  1. New Years Day bowl. A matchup of two major Conference Champions (if not in the playoffs). The 1st and oldest bowl. The Los Angeles venue and all the TV market that entails. I admit, the CFB Playoffs have dented Bowl game values, but the really big ones, like the Rose Bowl and Orange Bowl will survive. The NCAA has every reason to want to see that happen. But regardless of how one feels about bowl games, the Pac-12 has every reason why it should survive as a Power 5 Conference and just because USC and UCLA bolted for the Midwest conference that doesn't mean the Pa-12c has to fold - unless the Conference itself decides to fold and I can't see any reason on Earth why they'ed want that.
  2. Maybe all the great press Oregon's getting right now might help him make up his mind for Oregon. Seems Oregon is being declared the big winner of Signing Day 2022 (even tho Alabama 'won' the most signees). Don't ask me why but it probably has more to do with the fact that many in the National media think Oregon ought to be a perennial cellar-dweller and can't figure out why they're doing so well.
  3. Exactly what the Oregonian reports, except they reported before Blake Purchase signed.
  4. Oh, and the Oregonian reported last night that Oregon had 31 'Commits' including 28 who signed (?). Charles' report above of Blake Purchase's signing makes that 29 signees with 2 left to get in their paperwork: George Silva and Peyton Bowen. Hard ti imagine a better Signing Day than this. IF the Oregonian is right in reporting this.
  5. Well, my memory certainly isn't all it once was but I can't remember any signing day like this. Cristobal's classes were pretty memorable and should be remembered as moving Oregon forward to this point, no matter how we may feel about him as our ex-Head Coach. But I wouldn't trade Dan Lanning for MC and all the assistants he has or ever had. O is in a really good spot right now.
  6. The 'Rich' are getting richer it seems. Nice to see Oregon is now one of the Rich, so-to-speak. Fox News this morning reported that Oregon was probably the biggest 'winner' on Signing Day despite Alabama winning the top spot with signees. I guess this is because Oregon has been on the outside looking in for so many years and only recently (this early portion of the decade) gotten to this level. I think the 4 flips (two from ND) and the transfer from Rhode Is. (the player everybody `wanted) is what put O over the top, alongside the two 5*'s. GO OREGON!
  7. Losing Caleb Presley to UW kinda hurts but mostly because UW and Utah are Oregon's biggest rivals now, outside of the resurgent OSU Beavers. UW has a pretty formidable coach installed as does Utah and OSU. In fact, the competition here more than makes up for UCLA and USC absconding to the B1G. The Pac-12 right now has 4 (minimum) winning programs that'll be a force to reckon with by any program in the country. Just ask Florida. That's a full 1/3 of the Conference. A Power 5 Conference. The Huskies have no reason for sour grapes and instead had better concentrate on Football because OSU and Utah aren't going away. And neither is Oregon.
  8. ScoopDuck (Justin Hopkins) was interviewed on KPNW radio by Rob Holloway this morning. His 'final' analysis at the end of his interview was this was probably the best Signing Day in Oregon's history. To Rob's question of "who, (besides the big 5* names) did he (Justin) think were really big for the Ducks to have got he named immediately the Rhode Island Offensive tackle Ajani Cornelius (transfer) and Daylen Austin who was flipped from LSU. Also mentioned was Jayden Limar who was flipped from ND. There was a lot more to the interview but unfortunately, ScoopDuck is a pay subscription service (~$10/mo).
  9. How many of these high-star recruits are really interested in academics? It's football their immersed in. And work with UW to expedite an invite to the B1G? Oregon has just been given an opportunity to become THE marquee program of a major Power 5 Conference that still owns the Rose Bowl. Many think O already is (and they may be right). If UW wants to take their ball and go to the B1G let them. I hope cooler heads will prevail here at Oregon and keep the Ducks right where they are - all the way to a National Championship and beyond.
  10. I'm hearing Oregon is sitting around #6 in rank of signing. Yeah, I'd say it's been one heck of a day, week and month so far. But my best thoughts go out to Bo Nix for deciding to stay on one more year. Regardless of what that might (or might not) have meant with Dante Moore. Oregon has a QB that everyone knows is one of the very best in the Nation already, not just a potential or prospective one in the works.
  11. Not to say his parents (or mother, in this case) shouldn't be part of the process but at some point the young man needs to make it his decision or he will forever be second-guessing himself if things don't work out for him. My mother wanted me to go to college first, Navy later. I chose otherwise and it was probably the best decision I could have made when I made it. At 18-19 all I would have done was party and drink. The Navy grew me up, fast!
  12. Now this is what I wanted to see, another good RB in the room. There's been so much emphasis on Defensive players (understandably) and QB's with Moore spreading around the drama that almost no one was talking RB's. With Cardwell's departure and Seven McGee's, etc. I was hoping no one forgot the Offense too!
  13. Wouldn't it frost her if her son went with Presley instead? Maybe, with a mother like that he might want to consider a west coast team. Maybe like O.
  14. Well, the drakes and hens do. Not sure about other combos.
  15. HOW did I not see that?!
  16. So, that's a Duck uniform he's sporting? I can't really tell except that O did wear pink numerals and feathers on the helmet for breast cancer awareness this year.
  17. ? I'm still confused. It sounds like Bowen chose Oregon which (if you're right) caused Presley to leave the set? And somehow that means he's flipping and maybe Bowen too? I'm guessing some of the kids (with too much help from a 'team' of advisors made up of parents, coaches, scouts, friends, pseudo-friends and media) are just weighting all their options and waiting to see what others do or don't do. It's almost like a game of musical chairs.
  18. surprise, surprise, not. (Alabama winning) But a big day for Oregon, never-the-less. Now, Jurrion, get that paperwork in to Dan ...
  19. Could you please explain?
  20. Is there a hard deadline on when the paperwork has to get off?
  21. It's now after 6:00 pm CT. What transpired? Any word?
  22. If my 'count' is right I see Oregon with 25 signees, so far as of today. This has got to be great news for Oregon and has to be raising them up in the ranks of team signings?
  23. Just goes to show ya how important national exposure is for top players in any program and why Oregon has been gaining ground slowly over the years. Teams like USC, Notre Dame, Alabama, Ohio State and others have their own like stories, I'm sure. And have had for decades. And teams like Nebraska show how easily that 'edge' can be lost by bad coaching and staff hires. Time was every kid in the midwest, almost, wanted to be a Cornhusker. Not anymore. GO OREGON!
  24. If Klemm wants him then I guess he's a good one. And if he wants to be a Duck - hooray! I'll e back here around 4-ish to hear the good news
  25. Well, they got our 'stud' RB in Dye, so let's just call this fair play - if Oregon lures him here instead. I don't want to hear any whining and complaining from trojan fans about anything.
