It's Time for Some Olivia Newton John and if You Have a Song You Want to Share...
The 70's would not have been the same without Olivia.

Should Oregon Ducks Retire Marcus Mariota's Jersey Number?
Retiring football numbers doesn't seem realistic with how many players are on a team. But the real answer is there is absolutely no reason for OBD to mimic anything being put forth by the Colorado clown show.

2025: Power-4 Conference Top Dogs, and Dark Horses
Jon writes some of the best football articles on the net and we get them right here on this site. Fantastic! Love the analysis put in to each prediction. Here are my bold conference champion predictions. BIG: Not SUC ACC: Not the Fighting Marios Big !2: Not the Fighting Primes SEC: I'll go way off the board and pick a resurgent Florida. I'm counting down the days to the Spring game. Can't wait!

Oregon Shooting for a Rivals 5-Star...or a Rivals 5-Star...TWICE?
Deciding between Mario, Maryland, Riley or the coach that spent most of his third year in the business as the undefeated number one team, seems like an easy decision to me.

Nico Iameleava to Oregon?
Moga could easily become some sort of wildcat demon that pops up out of nowhere from time to time for four years and makes it four future NFL QBs currently on the roster.

Hawkeyes Will Be a Very Tough Away Game for the Ducks
Great article Jon. I've had the Iowa game penciled in as a big BIG game since I first saw the schedule. These are the games I've been looking forward to since joining the conference. I think even us Duck fans may be underestimating how dangerous our offense could be this year. I see it as being what Herbert in 2019 could have been with with an actual offensive game plan instead of Mario's plod ball scheme. I think every team including PSU in their house will have difficulty keeping OBD below 30 points. Does Iowa have an offense that can put up more than 20 against the Ducks? The only teams that did last year made the playoffs. The fuskies did manage 21 meaningless points in a complete beat down. I'm really hoping the potential of the new D shows out this year and leaves the Iowa fans impressed by the new Ducks on the block.

Ranking Dan Lanning's Best Football games at Oregon
I can't see any win being bigger than tOSU. Beating the national champs has to mean a little more. PSU in the BIG championship should be #2 with UM #3.

Nico Iameleava to Oregon?
Just because you want in the door doesn't mean you're welcome. Lanning tipped off the Vols about his wandering eye. The way Tennessee handled this, I may become a Vols fan. I'd expect him to land at a place like SUC or the U.

The Kid Thinks he is in the Pros . . . My Bad, They All Are...
Wow. Demanding 4 Mil a year while sitting out on a 2.4 mil contract. If he's under contract, doesn't sitting out violate that? Who deals with these disputes? The court system? Any type of governing body dare touch this subject? Someone better come up with a true functioning system for all of this soon or the whole wonky system in place may soon break down. Are we going to start seeing game to game or half to half deal renegotiations? Without any system in place how does this not just devolve into a continuous ransom situation. Imagine a guy running back a kick off and the TV cuts away to his lawyer renegotiating his deal before he re enters the game. Yuck.

RUH-ROH! "Did Oregon State, Washington State Build a Pac-12 They're Not Good Enough to Compete In?"
These will be known as the good ole days for for Beavis and Coug It. I hope they're storing up some fond memories of being back to back PAC football champs and runner ups. In forty years, the grand kids won't believe the legend of these wonderful times!

Getting DEEPER Into Oregon’s 2025 Football Opponents
Can't wait for the PSU Ducks vs Them when Lanning calls time late in the game and shows the team that Green dot in the sea of the white out and wins gut check time to seal the deal.

The Civil War Should Be the Spring Game
As fun as it is to contemplate little Beavis as a Spring game punching bag, I think the current format is more productive. I'd rather have more players get more reps and let players duel it out for position rankings. I'd also be nervous about setting up position rankings too early and setting up a possible portal exodus. I'm actually not that attached to a reoccurring game with them. I'd rather use that game slot for maintaining recruiting pipelines (So Cal, Texas). Lanning is so visionary about all aspects of program growth, I think Rob should consult with him about future preseason scheduling.

NCAA Women's Tourney Second Round Duke 59 Oregon 53
Glad to see the ladies fight back and make it a game at the end. I think next year will paint the picture of where the team is heading. If it's another middle of the pack season, that's probably where they'll stay. If they rise to the top three or four in the BIG, they should stay there as well.

NCAA Women's Tourney Second Round Duke 59 Oregon 53
Sorry Duck fans. I turned the game on excited see the ladies up by nine in the first half. Deep into the third quarter they.ve scored three since then and are now down seven.

NCAA Men's Tourney: Ducks Pour it On the Flames 81-52
The phrase "Altman's never lost in the first round with the Ducks" never gets old.

BIG March Madness Men 8-0 Women 5-1
Checking scores this morning, it looks like the BIG men went a perfect 8-0 in the first round. The ladies are 5-1 with another four to play today. This doesn't include play in games (I saw the UW women lost one) as I can't bring myself to count those as actual playoff games. Hoping the BIG continues to show out through the weekend.

Lupoi on Replacing All the Starters in Secondary
Just checked the new spring roster on the chilliduck repository page and there is only one player in the secondary that is not at least a four star. With that much stacked talent at every position, someone has to emerge as THE guy. In fact the entire defense and most of the offense is the same story. Time to watch that cream rise to the top.

B1G, SEC: Does Champions Week & 14-Team Playoff Field Work?
What a great post. I love the idea of a playoff to get into the playoffs with home games for the top four. It allows for a March madness Cinderella to sneak in. It also keeps the expanded conferences from getting too top heavy and keeps most of the conference relevant to the end of the season. That can't be bad for ratings. If all the conferences adopted this model, the playoffs would actually expand to well over twenty teams without glutting up the actual playoffs.

Lupoi on Losing the Rose Bowl: A Miscalculation in Preparation?
I would take what Lanning has learned in just three years over what Mario's learned in seven any day. Of his six loses, four have come to teams that either played for a championship or won it. He's also 1-2 vs champions. Steps backward are always frustrating but with Lanning so far they have all come with several steps forward. I expect that trend to continue.

2025 Ducks: Are Your Defensive Expectations Too High?
Great article! I think the biggest question to answer for both sides of the ball is if the up and coming youngsters live up to the hype this year or not. If these four and five star recruits turn into four and five stars on the field, the sky is the limit. Not every 4/5 star recruit can become a KT or Penei Sewell their freshman year. After a year in the system adapting to top tier college play, the cream should rise to the top and those guys should be able to find playing time against whoever transfers in or by pass lower ceiling seniors on the depth chart. This will be my most highly anticipated spring game of the Lanning era. Can't wait!

Lanning Pursues National Title In Shadow of Alabama and Georgia Expectations
Year 1: We're disappointed that a couple second half defensive melt downs kept OBD out of the Pac championship. Year 2: We're disappointed that after a slow start OBD don't win the Pac championship and miss the playoffs. Year 3. We're disappointed that after an undefeated number one season, a slow start in the playoffs dooms OBD against the eventual champions. I'd say the disappointment trend is heading in the right direction and is running out of room. It seems like a Duck fan life time ago that Mario lead wins against Cal and WSU that felt as disappointing as loses. I'm loving the Lanning era and looking forward to this upcoming year.

Big Ten College Football Transfer Portal Rankings: 10 Best Newcomers for 2025 Season
Not only three in the top ten but No. 1, No. 2 and No. 4. Wonder how many would make the top twenty. Can't imagine Makhi and Bear being that far from top ten.

AMAZING! Duck Beat No. 11 Wisconsin in OT, 77-73
Madness Altman has arrived. Good. Very good.

The Empire Strikes Back: USC Flips Oregon 2026 QB Commit Jonas Williams
I do not see a season in the Dan Lanning future that the Ducks have to worry about having a top tier two deep at QB.
