Idaho Issues: We Can’t Duck the Blocking Analysis…
Autzen Magic replied to FishDuck Article's topic in Our Beloved Ducks
Great analysis, Charles. Thank you! As an old former offensive tackle myself, it seemed to me that scheme was also a problem. I did not spend the time you did to break down the film, but watching the game live it seems as if OBD blocking scheme required the OL/TEs to often reach block and try and block Vandals that were slanting into the run. That's a tough ask. I'm not saying that there was not poor technique and communication. That is obvious from your analysis. For example, in the clip titled "backside sealing" #96 for the Vandals took a step in the wrong direction and Pickard could have easily blocked him and instead went to the play side (Pickard's right side) and #96 makes the play. It appears as if if Poncho is supposed to block #96, but that is a difficult task. In that same clip, notice that Ferguson has to reach block to the defensive end (and does a good job) lined up over Cornelius and Cornelius has to reach block to the defensive tackle that is lined up over Poncho and he is not successful. Again, in my opinion, that is a tough ask and I would prefer more straight up blocking or taking advantage of the angles and blocking back side. My $0.02. Go Ducks!!! -
I was on the fence, but now I have tickets to tomorrow's game so no Peacock for me! Also, I spent last Saturday afternoon setting up YouTube TV so I can now tell Comcrap good riddance!

Thanks Charles! About 15-20 years ago, I went to a OU v Nebraska game at Lincoln. A few observations: 1). I didn’t get the impression Memorial Stadium was significantly larger than Autzen. Larger for sure, but there was so little space for your rear end (which is how I believe the capacity is so much more). 2). I felt like I was at a church watching the game. I wore my bright yellow Haloti Ngata jersey and stood up to encourage the Husker D to make a goal line stand. People told me to sit down. I couldn’t believe the lack of noise compared to Autzen. 3). The people are extremely nice. Made lots of friends tailgating and at the bars after the game. But maybe a little too nice. After the Sooners won, the crowd gave a golf clap to Stoops as he jogged off the field. I promised my new Husker friends that Neuweasel would not receive such a friendly reception.

I was at that game. Great memories of taunting Fusky fans (who were yapping at us all game) as they exited the stadium. -
Yes I was! Great player and great person.

Oregon DB Daylen Austin Arrested for Hit-and-Run
Autzen Magic replied to Charles Fischer's topic in Our Beloved Ducks
Daylen Austin's court appearance has been delayed a couple of times because "the state's discovery and the defense investigation are ongoing and incomplete." A court appearance is currently set for Thursday, July 11. Because that is only two days away and there has been no request for a further postponement (at least none that has been entered by the court clerk as of the time of this posting), I believe that we'll learn more this week (but I would not be shocked by another postponement). -
Worst total rushing yards per game and worst rushing yards per carry under Coach "Be More Physical" Cristobal. Just proves that running straight ahead into a loaded box is not a great idea.

While "the Pick," was an incredible play that helped shape Oregon football for decades to come, I would submit a game earlier that season against Iowa was the game that propelled the Ducks to the '95 Rose Bowl and propelled the Ducks to new heights. I was in the stands (attendance was a paltry 29,287) and none of my buddies had any confidence in the Ducks after two early losses to Hawaii and Utah. In fact, there was a smattering of boos when Don Essig announced Rich Brooks as the coach. Then, much to our surprise, the underdog Ducks took the field and stomped the Hawkeyes. The next week, the Ducks travelled to USC and defeated the Trojans with backup QB Tony Graziani at the helm. The Ducks stumbled against Washington State, but then went on 6 game winning streak that ended with a historic appearance in the Rose Bowl. I don't believe that if the Ducks had not turned it around that glorious sunny afternoon in Eugene (after what I understand were some tough conversations/meetings/practices), they would have been able to finish the season like they did. Go Ducks!!!

RIP Bill Walton - Dead of Cancer at Age 71
Autzen Magic replied to Jon Joseph's topic in Our Beloved Ducks
Big loss for the sporting community. Bigger loss for the world at large. I have been amazed at Bill's ability to exude energy, happiness and positivity while suffering so many crippling injuries. The '77 Blazers were an amazing team that shaped me as a boy and taught me the meaning of TEAM sports. The big readhead was a major reason I love basketball. And as a basketball guy (player and coach), I truly enjoyed watching games he broadcast. So entertaining! I can only imagine the stories that he and the Schonz are reliving right now. I'm going to listen to Grateful Dead today in his honor. Throw it down, big fella! Rip City! -
Ducks Garner an A+ in Transfer Portal Grade
Autzen Magic replied to Steven A's topic in Our Beloved Ducks
USuCk is stooping to new lows, hoping that transfers from the Beavers will solidify their D. Wow! Never in my life did I think that the Condoms would have to rely on Beaver castaways. Let the good times roll! -

Oregon DB Daylen Austin Arrested for Hit-and-Run
Autzen Magic replied to Charles Fischer's topic in Our Beloved Ducks
According to the Register-Guard: "Austin was arraigned at the jail on Wednesday and was charged with failure to perform duties of a driver to seriously injured persons." I have absolutely NO inside information, but the fact that it does not appear that Austin was charged with DUI, MIP or Manslaughter leads me to believe that the Eugene police believe his only crime was not remaining at the scene. His next court appearance is May 22, but I expect that we'll get more details from the UO/his attorney/the press in the next few days. It wouldn't surprise me if a statement is made late tomorrow, to limit the distribution of the story by national media to over the weekend and not during the busier weekday news cycle. -
Is MKA Basketball Floor Being Replaced?
Autzen Magic replied to TheRunningDuck's topic in Our Beloved Ducks
It appears so. Oregon Ducks redesigning court at Matthew Knight Arena for move to Big Ten WWW.OREGONLIVE.COM Could this be the end of the forest of fir trees? -
Thanks for the correction. My mistake just goes to prove the old adage of what happens when you ASSUME something ...

I'd rather have Eugene Omoruyi's "little" brother, 6'11" Clifford. Would be a big help on defense and would, in my opinion, better complement Bittle.
-
As I surmised, Oquendo is transferring. He could attack the basket, but he could not be relied upon to hit the 3 and his defense was less than stellar so Dana moved him down the rotation. It's too bad he was unable to better assimilate; I had higher hopes for him. Good luck to him wherever he lands. Oregon men’s basketball guard Kario Oquendo enters transfer portal WWW.OREGONLIVE.COM Oquendo averaged 7.2 points, 2.4 rebounds and 1.0 assist for the Ducks

Tony Stubblefield is returning to help coach and recruit for the men's program. I believe this is big news. The Ducks were playing last season without its' full allotment of coaches and it is clear that Dana really wanted Stubblefield back. Assuming the Ducks can add a couple of quality transfers (another big and a good shooting wing that can play D) to a core returning linuep of Bittle, Shelstad, Tracey, Barthlemy, Cook and probably Evans (I'd be surprised if Oquendo returns), I believe that the Ducks will again be dancing in 2025. Tony Stubblefield returns to Oregon men’s basketball coaching staff WWW.OREGONLIVE.COM Stubblefield, who spent 11 seasons working as an assistant at UO, is returning to Dana Altman’s staff.
