What’s Become of McArthur Court?
anyotherduck replied to Pennsylvania Duck's topic in Our Beloved Ducks
Grateful Dead x2, Frank Zappa x2, Willie Nelson, Boston, Jackson Browne, The Clash and many more... That's how I remember Mac Court! -
I cut cable 4 years ago, not a single regret. I stream at an average of 600mbps with reliability at or better than cable. A multi-partner streaming deal could easily dwarf anything the SEC/BIG has in place. None of this concerns me. What does concern me is the competence of GK and the presidents who have a solid history of poor decision making, this is all on them at the moment. Fingers crossed!

Pac-12 Basketball Portal Winners and Losers
anyotherduck replied to Jon Joseph's topic in Our Beloved Ducks
Not sure how OR lost much of anything in the portal. To have 'lost something' you would have had to 'have something' to begin with. -
In GK's case "hindsight" ended when USC and UCLA left the PAC.

Realignment Seems to be Growing on the Duck Faithful
anyotherduck replied to 1Funduck's topic in Our Beloved Ducks
All true. However, dropping a sneaker game to ASU UA or WSU is a national embarrassment, while losing to a Purdue or Wisconsin not so much. The B1G is overrated, but the $$ and favorable media coverage are the real vectors. I'd much prefer the PAC figure it out, but with no-one capable of stepping up and getting something done... we are where we are. -
Realignment Seems to be Growing on the Duck Faithful
anyotherduck replied to 1Funduck's topic in Our Beloved Ducks
I don't think the PAC has what it takes to survive. After watching the conference flail at the mercy of LS for years, only to end up with the "barely" functioning GK, I really don't know what else can be said. Sad, but the current state of affairs shouldn't be a surprise to anyone. While I'm no fan of USC and UCLA, they did what was best for USC and UCLA. With these two gone the media value of the PAC is... whatever OR and WA will bring. Who knows what might happen, but I think the "rumor-mongers" have more credibility than GK or the presidents. -
Giant sigh of relief! Altman needs ballers, not distractions. *From O-live, but subscription only.

Trojan Fans BUTT-HURT Over Lanning/Oregon Recruiting
anyotherduck replied to Charles Fischer's topic in Our Beloved Ducks
Are these clowns really complaining about NIL at Oregon? Didn't USC give Caleb Williams a Bently+++? -
I don't want to bag on TT, but actually playing D1 football isn't in his wheelhouse. I could be proven wrong, but for prudence sake won't be holding my breath. With such a "great arm", perhaps he could give track and field /javelin a shot?

Sources: Pac-12 TV Deal Expected Later This Spring or Summer
anyotherduck replied to NJDuck's topic in Our Beloved Ducks
Uhh Huhh... I'll believe it when I see it... -
Agree on the "no-brainers", but that pretty much counts as 'not being Larry Scott'. As for being "sucker punched" by the B1G, Carol Folt and the B12; this seems more like a case of stakeholders putting their own interests first. I think USC/UCLA knew that GK was weak and not up to task, cutting out at the most opportune time. I might even speculate that this move may have long been in the works given the sad state of the P12. While it seems unlikely, GK might secure some kind of media deal and keep the P12 together. If I were Oregon I wouldn't wait around to find out. Go Ducks!
-
Larry Scott virtually destroyed the PAC12, and did so with complicity of the PAC12 presidents. The same foolish presidents hired GK. The bar for the PAC has been progressively moved lower for years with NO ONE taking responsibility. What exactly has GK accomplished besides not being Larry Scott? As I've said before, Oregon needs to look after Oregon. And (short of some miraculous media deal) align itself with a conference that understands the complex landscape of D1 sports and media.

Tara VanDerveer is a sad, entightled old h@g. Nothing new here.

I stopped holding my breath weeks ago. GK will leave the PAC weak, broken or dissolved. Oregon should be looking out for Oregon. USC and UCLA are looking smarter by the day. Go Ducks!
