face are #3 tOSU and #24 Illinois. Did we just see a great game between two great teams and just not know it? Only time will tell.
  5. The key to the game will be scoring more points than the opponent. John Madden paraphrase.
  6. Speaking of messing up, that may have been a record amount of times that the play clock had to be reset.
  7. By season's end, BSU could be an 11-1 playoff team so this win may look better in hindsight than it does right now. Once they get the O line figured out, I think the expected results will start to come but it may take some time.
  8. As much as I'm disappointed in the Ducks this morning, by the end of the season we may have just beaten a #15 11-1 BSU team with a Heisman finalist running back.
  9. In hindsight, some close scrappy early season wins may be the best thing to happen to this team. Do you see them overlooking anybody on their schedule after just surviving the mighty Idaho at home? When it's fourth quarter gut check time on the road in the BIG, they'll have that roller coaster BSU 4th quarter to remember to help steady nerves. We all remember Kenny Wheaton's gonna score! KENNY WHEATON'S GONNA SCORE!!! But how many remember Hawaii 36 UO 16? Utah 34 UO 16? WSU 21 UO 7? Oregon was 4-3 going into that game against UW that year. That team rose from a humbling start to a team that knocked off back to back top ten teams (UW, UA) on it's way to the Pac title and the Rose Bowl. Another closer than comfort W on the road in Corvallis may be up next but that may also help prep the team for hostile scrappy environments that await in the BIG. The team has the players to be legit top five but may have also found the key humility ingredient to get mentality strong enough for a real playoff run.
  10. Not a SUC fan by any stretch but they have beaten a top 20 team and pitched a shut out in a blow out win and they're still not in the top 10.
  11. The crowd was announced as 58,000+. It was rocking most of the night. I felt the boos after those three pathetic run calls on long downs were justified. I don't like booing our own players but I felt just like the Cal booing for Mario that this was directed at the coaching staff. BSU put up around 200 yards of rushing against our supposedly top 10 defense with two starters out on their offensive line on the road in front of a hostile crowd. The UO has barely run for more than that in two games at home against Idaho and BSU. Something is very very wrong.
  12. SEC has 6 out of top 7 spots. Ya right. How is USC not in the top 10? Honestly how are they not ahead of the Ducks? BTW, BSU comes in at #27 just outside of the top 25.
  13. NCAA College Football Rankings: AP Top 25 Football Poll APNEWS.COM The official page for the AP Top 25 college football poll, a tradition since 1936. Keep up to date and view the latest ranking updates...
  14. Remember when Oregon beat Cal on a goal line stand and the fans were booing the bland play calling? I'd say we're just above there. Actually heard some boos after three Marioesque runs up the middle all facing long to go from deep in their own territory. This team seems to be in a weird fog coaches and players included. They seem physically talented enough to solve the problem but I'm not confident yet that they do.
  15. Offense vs defense: BSU 34 UO 23 Special teams: UO 14 BSU 0 What a head scratching team. One drive they look legit top ten. The next they look bottom ten. They struggle to keep up with BSU, take control of the game only to give it away with turn overs and costly penalties then steal it back late with a kick off return TD. Right now watching this team is like watching baby Godzilla. They look young and inexperienced yet flash dangerous potential. They have three more games to bumble around and go through growing pains until they have a showdown with King Kong. Will they grow up in time for the battle royale, or get squashed like a banana vs tOSU? So far my eyes have me concerned they won't grow up in time but the potential is there that they do.
  16. Maybe someone can call up Georgia Southern and find out how to score 40+ points on Boise St because the Ducks haven’t a clue how to do it.
  17. UO 46-13 3 TOs 3 Sacks 445 yards passing
  18. Great breakdown Charles. I’ve been waiting all week for this and you did not disappoint! It seems like Idaho had an answer for everything thing they tried and that seems on the coaches to me. The continued mental mistakes throughout the game fall on both coaches and players. Their X defeating our O in one on one battles is on the players. Hopefully, it can all just be a bad game for all involved. This week is a true test of Lanning’s leadership. I’m looking forward to positive results this week.
  19. I’d say the less the Ducks are talked about right now, the better.
  20. LeBron should have joined Bronny at USC and they could have won a few championships together!
  21. The race for a top recruiting class is fun but does it really matter? Signing day is well after the regular season is over. If the Ducks take care of business and plant their flag at the top of the BIG year one, I’m sure there will be wave of flips our way.
  22. I remember when Lanning first got here. He watched the Super Bowl with the team. They said he was mostly accurate in predicting the plays based on formation all throughout the game. That’s from observing Super Bowl level schemes and game plans. What Lanning could figure out going against predictable BIG game plans could be mind boggling. Oregon was top ten in giving up only 17 points a game last year. I believe they also faced five or six of the top ten passing teams last year as well (including Hawaii). Scores in the 45-6 range may be a real possibility this year. Great article. Can’t wait for the season to begin.
  23. Beavs better take that Mountain West offer before they change their mind.
