  1. No, neither do I; nor (really) do any of us. I'm hoping TT will offer a serious challenge and we can learn a lot more. But I can't think of anything more the Ducks could have done Saturday than they did against PSU with the possible exception of not allowing that 1st Qtr. TD they got. It was just about as complete a game as any team can play. Would an Alabama have scored more points? I kinda doubt it because the Ducks only failed to score on one possession.
  2. I'd bet on it. But then, I don't bet real $
  3. Any idea David how "high" Lubbock Tx. is? I mean, Eugene is barley 500' if that. lol I...think... altitude will have little to do with it but instead the usual away-game jitters and jet-lag, plus the usual home field advantage. I hope it's a good game; for one or two quarters. Then a strong finish for the Ducks in the 2nd Half. And I hope to see more from the "Will Stein Book on Oregon Offense", ca. 2023-24'.
  4. With all due respect I cannot understand how the Ducks could have done anything more to perform up to their #15 ranking. If you're referring to allowing one TD in 60 minutes of football while likewise scoring 11 yourself then I remain confused. PSU isn't without some good players and they always come motivated to play. I'd point out the fact that Oregon had 0 offensive penalties the entire 1st half and only two penalties total for the entire game while scoring on every offensive possession but one in a 13 possession game. What more could a team do than outscore their opponent by 74 points while playing 25 Freshmen and virtually all the 2's and 3's for most of the entire 2nd Half? I'm flabbergasted by your observation. Would you mind explaining yourself?
  5. Charles, was Stein on the sidelines the entire game? And, do you think he will be against the better competition? Maybe because it was PSU and they were about to play virtually everybody on the roster. I wonder how many plays of the 2023 Playbook he used?
  6. Exactly, only those SEC schools have the brains to schedule those gimmes near the end of the season - to give their A-players a rest and time to heal up before the push to the finish line. I've always wondered why we didn't do the same.
  7. I suspect you're right. Oregon won't waltz into Lubbock and prance thru the Red Raiders like they did PSU. And frankly, O needs to be challenged and tested. I'll bet Dan Lanning feels exactly the same way about this too. The game should be a good one. Good luck.
  8. Congratulations LB! As an indicator of how surprising the score was, you were the closest even though off by 11 pts!!! I'm still getting rebuffs over the 81 points from friends of mine around the country who think PSU shouldn't have been on the schedule. I tell them to go take a hike and see what other schools did and have done in the past. Maybe this new re-alignment will reduce somewhat these over-matches in the future?
  9. They will. The +7,000' altitude may have been a factor, (especially late in the game) and the fact that it was the first game of the season. I expect them to give the Ducks a battle and thank gosh for that (if they do). Oregon has only the Rainbow Warriors left on the schedule to get ready before Colorado comes to town and the Pac-12's last season begins.
  10. Yeah, it was kinda odd but you have to credit PSU with scheming to avoid that and their QB getting rid of the ball in a real hurry. They'll come, I have no doubt.
  11. Other than Ty Thompson coming out of the game last Saturday with "some blood on one finger" (which apparently wasn't anything to write home about) I didn't see a single injury vs PSU. However, Odds Shark is listing two injuries: TE Casey Kelly and RB Noah Whittingham. Both are listed by the betting agency as questionable for the game in Lubbock. I'm wondering if any of you have any news to report on that? Were they injured before the game or during the game? I don't recall Noah getting the ball to carry on any down and nothing shows up in the ESPN box score for either player.
  12. If you are referring to Tosh Lupoi (which I think you are) then I have to agree with you. But he is Lanning's choice so I respect that even if I can't respect the man himself. And if he helps to build a defense at Oregon that mimics their offense, helping them to win a championship then I'll bite my tongue. But I'll never forgot why he was let go twice by two different coaches I respect, and why. He's Oregon's DC and that's that. Go Oregon.
  13. Yeah, I wish Butterfield well. As a former Duck whom things just didn't work out for I expect him to play well for his team. Oregon is so so rich right now in QB talent.
  14. You gotta hand it to the Buffalos, they got a big win at TCU. The program is suddenly resurgent. But, wow! A little Deion goes a long ways and right now there's no one trying to reign him in - even a little. Is this about the Team or about he and his son? Good Luck Colorado but get some humility if you can. What goes around has a way of coming back around. ps: if there is any example of opposites I'd nominate Deion Sanders vs Dan Lanning. Thank Good Gosh we have DL and not DS
  15. I have Sling Orange +Sports and yes, there are six Pac-12 channels provided thru +Sports, including 'Pac-12 Oregon'.
  16. Oh, I think Johnathan Smith is pretty happy where he is right now. The Beavers just expanded and upgraded Reser stadium (due almost entirely to the recent resurgence of the football program) and if the Beavers can survive this crazy realignment and come out intact in a good situation somewhere, I think the Beavers have their coach for the foreseeable future. Of course, what do I know? It's just a hunch.
  17. Was it a 'dropped ball' or something else? With my suspicious mind, I'll always wonder if it wasn't something more conspiratorial.
  18. I was checking stadium capacities of the big-10 schools (just cause I had nothing better to do at the moment) and Oregon would come in around 10 or 11 of the teams there now. Throw in USC, UW and some others and they drop down the list even further. But, they do compare well with schools like Northwestern, Minn, Rutgers and Illinois. So I guess stadium capacity isn't all that important. Still, it will be interesting to see what happens to ticket sales when, say, Michigan or Ohio St come to town with 25,000 fans, (if they ever do) leaving room for ~ 30,000 Duck fans. Ah, the dynamics of NCAA, CFB football.
  19. I'm not able to watch the game live, catching it on ESPN game cast but the Beavers seem to handling SJSU ok. It's not a runaway but I think SJSU is a much better team than any FCS team. The new QB Ulagalelei is having a nice outing (so far) at 9-11, 109 yds and a TD. Boy, is the soon-to-be-extinct Pac-12 loaded with good QB's this year. 21-3 Beavers at the Half.
  20. It seems to me to be one of those ironic facts that just as the Pac-12 gets itself loaded with talent from top to bottom (add Colorado to the mix of Oregon, OSU, USC, Wash and Utah with a resurgent Cal and ASU with a HC with the offense-minded brain of Dillingham) and Wam! No more Pac-12. In my humble opinion, the Pac was on the verge of challenging the SEC and Big 10 both for dominance in the CFB. Also, in my humble opinion, the Big-10 needed us a lot more than we needed them. But, it's all moot now.
  21. I know it'll sound odd but watching that game live, it didn't seem to me like Oregon was trying to run up the score (with the single exception of letting Nix start the 2nd Half to get another TD under his belt - for his numbers for the Heisman run, presumably). And if I remember correctly, I believe 25 Frosh played in that game with the 2's & 3's playing the bulk of the 2nd Half. It's just a case of PSU being unable to stop anything the ducks did whether passing or running the ball. A team can't just start taking the knee in the middle of the 3rd Qtr.
  22. No, you're right Charles, I wasn't. But will the big mid-western teams be content to play in a stadium of 54,000 or is there something in the contract Oregon signed committing them to a substantive expansion in the future? And could Oregon fans fill one of, say, 80,000 or more, even if teams from the midwest travel 20,000? Perhaps withTV rights it's a moot point?
  23. Is it the bill, or the belly? Could be both.
  24. The Ducks played so well, after settling-in, that it was hard to believe it was the 1st game of the season. But, being as it was PSU, an FCS team, it's really hard to get an accurate read on things. After next week's game in Lubbock fans should get a much better idea of how well this team has been coached and prepared and how good the defense can be. In fact it might not be until late Sept. when Colorado comes to town before we really know for sure.
  25. That market has to be sustainable. Beyond the generosity (and lifetime) of Phil Knight. I respectfully disagree with you on the impact of a market the size of large neighborhoods in places like Los Angelas, Seattle, Columbus, Miami, and Dallas.
