  1. Actually it gets even better. Assuming Ohio St makes it to the championship, then 4 out of all six Lanning losses will have been to teams that played in that year's championship. That would include all three loses from years two and three. Pretty impressive really.
  2. Yes. Another sport to dominate the BIG in year one. Team looks complete and ready, willing and able.
  3. Losing epic battles with top level competition like UW last year happen and no real shame in that. I honestly thought the days of not looking like we even belonged on the field were behind us. To me, that is the most disappointing thing about yesterday. That game was over by the halfway point of the first quarter. So far Lanning has been a one step back, several steps forward type of guy so I'm not too concerned moving forward. This is the first time since game one that he looked behind the curve and not ready for the moment. Ironically, I think one of the main problems was that this team was just too far ahead of schedule this year. They so easily stormed through the BIG in year one they stopped looking like an up and coming team and appeared to be a team that had already arrived. This was probably a legit 4-5 seed team that could have made the final four if properly seeded and this year could have ended feeling more successful. I'm looking forward to seeing the young 4-5 star guys move up to starting positions next year. I hope we start weening ourselves off of the portal for the majority of the starters. I think the O line may need some portal help but other than that, I'd like to see the young guys given a shot. I wouldn't even mind a step back 9-3 type year if it meant developing the future core group.
  4. Sorry. I didn't realize that. I'll just post this quote from Stewart from the article. "First practice back, after Big Ten, I got a lower-body injury, my back. I had been fighting it for a minute," said Stewart. "Today was the day I was going to test it out and it just wasn't good enough... I've been practicing the last week, two weeks, not full go but going as much as I can. Today was basically test day. I went through the full warmup, warmed up and stuff and it just wasn't good enough. Ultimately decided it wasn't it." Like i said earlier, it seems like his status has been up in the air since the Big Ten Championship.
  5. It would appear so according to this report. I thought he just got hurt in warmups but it looks like it was a lingering injury since the Championship game. Oregon WR Evan Stewart was unable to play against Ohio State due to lower back injury
  6. Their top receiver is out and their run game has been working but just up to the five yard line.
  7. ASU is the scrappier dog but Texas is the bigger dog.
  8. Penn St, the team that just can't quite pull away against Boise, the team that just won't go away is playing out just like you'd think it would.
  9. Boise better tap in to their creative side on offense because powering it up the middle just ain't gonna happen.
  10. 5-3 in the SEC ain't what it used to be.
  11. I think the best thing that could have happened was osu2's Tennessee game. Getting to beat up an overrated SEC team at home gave them a mega boost of self esteem. With the national media practically crowning them champs already, they have returned to their arrogant condescending selves. Instead of feeling like a cornered animal needing to fight for it's life, they are bragging to the media how "back" they are. If they want to believe that this D is soft go right ahead. If their D thinks this will be just like playing the Vols, be my guest. After that win, Day, the team and the fans are all full of themselves and are convinced that beating an undefeated number one team is a forgone conclusion. I'm as nervous as anybody about this game but it does seem to be setting up for that "shocking" OBD victory that only we Duck fans can see coming.
  12. If only Chip had run the DT to the Mailman two point conversion play instead of four runs up the gut to nowhere on the goal line.......
  13. UO 38-31 2 TOs 3 Sacks 345 Passing yards
  14. If the game is close into the fourth quarter, Day's collar will start feeling tighter and Lanning's eyes will start getting wilder. With that said, I like our chances.
  15. After spewing that bad on their home field against Michigan, osu2 should feel grateful to even be in the playoffs. And absolutely no one should wish to play Boise St.
  16. The biggest problem the committee had was taking the seedings as literal rankings and not as preferable matchups. They really should have consulted with the March Madness committee that has been doing this much longer. The top four were baked in so there wasn't much that could be done there but after that they really screwed up. First putting Texas at five was fine as that keeps an UGA Horns threepeat from happening until the championship if they both earn their way there. Penn ST and osu2 both should have been placed in an opposite bracket of OBD and given the six and seven seeds. That puts Notre Dame at eight. 9-12 can get placed they same as they won't really matter in the grand scheme of things. This bracket would have looked as follows. 9 Tennessee vs 8 ND/ 1 OBD 12 Clemson vs 5 Texas/ 4 ASU 10 Indiana vs 7 osu2/ 2 UGA 11 SMU vs 6 Penn St/ 3 Boise St The only real difference would have been osu2 and ND swapping places. The committee could have had a reasonable bracket like this while stating that the matchups were more important than literal rankings and few would have had a problem with it.
  17. I think the fourth key will be whatever ridiculous game prep motivation Lanning comes up with this week that we'll find out in the latest Ducks vs Them. What theme does he come up with next? Does he go with Brave Heart for the dangerous underdog angle? How about Empire Strikes Back for the merciless top dog acting like it? Personally I hope it's Predator. Ripping out spines and collecting skulls seems more Lanning's speed.
  18. This may be the truest statement I've seen in sports. The way the game ended doesn't sit right with the guy actually sitting on his a$$ with the ball when the game ended.
  19. Of the seven other remaining playoff teams, OBD has played three of them going 3-0 in the process while averaging around 38 points a game. Lanning absolutely lives for these moments, Day fears them. If this game is close in the fourth quarter, the teams will reflect the leadership of the coach. Lanning will be leading them in to battle like Braveheart. Day will be hoping he doesn't screw it up again.
  20. Chip Kelly will be going back to the home field of the team he just left to coach against the team he coached in the Rose Bowl against the team he coaches for now.
  21. The B Ball team demanding attention before Valentine’s Day. I like it.
  22. I think the biggest loser this weekend is playoff expansion. Maybe eight is enough.
  23. I think Indiana is making Notre Dame look good like how Purdue made Indiana look good.
  24. Dang. I get home , turn on the tube and they’re replaying a goal line interception. Then before I even sit down the Dames go 98 yards. Whoever’s rooting for Indy, sorry. My bad.
