Canzano: Running Toward 2024... With a Look Back
JDuck replied to Pennsylvania Duck's topic in Our Beloved Ducks
The X drive cars have been around a long time (4WD). The X3 and X5 (SUVs) are more recent. -
Canzano: Running Toward 2024... With a Look Back
JDuck replied to Pennsylvania Duck's topic in Our Beloved Ducks
I didn't know BMW ever made any front wheel drive cars. They can actually be good in snow, more weight is over the drive axle typically. Modern (studless) snow tires make 4WD unnecessary unless it's really deep. I live in Central Oregon too. I've had Accords and we have a newer turbo Jetta now (with a stick shift). Got my fricken-150 of course. Did anyone get anything else out of that article? -

How Oregon Can Win the 2024/25 Championship
JDuck replied to FishDuck Article's topic in Our Beloved Ducks
Bottom line, win. A loss regular season is still playoffs, at 11-1, 12-1, even 11-2 possibly with a 12 team playoff. But win a championship? Just win. Gotta win out after December 1st. -
Please don't fo that to Justin, please...

But you adapt quickly, every road game except Utah or Wyoming you feel like the O2 is on...and visitors have a slight disadvantage

How to Cook a Steak: I’m Disappointed in Dan Lanning
JDuck replied to DrJacksPlaidPants's topic in Our Beloved Ducks
Not many recruits here either, but my morning view is worth a great steak, however you cook it. 5 star view. Merry Christmas everyone. Go Ducks! -
Because Florida State has won 2 National Championships in the past 10 years (beating top SEC teams), brings lots of eyeballs for TV advisers while expanding the media market footprint and further opens up the talent rich Florida recruiting market? Uh, I believe they got one natty 10 years ago, previous titles were in '99 and '93? 2013 they beat SEC Auburn, but '99 was Virginia Tech (then Big East) and '93 was Nebraska (then Big-8) so 1 title (Which WAS over an SEC team) in the last 24 years.

Helf, great OC and QB coach/developer, not so great at recruiting (better than Chip, and Helf is the one who found Marcus) but not so good at picking a DC. Times change

Is Developing Quarterbacks a Thing of the Past?
JDuck replied to FishDuck Article's topic in Our Beloved Ducks
Helf was both, and excellent at both. Chip...wasn't he QB coach too when he was OC? Dennis Dixon went nuclear under Chip in one season. Heismann and Natty both went down with the knee in the ASU game. Justin Roper developed well in just 6 weeks, was 4th or 5th string when DD went down. -

Thompson worked under 3 coordinators, the last two are known for developing QBs. Hayward Duck is right, you have to pick the right guy. 5 stars in high school don't always pan out. It's not all on the coaches. Mariota and Herbert were special talents. MM had good coaches, JH did too with Helf for 1 year, but not under Mari. He was just good. -
Hopefully we blow them out and they go 6-6 with their G5 schedule

A Birdie Whispered to a Duck: Dante Moore Update
JDuck replied to Charles Fischer's topic in Our Beloved Ducks
I wasn't initially interested in Moore coming back, but if it's to learn under Gabriel and develop for 2025, I'm all in. If he ends up not being the 5* we hoped (a la TT) then they'll find someone else. He's still worth a shot to prove he's got the right stuff. Could set us up well for a couple years -
FSU has a great D, USuC...'nuff said. Louisville will light USuC up, and without Caleb...USuC will just SuC. I hate to root for Texas or Sark, but I sure hope UW loses. Yeah, validates us more if the mutts win, but...do you really want to hear the gloating from muttlets if they win? I think I'm pulling for Bama right now to win it all, the Michigan cheaters don't deserve it.

Did the Oregon Ducks Fail Ty Thompson?
JDuck replied to FishDuck Article's topic in Our Beloved Ducks
Of course he got a shot, he didn't give the coaches the impression we'd be winning at the level we want or he'd have played and Gabriel wouldn't be coming in. Nix did give the coaches something to be excited about and had 2 coordinators here in 2 years and developed into a Heismann finalist. We have an OC and QB coach that looks like he'll be fine at developing a good QB. 5 stars mean nothing, a QB has to develop too regardless of the coach. I wish him well but the coaches know what they are doing. -
Coach Graves…You ‘Thought We Played Well?’
JDuck replied to FishDuck Article's topic in Our Beloved Ducks
No issue with a woman head coach, but yeah...Bring Campbell back, with our NIL etc., has to be better than TCU. -
Ducks WBB: ‘Is the System Blinking Red?’
JDuck replied to FishDuck Article's topic in Our Beloved Ducks
His first group was more special and talented than we may realize, Sab is arguably the best player ever. To follow that group up with a #1 class with 5 players rated 5*, with none coming close to the billing...it's like Ty Thompson and other 5*, they don't always pan out, but that was just weird. Like Altman and MBB, the portal has been important...too important? In the last 3-4 years, neither MBB or WBB has been the same. Both coaches have a huge track record of success. Do they need a new spark, or is it time for a fresh start? I think MBB, if Shelstad, Evans, a couple others will stay for 3 years, it could be special. Interesting the bigs are out and we're back to Altman's small-ball tradition...seems the last few games they've looked way better. As for WBB, I don't know how to X&O what's going on there. 6'8" Center had a career night against a weak opponent. -
I had high hopes for TT too but 5 stars don't always mean anything, I wish him well at his next stop but neither Mari nor 2 years of Lanning, and 3 different OC's...got him to where the coaches thought he was a starter to lead us at the level we're at (championship contender). He looked way better this year in garbage time, but Dillon Gabriel not only gives us solid footing to be at the level we were at this year, but the portal talent he'll "bring" with him will take us even further. Add to that, 3rd year of Lanning recruiting and seeing flashes of some of that as freshmen this season, with another year to develop...whole team will be better. Let's get a kicker, a corner, and that aTm defensive tackle...look out B1G
-
I wish him well and future success. 5 stars don't earn playing time, Coaches know best. Hope he develops at the next stop and plays well
