  1. If I were Phil Knight for a day: I'd consider trying to coax CAL coach Justin Wilcox back to his alma mater and take the reins as our Defensive Coordinator. I know it'd be a step down for him from HC, but I'd try to convince him he could really help Dan Lanning win a Championship for his team. And later, after Lanning moves on, as he's likely to do someday, Justin would be perfectly positioned to take the HC reins himself once again. If I were Phil Knight for a day.
  2. Since I didn't see the game live in its entirety I can't say for sure but this isn't what I was gleaning from several of the articles and many of the posts I've read. I hope your perspective is an accurate one Augduck, because the alternative would be disheartening.
  3. No movement for Oregon, still at 13, and not much chance of any until Colorado comes to Eugene in two weeks.
  4. I'm sure I'm not to first here to say this but from 2 penalties to 14 in one game? If anything, Oregon has got to clean that up, but against Hawaii don't expect that to be an indicator of what to expect when Colorado comes to Autzen. Please clean this up Oregon.
  5. It's "tune-up" games like PSU and Hawaii that I think might be hurting Oregon rather than helping them get ready for conference play. What can they learn from Hawaii that will stand them in good stead with a team like a raging Colorado with a real grudge to bear? And there is always the risk of injuries to key players despite the quality of opponent. The Ducks should be able to dominate H and get a nice win. At least our hearts will get a break from the stress, hopefully.
  6. What's the old adage: A Win is a Win, or something like that? It certainly beats a loss but sometimes a loss can teach you more than a win like this. However, I think you have an excellent point about the last quarter scoreing. Too bad it's Hawaii we face next week because it will be hard for the team to tell how much, if any, real improvement there is. Another lop-sided win is almost the last thing Oregon needs right now though our hearts will appreciate the reduced stress. Interesting note: Hawaii has beaten Oregon the last 3 times they've met, or so a friend of mine is telling me. But it's been 30 years almost since, and things have definitely changed since then. GO OREGON!
  7. That's the most positive outlook on last night's squeaker that I've read so far and it's nice to have a bit of that to counter the bulk of what I've read. Too bad, too, that the Pac12, just as it is coming into shape as perhaps the most balanced and talented conference is about to throw all that away. The rest of the country has to be sighing a breath of relief that the Pac is being broken up like it is.
  8. Good point, Annie. Seeing Bassa (on replay) run that ball back all the way was almost the highlight of the night. In the heat of battle like that, I could never fault a young man for doing what instinct was telling him and I, like you, am glad he got to do it.
  9. As a consolation of not being able to watch the O-TT game last night, I did get to watch the entire Texas-Ala game instead. It was a very entertaining game and the Longhorns certainly were the best team on the field. Nick Saban had never lost a home game by double-digits - until last night. And although the game see-sawed back and forth, in the late stages of the game Texas had finally begun to beat the Tide down. It's not often one gets to see a Saban team suffer such a decisive loss at home. In fact, never, until Sark's unit did it. Boy, I wish Oregon had a defensive unit like Texas. I believe we have an Offense to match with anyone's in the country. If we only had a defense like theirs!
  10. I almost think these types of games (PSU, Hawaii, etc.) hurt, not help, Oregon to get ready for what is bound to be a very tough conference season. USC, UW, OSU, Utah, UCLA and now suddenly Colorado and ASU are all going to field teams that can potentially beat the Ducks. Wading thru teams like this will be a real challenge given the way they responded to TT last night. I hope you enjoy the game, it will be a fun one to watch and I may be there as well to see these 2 play. Expect a very different outcome than last night's. O should win big. Go Oregon
  11. First off I have to say that I was unable to actually watch the game because my streaming service doesn't to include Fox. But I did follow the game as best I could thru the game-cast of ESPN and the game thread Charles set up here on the board. (Thanks guys!). But hearing (and seeing thru YouTube all the replays) the struggles on Defense are, sadly, not a surprise for me. Not completely. Everyone on this board knows I'm not a fan of our D.C. and in fact, was just a couple days ago voicing my opinion that should the Duck defense improve and become a strength, Tosh Lupoi would deserve the lion's share of the credit because Dan Lanning simply doesn't have the time to design, coach and manage the Defense while performing all the other duties of Head Coach. Dan's plate is full. Well, this street runs both ways. If the defense does not improve and add strength to the Ducks as a unit, Tosh Lupoi, likewise, also deserves the lion's share of the blame. This is his job and it's what the University is paying him a rather large sum of money to do. Coach Lanning may have to face up to this situation and make one of his hardest decisions since taking the reins at Oregon. Does he give Lupoi more time to get things moving in the right direction? Or does he look elsewhere for a better defensive mind to implement a stronger, more flexible and resilient defensive unit?
  12. I can't really comment because I didn't get to see the game but Texas Tech in Lubbock is not an easy win for anybody.
  13. I just saw the score on the kiron at the bottom of the screen watching Cal-Auburn. Whew! Way to go Oregon!
  14. Is it final yet? Dare I ask the score?
  15. That doesn't sound promising
  16. Maybe these FCS tune-ups need to get ditched. PSU didn't ready the Ducks like Wyoming must have TT.
  17. 13-9 Texas in the 3rd. Alabama can't quite find the end zone.
  18. Well, I have confidence the Ducks will make the right adjustments.
  19. So has Texas from Alabama. 13-10 Texas at the half
  20. Game cast has Tyler Shough as this games leading rusher? Seriously? Wish I could see it. Oregon must have never expected he'd run the ball.
  21. 18-13? I can't get Fox, dependent on you guys here.
  22. The bricks are starting to crumble in Tuscaloosa for the Tide. But it's still the 1st Half 13-3 Texas
  23. Caribbean voodoo?
  24. In too many of today's schools? Especially the public schools? No, I do not think they are learning the "3 R's" like they should. They're being taught (if that's the right word) cultural and social issues, regardless of how that's supposed serve them in future years. Now, we have to get off the soap box. It's game Day! GO OREGON!
  25. This is one of those games that make me so nervous. All the pressure seems to be on the Ducks, even tho it's TT facing an 0-2 start if they lose. Nice Hype video with the patched-in video of the old announcers Todd McKim and another. When was that from?
