  1. This really bugs me. OBD have shot a whopping 68% of their free throws this year. It's all about sustained practice and developing muscle memory. These guys are tremendous athletes who have attained amazing control over their bodies. So, I am left to consider that they just spend a lot of time doing things other than FT practice. 68% is pretty poor, honestly, and costs games. I hope Dana gets these guys into the gym 30 minutes early for ... yep, FT practice. Heck, I didn't make the Cal team in the early '60s and I shot 85%. Maybe Dana should call me up before I hit 80 years of age. However, I couldn't dunk then. And I still can't.

  4. Charles, best wishes always, but especially during a stressful relocation (as they all are). Changing one's life and habits after many decades is a challenge for the best of us. But it sounds like you have exactly the right attitude and emotions going forward with your divorce. ("Divorce" has been a four-letter word in the past for me. ) I don't know if you'll find sanity in these pages ... but we try! Anytime you need us, sir.
  5. A delightful read. Many thanks, Ryan. I am particularly fond of your last sentence. "As everyone knows, with age comes experience, and with experience comes better play on the football field." I shall be guided by this truth. Since I'm older than Burma Shave, I would make a terrific db!
  6. Interesting stat, Jon. Shall we call them The Seattle Squeakers? Close Canines? Hairless Huskies? Wacky Washington Winners? (Naw.) Okay, how about the Barely Beaters?
  7. Great, informative article. You sir are a mighty fine writer and pen with much humor. (I have 2 things to say about your humor. and ) And oh yeah, I'm sick of ESPN and the SEC. I have a feeling that next year's PO will still be rife with controversy ... just 4 times more so.
  8. It was clear to me that the Sniffers were quite average in all their games between their two Oregon wins. Penix was injured late in that first game ... possibly a broken rib or some upper side injury. He got healthy late in the season and now is on top of his game again. He is certainly a difference maker. I think Michigan has a superior team, but (and I said this here after his 3rd game ever with the Sniffers), Penix would be trouble for OBD and others. All that said, there will be a dawg pile at the end of the championship game, and it won't smell good for our buddies up I-5.
  9. Yep. ESPiN is biased and generally misses the point of accuracy that I almost didn't post the article. I did post it because in my mind, and regardless of their SEC bias, it displays high praise for a PAC-12-Gone team to have included players with higher ranking (to number 51) than any but Alabama.

  11. I'm just really irritated by folks who cannot take responsibility for their actions and instead blame others. Always look out for those that point fingers.........
  12. One who will NOT be portal-ing ... T. Johnson. Standout Oregon defensive back announces he will return in 2024, per report SATURDAYOUTWEST.COM A key Oregon safety will reportedly return in 2024.

  14. We are so blessed to have DL coach OBD and have Mr. Mari-oh-oh gone. Mari-oh-oh's game and clock management is just horrendous. Players are out of control. And to top it off, Miami was completely outplayed physically. The U now has great recruiting but seems terrible at everything else.
  15. David, thanks for the fine article. But I thought Franklin had opted out, too. Do you have information on a change of mind by him?
  16. Merry Christmas back atcha all! Good health and prosperity for all our Ducks and OBD forum folks in 2024 and beyond. And many thanks, Charles, for creating and maintaining this wonderful site. Much good cheer throughout this holiday season.
  17. Clownzingo is all about clicks. Always has been in my mind. I stopped reading ANYTHING he had to say years ago. Don't let anything he says get to you, Charles. His opinion doesn't travel very far (if it really IS his opinion and not just click bait). I believe that the two schools should control the PAC-2-minus-10 AFTER the contract year... and certainly not the earned income from this fiscal year. The court ruling is not only unfair, but in my mind a miscarriage of law. But then my opinion and $8 might get you a glass of water at Starbucks.
  18. Perhaps my post is premature given that you'll be talking about Coach Graves in your article tomorrow. But it's hardly seen as running the red light while driving OWBB downhill when his Oregon teams' record is 210-90 going into this season. (His lifetime record as a coach? 637-292.) It's obvious he can coach, and he can recruit. It will be interesting to see your take on him tomorrow.
  19. Oregon lands Oklahoma QB transfer Dillon Gabriel, sources tell 247Sports 247SPORTS.COM The Oregon Ducks have found their replacement for Bo Nix, once again turning to the transfer portal to land decorated signal-caller Dillon Gabriel.
  20. That receiver room is so loaded, plus with likely incoming portal dudes, it's possible that Anderson was 'invited' to decommit.
  21. Jon ... Jon. No need to stay after school. No need for self-flagellation. None of us had a perfect year of prediction or analysis. A thing you did with perfection is writing a wonderful article and tons of accurate, informative, and entertaining posts here at OBD. Many thanks.
  22. Surely Bo walks the walk when it comes to loving his teammates. He wants to be with them. But I think there are two other points worth considering. The one thing that has continuously followed Bo is his drive to compete ... and excel. He voiced understandable disappointment in the outcome of the mutt game, but also in his own performance as well. I would suggest that being the competitor that he is, he wants to go out with a win AND his best stuff. Also, as mentioned above, there is no doubt (!) that an insurance policy will be in place that will, in case of a debilitating injury, provide him and his family with an equivalent amount of wealth that would be earned playing in The League. I am so very grateful that Bo decided to come to Oregon. He certainly has set a high bar and great example for all players coming to OBD
  23. Oh yeah. That's it. I forgot.
  24. I was feeling pretty confident until THIS ^ post. Those awful calls over the years came rushing back to me. Why, o why did I give up alcohol?!
