Who do the refs work for, themselves? Everyone talking as if the refs are somehow a separate entity when in reality they are employees of individual leagues. The refs are doing what they're told otherwise they'd be replaced immediately.

Meanwhile, on a related topic; What if the sun explodes next week and how would that effect the playoff? Perhaps it's not hyperbolic to say, "Just keep winning!"

It's "sports entertainment", the athletes are real, the action is real so just enjoy it. Outcomes are determined by who stands to gain/lose the most, or those who work for these stakeholders (refs and reply officials). With all the $$$ on the line now nobody should be surprised either. It's so obvious now they don't even try to hide it.
